sec commish, slive, no playoff games in big ten country.

  • ok guys, any thoughts on this? in a recent interview, sec commissioner mike slive stated that he is not a big fan of playing any post season playoff games in big ten country. although both pac 10 and big 10 officials are in favor of an on campus playoff, similar to the nfl playoff model. anyone else feel as though this would mean that sec teams would no longer have a strangle hold on home field advantage, being that most current bowl games take place in the south. guess we may never know, but was curious as to what you guys think?

  • I have said since the beginning that there is no way they would agree to it and an on campus playoff will never happen (well at least for a coup,e of cycles).

  • They might not have a choice on the matter. Its gonna be a bid out process and if places like Indy or Detroit or what not win the bid, they get the game. You think a Playoff game in NY wouldn't be huge. Just wait when the superbowl gets played there and they rake in more money then god. A northern trip of playoff games is more then likely to happen.

  • Haven't seen the original comments, but the SEC never has been comfortable coming north. Perhaps seeing the once incredible futility of Florida pro teams (especially Tampa Bay) making the up-map trek. B1G Ten stadiums are bigger (generally) and the conditions towards the end of the year are exactly counter to the types of schemes and athletes they assemble. Frankly, that the B1G Ten has any success at all in bowl games is completely counterintuitive. However, there ought to be more B1G Ten/SEC games up north in the mild pre-conference season (and, frankly, a few late season games sprinkled in as nothing would be more fun than to see OSU play LSU at the end of November in the 'Shoe). And I'm sure Wisky wouldn't mind a home and home arrangement with Alabama when the darkening days of oncoming winter would be broken by a trip south (and the joy of watching the Tide freeze over the following year).

If they refuse to play neutral in B10 country, screw em. What will be funny is when they finally give in to neutral sites and B10 country ponies up like a big dog and pulls both semi-final games north and teams from the SEC have to come to a hostile site (indoors or not) for these big games. I'd personally be pulling for Soldier Field as a host site. although I doubt that happens since it's a natural grass facility.

    What a joke

  • just consider this.........our entire team is in the process of converting to one of these southern teams which fear playing in these conditions. Not saying it's good or bad.......it just is. Careful what we wish for comes to my mind.

  • Hey SEC.. You scared bros?

    reservemickey

  • THAT..is what makes the NFL game sooooooo damn entertaining...Lambeau field, Soldier Field, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New York, New England........southern boys play in these games..its an advantage to southern teams that NEVER play in weather blow60 degrees..Im calling PUSSIES, they're thunder will be foreva lost and they know it

  • A team built like the last handful of Bama teams would not totally fold in bad weather, but a lot of the southern teams would.

I think back to a couple of years ago when Wisconsin played Miami (in Florida, but the temp. dropped to like the mid 40's...not even that particularly cold) and Miami looked like they just did not want to even play. Weather does and should play a part in football. I'm not a fan of moving all of the games indoors.

Good northern teams will fill the largest stadiums in the worst weather for a big game (heck we will come out in bad weather to watch a scrimmage..see the spring game)

  • We all know what the SEC commish is worried about so, let him fret. Eventually, those guys will have to travel up North to play. IMO, the colder the better. What a bunch of wussies. lol.

    csoto47

  • OSU would have a few more NCs with a playoff where the games are not in sec / pac10 weather. Bottom line is the sec is cheating cowards.

    Go Bucks!

No we are building our team to increase overall team speed. But we are still a B1G team and will be able to run power and operate in the wind, rain, snow, and other cold elements just like the other B1G teams. Just because we are faster does not mean we cannot play in the cold.

Completely agree. Southern boys don't like to play in the cold. Can't wait.
