UofL vs UK game

  • UL looks overmatched and nervous but I wouldn't be surprised if they calmed down and had a run to make it close. UK is def supremely talented though

    LvilleBuckeye

  • UL has nothing to go to. It's street ball on both sides. Easy to beat a team that allows a 7 footer to dribble from the top of the key straight to the basket. If we play defense, we can beat UK.

  • Kentucky had 16 pts in 6 mins with Kidd Gilcrest.
Had 19 pts in 13 mins without him.
    This team is very good.

  • I thought both teams looked very nervous. Louisville hung as close as they did because of their defense irritating UK's ball handlers.

I agree UK looks way more talented from a player to player view. But, Louisville looked a little calmer at the end of the half.

Had Louisville not made a few silly errors late, this could be a couple point game.

Good basketball to watch. Anyones game. First 5 minutes of 2nd half will tell us if it is really a game, or, just a fluke that Louisville is in it still.

  • If Geing had any hands, and finished a dunk, a sure rebound for a dunk and a few other balls underneath, this game is a toss up.
Kentucky started fast, but they do not have great ball handlers.
If Siva can do anything, UL has a shot.
I have said before, the SEC is terrible, Kentucky has not faced a great defense since Louisville, they got away with several travels when Louisville pressed them late.
UL may lose, but Kentucky is not unbeatable. They have questionable guard play, and a short bench. Several times in that first half without alot of free throws to rest, you could see Teague, Davis and others bent over grabbing their shorts and fatigued. Kentucky's rebounding on the defensive boards was shakey, Louisville is the best team they have played in weeks due to a down trodden SEC.
Smith has to play this whole half for Louisville, he is their best dribble penetrator, and Siva has to do something besides turn the ball over. If Geing get some hands, we got a game.
Bohanen giving UK fits as well.

  • I wouldn't say that Doron Lamb and Marquise Teague are shaky. Their bench is short and it showed with Kid-Gilcrest on the bench, but they have 5 first rounders that start for this team.

  • Louisville keeps coming back and then giving up easy baskets.

Two horrible back to back turnovers that killed Louisville after foul called on a jump ball.
Getting nothing out of Siva is killing Louisville, he is 0 for 4 with no points and 4 turnovers.
Davis's dad, maybe they will show the six figure check he got as he shopped Anthony to the highest bidder.
Not sure why Pitino is waiting to bring the other Smith in, he is about the only creator Louisville has.

  • Louisville's passes are lazy and stupid. Wayyyy too many turnovers for Louisville to win.

Back doors are there as UK over plays the first pass.
Louisville's guard play getting about nothing is big.
Smith is the one guy who can take the game over in spurts.

    ohiost83

  • Gieng missing another dunk.
Louisville has extended their bench and been physical across the board, Kentucky is fatigued again.
Louisville just cannot finish and take advantage of it. Geing misses a dunk, then Smith misses his second short in lay up.
Several analysts said if Kentucky does not get a lot of free throws to rest while scoring, they can be wore down due to a short bench.

  • Could they pick an uglier green?

Also, I noticed the uniforms for L-ville weren't red, but the announcers never really explained it.

UL is playing like crap... I have no idea how this is even close!

  • Kentucky is gassed. If Louisville could have finished half those underneath offensive rebounds and a few open bricks, they would be ahead.
Kentucky's back court play is shakey, people can post they have five first round draft picks all they want, they do not handle the rock well with pressure.
Monday night if Kentucky moves on, either team could use a deeper bench, extend pressure and get physical and wear Kentucky down on little rest, just like Louisville is doing here.
Air ball by Louisville, Davis with a dunk. Louisville just cannot finish and has a bad half court offense.

Addidas has a new color... Infa-red! It is basically orange... But they call it red! :)

IT actually looks more red in person than it does on TV, but it is awful. Cincinnati had it as well. Adadias came out with three prototype jerseys. Baylor, Cincinnati and Louisville. Louisville looks like Syracuse, Baylor looks like Oregon and Cincinnati had Zubaz.

  • Pitino without much talent and no scoring guards outside of Smith, great game plan since early in the first half.
Louisville is extending pressure, using their bench, getting physical and wearing Kentucky out.
Love the hard foul on Gilchrist, send him flying to the floor, do not give an easy one.
Siva starting to catch fire, just in time.
Louisville just has to cut out the TO's and block out, because Kentucky has been brick city on tired legs.

    ohiost83

  • You gotta hand it to Louisville...they could have packed it in down double digits. But they roared back. Good game.

  • Gotta admit I thought this would be blowout city. Mad props to Louisville

Yep, Gilchrist got away with an off arm push and travel.
Monday is a short turn around, anyone Monday with a deeper bench with kids to rotate and extend pressure, play physical and foul hard to wear Kentucky down if they advance can beat them.
Davis is a heck of a player, but Geing and the other big men pinning him down low and playing him physically has had him bent over few times.
Geing's two missed wide open dunks may come back and haunt Louisville, those were gimmies.

    ohiost83

  • Kentucky with one of the worst 4 -2 breaks I have seen.

    shaunsimpson

  • Jones got away with a charge on that lay up, and Smith gets full contact on a lay up. Horrible reffing sequence.
Surprised they called Davis with the charge.
Louisville is getting wide open jumpers, just cannot hit any.
Smith missed another lay up, Louisville just killing themselves with missed bunnies and dunks.
If OSU moves on, I like our chances all along, guys like Ravenel and even Williams can come in and bang and put in minutes to wear UK down physically, just like UL is doing.
    Same with Thompson and Scott.
Just hit most of your open shots, minimize TO's and hit your open jumpers and bunnies and Kentucky is beatable.
