Great motivational idea! I feel sure that frosh will be working their tails off to get that stripe removed from their helmets.
Cooper should have fired himself back then too!!
Shock The World
Carter will be no more than a situational player here..EVER..he flashed about 3 plays during the spring game and everyone here goes nuts..he got pushed around on every other play..a total non-factor..I dont even think that Vrabel "pushing his pet" will get anymore than that from him..I dont see a football player with Carter PERIOD!!!

I like the idea of the black stripe. Its not even footing. When you come in as a freshman, you don't know jack squat. You should act respectfull to those who have payed their dues. It gives something for a player to work for. They get a sense of achievement. Reminds me of basic training. Then had gun belts we all wore. Big wide colorfull things. Probably gear they decommissioned and decided to give it to recruits to play with. Anyways there were two colors of gun belts. One was forest green with blackened metal trim and the other was this pristine parade ground white with brushed brass metal trimmings. Now understand me when I say the belts served no purpose other than decoration. We did not carry side arms in basic training all the time even though we constantly had a gun belt on. They used the green gun belts to signify a company of recruits who were below a certain point in their training (pre service week) and the pretty white belts for companies of recruits who were done with service week and about to graduate. Those belts were completely pointless much like the black stripe but man.....when we got to put on those nice pretty white worthless and without point gun belts....we were practically brimming with pride and self satisfaction. Those white belts, much like getting to remove that stripe, made us feel like we accomplished something after putting in a lot of work.
