Why the ND hate?

  • Because they suck. Because they're on NBC every week. Because I hate Charlie Weis. Because I hate Brian Kelly.

And most of all because, as a catholic, Im beyond offended that uND thinks theyre the epicenter, the governing body for catholics everywhere. That whole school can drown in piss.

  • Growing up Notre Dame was my second favorite team. We share a common enemy in scUM, of course. I wish ND would join the Big Ten. Notre Dame has unparalleled tradition. They are from the Midwest.

My only issue with ND lately is that their fans live in the past. ND has not been in the national championship discussion for almost twenty years. ND fans' claims that it is because of their rigorous academic standards smacks of arrogance and delusion. ND has not attracted a top tier coach in a long time because it is a pressure cooker and it's either win it all or else. Those expectations need to be more realistic. ND has their own network and their own special BCS deal. Unlike other fans, I don't blame them one bit for taking advantage of the special opportunities they have being Notre Dame. However, if their on-field performance continues as is they will lose those things.

  • I have been around a few ND fans who are the opposite of what you said. Thats why I don't like them

  • I hate how they feel they are the best football program ever. In the past, present and future when they really haven't been relevant for a while.

I also hate that they get special consideration by the BCS or anyone else. They get certain guarantees that others don't get and it is very wrong.

I also hate that they are scared to join a conference. Not our conference, any conference. It doesn't make sense and it makes me want to vomit!

Besides that and them giving me an ill feeling every time anything Domers is discussed, I have no issue with them.

  • The fact that Notre Dame gets 5* recruits only to become irrelevant, when they could've came to Ohio State and be relevant.

    That's my only beef.

  • Second favorite team after OSU, I love Notre Dame and almost got tickets to go see them in Ireland for the Navy game.

+1, I just never got NDs recruiting pitch. "Come to ND, were 5 star recruits loose to navy"

I dislike the NBC - Notre Dame connection, sick of seeing a team with a mediocre record chew up primetime football in the fall. Every stinkin' Saturday!

Did you ever notice how much make up their play by play man wears? Dude looks like a drag queen.

  • A buddy of mine and i walked around and bought tickets and it was like they were giving them away.we held up our fingers for 2tickets andwithin five minutes had six sets for a grand total of forty bucks. We sold the other four tickets and made 80bucks.

He said i bet you couldn't do that at osu, i said you're right, two tickets would have cost us 200, because of supply and demand.

It wasn't very loud, no music, no scoreboard.

  • I have not liked ND since the 80's (I am 70 so for years I just ignored them), I worked with a lot of old Catholics who thought ND was where the Pope lived! They were riduculous and it became very irrattating then Charley Cheeseburger and Kelly both came about and I don't know how even ND fans can stand them. You add in the special deal on BCS (WHY???) and it isn't hard to root against them BUT I don't hate them (not relevant enough to hate)

  • I grew up Catholic and liked ND a lot. They are still third for me behind tOSU first and Toledo second. I have a bunch of friends who are ND fans and there isn't an arrogant bone in all of their bodies combined. Everyone says we're arrogant. They are wrong. It is also always the first thing we use on any fan base to explain why we hate them. A couple of people are idiots so the whole fan base is arrogant. It's pointless.

My hatred for Ann Arbor College sucks up all the hatred energy I can muster, day and night, winter and summer.

I was born and raised in South Bend Indiana and have followed Notre Dame football my entire life. Its in my blood, like Buckeye football is for my son and daughter. I have lived in Columbus for 10 years now and follow/cheer for the Buckeyes as well. I was as excited as anyone to see Urban get the gig and I'm not even pissed that Decker flipped to the Buckeyes. I belong to Mike Franks ND site as well and follow Irish recruiting very closely, ND is fine at OT. For the life of me I cannot understand why ND is always bashed here. Go to a game in South Bend with a OSU jersey on and see how well you are treated. Visiting fans are treated extremely well and the ushers will go out of there way to help you. You can tailgate in peace and enjoy your time without worrying about beer bottles and bags of urine getting tossed at you. ND has not been a real threat for a national title since they got hosed by FSU in 93. ND fans realize this. ND fans don't think ND football is the be all end all. We understand where we are and hope for better days. I think ND's fan base is too nice, almost to the point of being soft at times. So I have to ask, why do you hate ND so much?

For me it is part of growing up in Toledo. You are either a scUM fan a Notre Dame fan or a buckeye fan it is actually pretty well split. And since I grew up in a mostly Catholic neighborhood there were a lot of ND fans. So we all had our teams and I always felt ND got a lot of good players just because they were the premiere Catholic football school.

  • coffee What was the OP? Something about ND? Seriously, I don't even know what their record was last year because I couldn't care any less about it. I don't hate ND. I... I... nothing them. I am apathetic. I hope they beat AACC. I hope they beat USC if it helps OSU.

Otherwise, really don't care. Maybe that's worse than hating them. Ask me how I feel when they are relevant instead of relics.
