I'll start by saying I agree with your overall point. But first:

1. When you equate the total revenue of $10 per month going back to BN, that not representative of the point some were making. What people are insinuating is that specifically THEIR $10 per month should warrant a website that does not have these issues. The reality is, this economy does not force them to be a member of this site. We all weigh the utility in everything. Hence, the reason why I broke down the items I find utility in as it concerns this site. If someone thinks the site going down for 30 min once every few months is too much to bear when weighing to overall financial impact of $10 per month despite the total value received from the core content provided, then those people were lost from the beginning and they will likely make the same complaints no matter where they go.

2. If you're suggesting that $10 per month should justify more spending on enhancements, then I think we're not considering Bucknuts margins and we're assuming we have some idea of their fixed and variable expenditures. Which, obviously, none of us do. We're also assuming that $23k per month (assuming thats accurate, however #3 says otherwise) for an operation like Bucknuts is somehow high or adequate.

3. Your total number is likely wrong. Because its assuming that all 2305 are paying VIP members. but we know thats not the case. We know non-VIP can view this board. They just can't view VIP tagged posts and they can't post themselves.

4. Why is "only $10 per month" a BS excuse. You only detailed potential income Bucknuts received. But you never detailed why its a BS excuse. Clearly the price point was considered favorable enough to make a purchase decision. I personally think its low. Please demonstrate how its not.

With all that said, I agree with your points about updates. Its not smart business. Its the equivalent of closing the freeway for paving during rush hour. Its stupid. However, we don't know the traffic numbers for all of 247. Bucknuts is not the only site. For all we know 247 may have metrics that suggest that it was the absolute best time. For all we know, the impact was minimally felt throughout the rest of the network.
