You have to think he would have been bored out of his mind just sitting around. This gives him something to do, and it is with the NFL! Doesn't sound like a bad gig.

Agree. Otherwise......what is he to do? Sit around and read about what he s**t ball and liar he was? I mean, really. Who has recently written a national piece that convincingly and poignantly came to his defense? I mean other than Ramzy. Has he gone on 60 minutes or SportsCenter and said his piece to clear the air? No. Cuz apparently there is no air to clear.....at least not for another ten years or so.

Good for him. I am sure Ellen and his family are pleased. Even if this is a one year gig, he is at a point in his life when....hey, you take it one year at a time.

  • curious what Yakman's take is on this. He seemed to be wired into the Tressel family somehow...haven't seen Yak around in awhile.

The question is, how long until he is a full-time NFL coach?

I have a hard time seeing that.

The NFL is all about QBs passing and high-scoring offenses. That simply does not fit with Tresselball. At the very least, QBs, WRs and Marketing people would be running for the hills as soon as they heard he was hired.

The Colts hired Tressel as a consultant to the head coach. As I asked a week ago, is he going to be suspended for the 1st five games?

I'm tired of D.H.& all his little "jabs" he thinks are witty. He needs to worry less about us & more about the turds up north! It sure would be a shame if someone happened to kicks his tail while wearing OSU gear & then do the Heisman pose over top of him while he's crying on the ground. Now that my friends would be a tweet worth reading & as an added bonus maybe a twitpic...haha...GO BUCKS!!!

This seems like a freaking odd hire.

First of all, the guy has millions...it's not like he needs the money. And I'm sure they aren't paying much for this job anyway.

Second, that has to be one of the most boring jobs in football...and it certainly doesn't require someone with coaching experience or even a college degree. Hell, half a day of rule training and any fan out of the stands could do that job.

Lastly, do Ellen and the kids/grandkids really want him travelling 5+ mo per year?

    Just seems odd to me.

Can you say "coach in waiting"?

  • First step for Tress to be a HC somewhere in the NFL.

    Good for him.

  • I wish nothing but the best to the greatest coach in tOSU history. In the face of unjust ridicule, I hope he succeeds and shoves a collective middle finger in the faces of all those whom put him down.

    Good luck Coach T!!!

    flippin someone off....
    LOL

That's comical to think about... and the last thing I can picture Tress EVER doing :-)

  • Sounds like good work if you can get it...1 day a week to watch pro football from the press box...maybe he just wants to see what the NFL is all about...good for him.

As for the Ilinois game, yes he should have challenged...but as much as the loss hurt, we still made it to the BCS title game that season.

After the Illinois game in 2007, I'm questioning this hire by the Colts.

hey Tress is a god man and I think he will be great.

  • Maybe the most demeaning job I can think of for someone that a year ago was head coach and a legend at a school like Ohio State. Hope he sent Terrelle a thank you card.

Agreed. Also a damned shame that Coach Tressel didn't send a coupe of "cards" of sorts to the OSU Compliance and AD depts. when he first became aware of potential improprieties in his program. There then would have been no need to , as you say, thank Pryor now.

  • I wish him the all the best, but if TP has a 5 game suspension for what he did in college, does the NFL levy the same punishment to coach Tressel?
