I do not want to see Shazier in the middle. While I'm sure he can play the position, I don't think it takes advantage of his athletic ability like playing outside does. I think he has a bigger impact playing where he is now than sliding him to the middle. When the MLB drops back deep in cover 3, you need that lateral ability between the two outside backers to cover and split the field.

I remember watching the HS AA game and Grant was a beast. What happened here Im not sure, but this is his 3rd year, and unlike most here, I belive he will mature and get the starting job this fall!
I also see Perry at SSL and think it would be a shame to have to move Shazier to MIKE. This would be a mistake IMO
Grant will be the manning the middle this year.

How fast can you SEE what is going on...that is what the game is all about...especially on defense because you have to be able to REACT and REACT FAST!
Fickell has always said "how do you coach eyes?"
I don't think Grant has the EYES for linebacker...Shazier does...he just had a crappy fundamentals for 1/2 a season...we all saw what happened when he let fundamentals take over...
Linebackers are like the runningbacks of the defense...they need to be able to SEE the hole open almost before it does and just like a runningback they need to be able to run through it! That is why Boren made the transition look so easy...he can see the hole (normally called windows or doors)...
Hell Klein could see the windows...his back was just shot...
...kid I would not be surprised to see sneak into the line-up...Perkins...high school runningback...

compare Grant sr. film to Trey Johnson...

Notice even in Grant's HIGHLIGHT film all the blockers he is running into...and we are surprised this is happening in college?
Compare that to Johnson and you will see what I am talking about...Johnson sees the hole and shoots through it...avoiding the blockers...if he doesn't see the hole he scrapes until he does and then fills down hill without getting caught in the trash...

I am not trying to be negative but there has been 5 posts saying what happened with Grant? If you paid attention to the games where he played he was just awful. I know he was a 5* but unless something clicks he will probably be the next 5* failure. He was slow out there, he looked like he was thinking instead of playing, he brought nothing to the table when he hit.. I realize its not about the hits but still you would expect him to bring more.
I want to see Marcus out there. I watched him on special teams last year and he reminded me a little bit of Shazier when Shazier was special teams only the start of his freshman year. Marcus just seemed like he plays fearless. Also he looks like his frame could easily hold 240lbs without losing much speed.
