Update: Possession charge dropped against Dunn

This will be my last response...

    Fact....Dunn was not arrested...

I understand BN was quick to post someone else's bogus story to keep the readers informed...once it became apparent that Dunn was not arrested, it is my opinion that BN needed to replace the original bogus story with a corrected version of their own. They chose not to knowing their front page story and headline was a lie...sorry, I have a problem with that...other than that all is good...GO BUCKEYES...

FACT - Bucknuts reported that Todd Porter and WKNR reported Dunn cited for possession:
    http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Article/Frosh-RB-Dunn-Cited-For-Possession-82725

FACT - Bucknuts updated the article to show that it was just a traffic violation: "UPDATE: There are now reports surfacing that this was merely a $110 traffic violation that was committed on June 6 by Dunn."

FACT - Bucknuts updated again to show new reports coming from WKNR: "UPDATE II: WKNR is citing two sources saying that the incident this weekend is not related to the traffic incident in June. That's bad news for Dunn if true. We'll continue to update you on this story. "

FACT - Bucknuts posted another update saying Todd Porter reporting that Dunn was only cited not arrested. The title of the article reflects that Dunn was "cited": "UPDATE III: Todd Porter of the Canton Repository is reporting that Dunn was allegedly found with a marijuana pipe in his car, and was merely cited, not arrested. Dunn was initially pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, which he was also cited for. Both citations are misdemeanors. "

FACT - Bucknuts updated it a fourth time reflecting new information about the passenger also being cited for possession: "FINAL UPDATE: As of Monday morning at 9:05, Porter is reporting that a small amount of marijuana was also found in the car and Dunn was cited for possession. The passenger in his car was also cited for possession and not wearing a seat belt."

It seems like Bucknuts updated the article four times and the title of the article says "cited" not arrested. The story leads with the initial report and then proceeds to offer a timeline as new news comes in.

I think you can officially get off your high horse.

  • Obviously you don't get it...continual updates came in under the bogus story headline: "Dunn was arrested" when in fact he was not arrested...the bogus story was never pulled and made subscribers late to the party click on to read this bs and then scroll through numerous comment pages to get the real scoop...why did BN continue to keep this story active on their front page when they knew it wasn't true?...maybe Dave B can answer that...

Have you looked at it? I don't think you get it. They changed the title from "Arrested" to "Cited".

Scroll through numerous pages of comments???? The article is one page. Not even. The article is very small.

Are you complaining about the message board thread???????????

  • This is the entire article entitled "Frosh RB Dunn Cited for Possession":

WKNR 850 in Cleveland is reporting that Ohio State freshman running back Bri'onte Dunn was arrested on Saturday in Alliance, Ohio. When contacted, an OSU spokesperson had no comment on the matter.

Dunn was expected to get heavy playing time for the Buckeyes this season, especially while senior Jordan Hall was out with a foot injury. Junior Carlos Hyde will be the starter, and OSU also has third-year sophomore Rod Smith and true freshman Warren Ball.

Bucknuts will have more on this breaking story.

UPDATE: There are now reports surfacing that this was merely a $110 traffic violation that was committed on June 6 by Dunn.

UPDATE II: WKNR is citing two sources saying that the incident this weekend is not related to the traffic incident in June. That's bad news for Dunn if true. We'll continue to update you on this story.

UPDATE III: Todd Porter of the Canton Repository is reporting that Dunn was allegedly found with a marijuana pipe in his car, and was merely cited, not arrested. Dunn was initially pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, which he was also cited for. Both citations are misdemeanors.

FINAL UPDATE: As of Monday morning at 9:05, Porter is reporting that a small amount of marijuana was also found in the car and Dunn was cited for possession. The passenger in his car was also cited for possession and not wearing a seat belt.

I have no problem with that title....when I pulled up BN Sunday morning they were still running with "Dunn being arrested story" on the front page and when you click on the story there was pages of comments after the story...

So then you are angry that Bucknuts didn't get confirmation fast enough that Dunn wasn't arrested and wanted them to do updates immediately based on information passed along from message boards rather than confirmed sources?

Because Bucknuts made changes the minute they got official information.

Then it seems you are mad because a lot of people commented on the article and you felt obligated for some reason to read it all?
