Nothing really. There were rumors that a ND analyst talked to Isaac and tried to sway him against UM by saying that Michigan won't want him anymore and stuff like that after Smith committed. Pretty sure those are false, though.
As for the OP's question, no. If you go by Scout we might because they give out 50 5* players every year, but if you go by this site or Rivals we won't have 5 5 stars. Our best chances at future 5* players are: Morris, Thomas, Isaac, and Cravens. I'd be shocked if we end up with Cravens, but it's possible. My guess is we have 3 5* players on this site. OSU will probably have a lot more.

Except that it makes for interesting fodder, what does it really matter? Michigan is putting together a nice class, and it's kind of fun that we are doing it so early, but OSU will end up with a higher rated class. As long as Urban is in Columbus, the Buckeyes will have a talent advantage over the Big Ten. It doesn't necessarily mean we can't beat you, but as I always say, getting into a recruiting battle with OSU is just not smart for almost any fan base.. And doubly so now that Urban Meyer is in town.

Isn't Michigan actually hurting their chances of having a truly elite class by offering so many scholarships so early in the game? Let's face it, lesser recruits are more likely to commit early because they fear their scholarship won't be available if they wait too long. The great players know they can wait til signing day and they'll have scholarships available. Michigan may not have hurt their chances for Isaac - but they definitely didn't help them by taking Smith. They could have had Schutt last year, and though Michigan fans like to claim Ohio State got their leftovers - I guarantee in hindsight Michigan wishes they wouldn't have taken lesser players early on so they had room for Schutt.
Michigan has a solid class for 2013 even if they only sign the 16 guys they have. No doubt, Michigan is recruiting the way they should. But are they settling for 'solid' by offering so many scholarships, when they should go for 'elite'? It seems that every prospect even mentioned as 'talking' to Ohio State already lists an offer from Michigan. It's hard to get five 5* prospects when you're already up to 16 commits and have one borderline 5* kid in Morris.

Will TTUN end up with five 5 stars?
