Will TTUN end up with five 5 stars?

  • I'm locked in a Facebook battle with a meatchicken fan. He claims they will finish up with five 5 stars.

    MORRIS
    LEVENBERRY
    ISAAC
    THOMAS
    KUGLAR

    What are your thoughts?

  • Go to the 24/7 UM board, there's something going on about Ty Isaac.

Haha calm down man, with Michigan being our arch rival, why wouldn't we talk about them? Go to their board on 24/7 or mgoblog and you'll see them posting the same stuff. No need to try to restrict the posters from posting what they want to talk about especially if you're on the front row paying for it. Duplicate threads sure but not this.

Back to the discussion, right now I think Morris is the only 5 star currently committed.

Are you crazy man? If I want ask a question on this forum (that I pay for) I'm going to do so. You have the option to skip over it if you are this upset.

Is there some other website that lists these guys as 5 stars?

  • It all seems like a dead end. SCUM is afraid some reporter told Ty Isaac that they are no longer recruiting him because of the Smith commitment.

Nothing really. There were rumors that a ND analyst talked to Isaac and tried to sway him against UM by saying that Michigan won't want him anymore and stuff like that after Smith committed. Pretty sure those are false, though.

As for the OP's question, no. If you go by Scout we might because they give out 50 5* players every year, but if you go by this site or Rivals we won't have 5 5 stars. Our best chances at future 5* players are: Morris, Thomas, Isaac, and Cravens. I'd be shocked if we end up with Cravens, but it's possible. My guess is we have 3 5* players on this site. OSU will probably have a lot more.

I don't think they get any 5 stars. They have to cherry pick preseason rankings of players to get a list of 5 star players right now. After the season, they will have none.

I look for Morris to drop down, Thomas to switch, Isaac may or may not be a Wolverine, and agree about Cravens.

  • Except that it makes for interesting fodder, what does it really matter? Michigan is putting together a nice class, and it's kind of fun that we are doing it so early, but OSU will end up with a higher rated class. As long as Urban is in Columbus, the Buckeyes will have a talent advantage over the Big Ten. It doesn't necessarily mean we can't
beat you, but as I always say, getting into a recruiting battle with OSU is just not smart for almost any fan base.. And doubly so now that Urban Meyer is in town.

Totally agree with u. Tired of all the thread Nazis trying to bully and police what people post about. If u are tired of reading about the subject then switch to a different channel. Stop bitching about it and realize that if u are that upset about it, maybe u should spend less time on the boards. Don't care if u down vote me for this......

Isn't Michigan actually hurting their chances of having a truly elite class by offering so many scholarships so early in the game? Let's face it, lesser recruits are more likely to commit early because they fear their scholarship won't be available if they wait too long. The great players know they can wait til signing day and they'll have scholarships available. Michigan may not have hurt their chances for Isaac - but they definitely didn't help them by taking Smith. They could have had Schutt last year, and though Michigan fans like to claim Ohio State got their leftovers - I guarantee in hindsight Michigan wishes they wouldn't have taken lesser players early on so they had room for Schutt.

Michigan has a solid class for 2013 even if they only sign the 16 guys they have. No doubt, Michigan is recruiting the way they should. But are they settling for 'solid' by offering so many scholarships, when they should go for 'elite'? It seems that every prospect even mentioned as 'talking' to Ohio State already lists an offer from Michigan. It's hard to get five 5* prospects when you're already up to 16 commits and have one borderline 5* kid in Morris.

They have 3 on scout and Morris is also a 5-star on 24-7, I bet they end up with Levenberry but I don't know that he will be a 5-star on any site but a high 4. Isaac could be Blue but my bet is that he is a Trojan.

By the way post what you want as long as it's football related. Who gives a shit about your star-rating. I like discussing this stuff, so many guys on this site get so uptight about anything that isn't kissing ass for OSU that it makes me question if they know anything more about football other than that they are Buckeye fans.

    JDgopher

  • Star ratings are just like attractiveness. I might be more attracted to one chick but i want the better lay. Then again i always take the better looking one.

Yeah, even Bax posted an article on it and if people don't stop, he's going to take his ball and go home. Who gives a damn if Bax posted an article on it. There have been others but when Bax does it, he's some type of gold standard.

People should be able to talk about tsun's recruiting class on this site. I have an interest in their class and I'm sure just about every poster on here has an interest. I don't think their class is worth losing sleep over but they are bringing in talent and will continue to do so for a while. Heck, I want to know how Wisconsin and PSU are doing along with the rest of the Big Ten. Considering the amount of talent in Ohio compared to that other state and Urban simply has accomplished more than Hoke, we'll have higher rated classes when Feb 1st rolls around every year. The only reason the "insert name of recruit just committed to tsun" got old was because they had about eight or nine in a 48 hour period. Yes, it got old but it was worthy of conversation as well. Even Bill K gives us run downs of how the rest of the Big Ten is doing in recruiting and we all enjoy his opinion on the other teams.

83, I think your insight is great on recruits or the way we play but lighten up, it's a valid question that he can ask.

    Agreeance.

It seems to me from just quickly browsing their class they are filling up with "solid" players but not many elite prospects. They are looking borderline Wisconsinish and Hoke is acting like Ron Zook. I also would be concerned with filling up a class with so many guys that have not even finished their junior year in high school. Of course some of these could blow up next fall (statistically unlikely for more than 1 or 2), but as someone else mentioned, what happens if several of these guys don't have senior years of the caliber that makes them truly an upper-echelon Big10 prospect? Since they have already committed, they are going to get a "Top School Commitment" boost in their ratings which may mask a sub-par senior season. If he pulls some of these offers before signing day for young men that have committed, then the Hoke Honeymoon is going to be over when it comes to recruiting. Frankly it looks like Hoke, while obviously a great recruiter, is indicating that his strategy is too much like he is still at Ball State.

I like the, intentional or not, approach that The Meyer is exhibiting by going after the truly elite kids early (that odds on are not going to regress), and filling out the class with kids at positions of need after having a chance to see them at their senior year summer camps and maybe their whole senior season.

I see much more downside than upside to Michigan's approach. If numbers is what makes you comfortable, then have at it. It just seems nuts to have 16 commitments less than 2 months after the previous signing date, unless of course you have a slew of 5 star kids.

    We'll see....
