I think he's on to something. It's called self-fulfilling prophecies with ESPN's deal with the SEC. They CANNOT afford to have the SEC sag or not appear in BCS games...so they make sure it doesn't happen.

It also explains why the SEC's OOC scheduling is a total joke and why they are terrified to play big time opponents (like tOSU, TX, USC, etc.) even in the good weather of Sept. and Oct., much less in a playoff format in Nov.-Dec.

I have been saying for years that South Carolina and Arkansas are just average teams...not top ten teams but it looks good on an Alabama/LSU resume to have beaten two top ten teams. I keep telling that to folks down here in Alabama but of course it falls on deaf ears.

South Carolina has lost the last 3 out of 4 bowl games "when the game matters"nb
Arkansas is 2-2 in the re bowls in the last five seasons (ineligible for bowl in 2008) one of those victories over powerhouse East Carolina.

Yet here they both are ranked 10 and 11 according to ESPN. Neither had a top 10 recruiting class (Scout) either.

Having said all that it's one thing to "manipulate" your way into the National Championship game but it's another to win it. Teams will have to start beating them for this to all go away.
