It seems like there are too many unnamed sources with opinions about the team. To me those comments lack credibility.
I agree with the former Buckeye re our Defense. I also agree that we need to vary the Defense from play to play. The DBs and LBs need to be much closer to the line of scrimmage and the DBs need to be on the receivers at the line. We must have given up at least 40 passes completed at or behind the LOS and then turned into 5 to 15 yard gains. Everyone of those should have been contested and, if they were, none of the first 4 games would have been close and several of the passes would have been picked. I have always liked and respected Fickell! Still do, but he needs to adjust play by play and to really crank-up the intensity of the Defense. Withers too!
The former Buckeye's idea about playing Moore at MLB is intriguing. Last week I suggested playing Williams and/or Simon at MLB. Williams certainly has the size and speed and Simon is fast enough and would be incredible at stuffing runs. I also think that receivers would be worried about getting hit by Simon or Williams if they catch a pass over the middle. Moore seems to add little at DE but, if he is physical and smart, he could definitely add something at MLB.
As far as OSU trying to flip recruits from other Teams, I think they should just concentrate on getting Mitchell, Bell, Johnson and Gibson. Getting even 3 of those 4 would transform an already great class to perhaps the best class in the country. I say that because these four young Men are outstanding at positions of need for the Buckeyes, especially Mitchell and Bell.
