What do you miss most about Ohio?

  • Duane said...

Slight exaggeration? No. 8 Ohio cities in the top 50 in the country for the least number of cloudless days including Cleveland. Columbus comes in at number 57. The only states with more cloudless days in the top 50 are Washington and New York.

People, seriously? Ohio is gloomy! Y'all might be ok with that...I'm not. I repeat, I'm allowed to not miss Ohio...don't get butt-sore about it!

  • Cameo pizza in Sandusky. I miss the northern cold and dialect. The bucks are bigger also.

  • I do not miss winter...

If it snows-I stay inside...no interest in doing ANYTHING outside at that point...

  • I still live in Ohio and I miss Cleveland Browns Football. We haven't had a good team in 25 years.

  • Obviously, miss the family. Miss the scenic drives down 93 from campus to home in southern Ohio.

Miss the food...pizza has been mentioned by others but I don't think too many mentioned Catfish Biffs. I love me some Catfish. I also miss ice cream, I mean really good ice cream. I get Graeter's at the store here in St. Louis, but it's not the same as actually going to Graeter's.

I miss the weather. You wouldn't think St. Louis would be all that different, but the summers here suck ass. Super hot and humid. I love winter, and it's not the same here. Keep your sunny days, give me clouds. Adds a rustic charm.

Miss running on campus. The bike trail through Columbus was great. Nothing like running in the Shoe. Not too many hills in central OH, so the stadium steps served nicely for a good hill workout with the best scenery ever.

    Dammit, I miss Ohio!!!

  • the smells......fall leaves.......the fall grass fields..........grass.......cut grass...lilacs.....spring blossoms ...

the weather.......winter is just 40 days too long.

the people.......mid-westerners are the greatest, most kind folks you'll find.

the trees........God has blessed Ohio with a variety of quality trees

Friggin Florida is hot.....palm trees suck for shade or cooling....natives are rude.......tribes are violent - there's a reason for the current gun laws......flowers have no smell......no grass....but blue skies, warm winters, great seafood, and no state income tax.

  • First and foremost I miss my family very much. The other thing I miss is going to any bar on a Saturday during football season and everybody is decked out in OSU gear. Democrat, Republicans, atheist, religious folks all come together and root for a common cause.

What I also like is the traffic. It's not nearly as bad as the DC metro area and generally speaking Ohio drivers are more polite.

The other thing about C-bus is the ability to afford a nice house for about $300K. In Arlington, VA this "may" get you a studio. It's outrageous.

As far as Pizza is concerned, in my opinion the best pizza can be found in Northern Virginia and in NYC.

Wow all this love for Columbus pizza is shocking, especially Donato's. Been in Columbus since 96' came from the Cleveland NE area. Favorite Columbus pizza joints, Rubino's and Tristano's (transplant from Chicago making his own sausage and meatballs, and best chicago style in columbus, blows too much crust Fabian's out of the water). But Cleveland pizza kills Columbus everytime.

I hear you on the Donato's love. I've always considered it an average chain joint at best. As a native westsider, Angelo's is as good as it gets for me. The Cleveland food scene as a whole is incredible, and has been gaining nationwide acclaim as "foodie" culture has expanded in recent years. The only food I would really cede to any other Ohio city would be Montgomery Inn ribs down in Cincy.

  • I can only catch about 2/3 of them in eastern NC.

    Star,

I live in the eastern part of NC and see every game. Get DirecTV if you don't have it.

living in socal now and i can tell you i miss Donatos as well. I also miss getting Gyro's from the gyro shoppe (on henderson and off emerald). All the quick food places here are Taco Shoppes so you get sick of the lack of variety.

I miss the crisp air in the fall.. the colors of the trees as they change.

I miss being able to drink 30+ budlights with friends on a gameday without some beer putz snubbing his nose to "commercial beer". I know micro brews are big out here but there is nothing like a never ending flow of crisp light american lager.

and most of all i miss the PEOPLE!!!! GO BUCKS!

Man I feel you on gyros....I just wanna get to Hamilton rd and get one....

  • Ohio born and bred. Ohio til I'm dead.

Of course, I live in Stark County. The alpha and omega for all things football.

Seriously though, I will never leave. I'll encourage my kids to stay here too. I hate to see great people leave this state. Such a shame.

  • The smell of fresh cut hay, corn & wheat fields, Casano's Pizza, Dutch Loaf, real yeast donuts, the smell of Ohio woodlands, slow lazy rivers and thunder storms.
