What will Michigan fans do now

  • Now that the reality is setting in that their coach is not on Urbans level and that Urbans offense has no problem with Mattisons legendary (sarcasm) defense, what will they do now that they cannot use last years score as a rebuttal when confronted with these questions. I'm so glad to have gotten this win today to put the rest of the conference on notice...the B1G has and will always run through Columbus. I'm also glad that I won't have to have 40-34 shoved in my face ever again and that in we likely won't have to experience the pain of a loss to ttun often in the future. Love these seniors and love the direction Urban is leading this program!

  • Hope Hoke can recruit for their sake. We screwed the pooch in so many ways and still won. If I take off my scarlet colored glasses I look at an OSU team that is head and shoulders better than scUM. Simply more talent.

I will disagree on Mattison. He's known to be a great coach. And you don't take average players and lead the country in passing yards given up without great coach's.

    You can't handle the truth

  • According to some scUM fans they will be even better next year and should challenge for a MNC lol

  • Whether UofM plays the loser of Georgia vs. Bama, LSU or TAMU, they will be destroyed in the Capitol One Bowl and go to 8-5.
With Northwestern and MSU returning most players, and UofM going to those away games, plus Notre Dame, Ohio State and Nebraska, plus at Penn State, another 5 loss season is coming in 2013, mark it down.

No I wasn't trying to say Mattison is a bad coach. Clearly he is very good, but a lot of these folks want to act like the only reason Urban won at UF was Mattison, or at least he was a major part of it. I know a lot of posters here post on tbb and even over on the Michigans board, I was just trying to point out that it will be nice to have conversations with them where they have to give answers instead of one games score. Now they know that Urb is for real and clearly the best coach in the conference.

  • OSU played a very average game today and still won. What will this game look like when Urban brings in playmakers and has his philosophy deeper into the minds of our players. Did scUM realize that they lost with John Simon not even on the field? This was their last realistic shot to win against OSU in the next 5 years.

and that Urbans offense has no problem with Mattisons legendary (sarcasm) defense,

I hate to do this today, but I just want to insert a little bit of perspective.

Urban's Offense scored 6pts (2 FG) the entire second half and had only 3 drives of over 50 yards (1 ending in turnover and 2 in TDs) the entire game. So unless we are getting the ball on the plus side of the 50, we are not scoring threats against that defense.

Fortunately, our defense did even better against them today and we won the turnover battle 4-2.

I'm just saying we didn't light up their defense by any stretch of the imagination.

We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times with MULTIPLE penalties, a bad snap, Brax slipped on a scramble, lost fumble... I really believe we stopped ourselves more than they stopped us.

While all that you said here is true, I think it should also be mentioned that our offense gave their d plenty of help in the red zone with penalties, bad snaps, and Brax losing his footing a few times. Hyde was a guarantee for 5 a pop and we had wrs open all over the place. They had some timely plays on d for sure, but we gave them a lot of help.

  • We left at least 17 points off the board. If the team didn't resemble Cooper led teams at times, we would've won big.

What they lose this year it's 85% of its offense in DR and Roundtree as well as the threat of DR taking it to the house every time he touches it. DG has talent, BUT, he has no horse at RB to lean on, or a BIG TIME WR... I do think they have a decent shot to end up in the title game cause the Legends division and the teams they play except for NW play right into their defensive strengths. (MSU, Nebraska, and who else is even in that conference, Minnesota, Iowa...garbage)

Absolutely Spot-on about Simon...No, I don't think they are smart-enough to know who he is. You know Simon nails D-Tard in the backfield on that Bennett missed tackle.

So you're saying Meyer's offense THEORETICALLY has no problems with Mattison's Defense. I guess I could buy that. Of course, I could say the same about just about every offense and defense combo.

I say theoretically, because in actuality, bad snaps, penalties, OSU players slipping in their god-awful Nike slip-o-matics cleats, etc. IS part of the Meyer OSU offense. If you're going to assume those things never happen, you've got to also assume away all defensive penalties, slips, missed assignments, etc.too.

    Just my twocents.

  • As I and some others have said from the end of last year...Hoke is fools gold. Pretty much everything fell perfectly for Michigan last year from OSU scandal/sanctions/staff turmoil, arm punts going for big plays, and Michigan setting records for fumble recoveries. At the end of the day, Hoke was a .500 coach that had everything fall his way. This will not be a "10 year war" at all. The results of last year gave Michigan a false sense of security and an additional few years of denial that they hired the wrong coach. Now Meyer is here and will dominate, but this reality has not set in yet and won't for awhile. Michigan alumni will use every other excuse than the correct one...they chose the wrong coach....this is what will give us an extra few years of domination in the series and hurt the strength/perception of the Big Ten. But there is nothing we can do about that other than to keep delivering them beat downs. The new streak of domination started today....enjoy the ride.
