Timmons Finally Lands Ohio State Offer

  • Man I hope we don't string the 2014 Kentucky kid along at 2 weeks until signing day. (Drew Barker)

If Timmons still wants to be a Buckeye after all the staff has put him through, I respect and admire his loyalty. If not, I wish him well.

Absolutely. Let's hope the kid's ego is not run amok and he knows the bennies of the playing for Urban and OSU. Come on down Mr. Timmons.

  • He certainly has something that can't be taught and that's SPEED! I don't care what competition he played against in KY. The kid can FLY! This is one of those Urban type players IMO. Can't tackle what you can't catch.

  • He's an upgrade from Verlon Reed and well, yeah...

  • Timmons is a nice plan B, but Clark is 1 and Wilson is 1A. But, bill is right, if we didn't offer Timmons, there would have been no plan B.

Clark's film shows speed like no other recruit we're after.

Timmons is not the prospect that Wilson or Clark is, not in the same league even. I am not saying he can't turn out to be a great player because many great players come from no-name colleges and were offered by nobody. I will say as a prospect his offer sheet was not real impressive until Florida came out of nowhere. There is a reason why people who know a lot more about football then I do weren't on this kid earlier. Compare the offer sheets and that will tell you the best prospects are. I don't mind Timmons but I really want Wilson in this class.

  • Timmons earned it!! There's nothing more he could have done to get a offer...his stats and highlight tape are great. people talk abt his comptetion, but I'm almost sure it's the same comp quick played in small kentucky, and noone complained abt tht! Go bucks...

He is as good a prospect as anyone on the Board. Is he better than Clark or Wilson? We don't know, but I certainly don't think that he is far inferior, as a slot, to either, based on film and measurables. any of the 3 would be excellent for this offense, IMO.

Timmons wants to be a Buckeye? Be a Buckeye.

this is where I am. State Champ in the 100. Shifty. Can catch anything. What is not to like? #2 player in KY.

  • Actually, Quick played many more big schools out of Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee, as well as the bigger Schools in Louisville (Male, St. X (both OH and KY versions), etc.). Don't get me wrong, I like Timmons, but don't confuse Quick and Timmons comp-levels.

However, again, I love Clark and Wilson, I don't understand why we weren't going hard after the former from the get-go. But, Timmons is no slouch, I'll grant his supporters that.

  • if he always wanted to be a buckeye why wouldn't he commit? some of the greatest buckeyes were in the bottom 10% of offers. troy smith was the most recent.

  • I have never understood this! Gibson, who had academic problems and strung us on forever, only to commit to UWV, got the very first offer for 2013. Timmons, who has always seemed like a great kid, with comparable speed to Gibson and with unbelieveable stats (regardless of the level of competition) was praying for an OSU offer but did not get it until January 23, 2013. Why?

I realize that I know nothing about recruiting, and I respect Coach Meyer and the Staff immensely, but I think this was a huge mistake. If we do not get Timmons, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

What exactly has the staff put him through? Have you been privy to all the talks between Timmons and the OSU staff? I am betting you haven't. Best of luck either way Mr Timmons.

I hope we don't do this either ... though, i think the circumstances are different and wouldn't expect such a play. Watson is a special talent and I don't blame the staff for waiting this early in the 2014 process. If we get the message that Watson is not gonna flip over the course of the coming months, barker is still there. But, as of now, we should wait as we have not even had Watson step foot on campus yet. Barker is excellent, but watson has a pinpoint accurate canon attached to his shoulder.

  • Bill, is his offer committable? if it is and he does that scare away Wilson? All these slot reciever offers is getting a little odd.

He's a nice prospect but this is a CLASSIC case of playing the field at the bars scouring for perfect 10s only to end the night with a 7 because you know you'll get some and struck out with the top shelf pussy.

Yes but after a 12 pack the 7 can quickly become a 10. Just lay off the whiskey and take a 3 or worse and want to chew your arm off the next morning. For this reason I no longer drink more than a 6 pack.

Translation= he is worthy of an offer and a real speedster and did well in our camps so I hope we get him.

I agree completely if you ask me he could be a jeff demps type here as fast as he is. I'll take a chance on that speed.

  • After watching about 10 minutes of the highlights, I thought to my self, self, what other #5 does this kid remind you of? Was it me playing tricks on myself or does he remind others of Braxton? the jukes, the spins, the come backs. Now I agree that some of that competition was not up to par, but he was hard to touch, let alone catch.
