Hoke is building a powerful downhill running team that may be at it's best in cold weather such as November. While we continue to get smaller faster players I hope we also recruit more power in the offense so we can also play smash mouth in cold weather and neutralize their power and beat them with speed.

Not picking at you, but honestly, can you name the last game we played in the snow/sleet/mud? Cold air doesn't slow us down, only sloppy field conditions. If it's just cold, it's cold for everybody thus the difference in speed should still be evident.

I think Meyer realizes that he needs to be a little different in the B1G then he was in the SEC and that is why you will continue to see a power run game to go with the spread. At MSU last year they were lined up in their base spread formation, smashing the ball between the tackles to run out the clock, same thing against scUM. He has added this power game to a spread offense and with all of the new talent he has coming in, they will be able to incorporate quite a few more bells and whistles into that base. Now teams will not be able to key in on Brax or Hyde like they were because they will have to worry about a bubble screen out wide or someone taking the top off of the defense out wide. Meyer is building a multifaceted offense that can attack every area of the field at the same time, it will be a nightmare for defenses, especially the defenses in the B1G that are used to defending pro-style offenses.

On defense, once LB is sorted out, I really have no more concerns haha

Don't forget, Meyer had a power running game, it was with Tebow and the outside was with his smaller faster backs. Now he has power RB's and a faster QB to threaten the edge. He still has both covered as he did with Tebow. I prefer our setup with the RB being the power back.

He also has the speed now to get to the edge not just with his quarterback. The complexities of this offense for a preparing defense haven't even begun to be seen yet.

Agree....really looking forward to next 5 years of OSU football!! Honestly not sure if I'm more excited for the offensive improvement or what this defense is going to look like. I must admit, even though we've fielded very good defensive teams, I've always enjoyed watching the SEC defenses. I'm really looking forward to the Silver Bullets with a lot more team speed than we've seen. It really could be something....

Exactly and by 2014 the offense is going to be unstoppable and probably urban's best ever.

You think about having a sr qb in Braxton who has gotten better every year and who is already deadly as it stands right now with our power backs in Dunn, Smith, and ball, plus the playmakers of eze marshall, and wilson in their second seasons in the playbook with baugh at hback te. Wow.

The only downside is the breaking in a four new olinemen as it takes them time to gel.

I only hope that Dodson Boren efflien and the rest can come in and get a lot of meaningful snaps this year to help develop them a little but this year for preparation of what should be a very dangerous team.

Plus this doesn't even take into account the incredible amount of badasses brought in to play defense.

If for some reason we don't make it the nc game this year in 14 it would be a crime.

That's what the TTUN fans don't get. I understand they are excited about Hoke building a "Power" offense, and they point to Bama as their example. Problem is, they aren't getting the same talent Bama is at the skill positions and on defense. In order to "control" the game with the power offense, your defense has to get the other team off the field. Also, you have to have speed at the receiver spots (contrary to TTUN WR coach's thoughts) to occupy the safeties. If not, the safeties are now in the box stuffing the run. I'm looking forward to our Bucks defending them without DRob. He's been the only player since Woodson that has made me hate to see the ball in his hands. Basically, stop their run then tee off on the QB. With no DRob they are going to become more vanilla. Heck, they weretrying to run DRob up the middle on us, that will be the only place they can run with their power game. Not worried honestly. Carr had much more talent at skill positions during the Henne/Hart/Edwards/Manningham etc teams and they went 0-4....

I believe TTUN can get all the OL recruits they want, but if the defense they go up against has a DL that is faster, we've seen what happens. They spend all day in the backfield (like us against UF and LSU).

  • Watch how quickly they turn on his ass when he can't beat Urban. He's going to
Be 0-2 after this year against Urban, and if he doesn't win in 2014, in the shoe, he's in trouble. While they are bringing in a nice OL and some good defensive players, those players take time to develop.

+1 have to agree I get a kick out of every scum poster that thinks they are becoming the next Alabama based solely on their o line recruiting. Unlike the scum posters I actually researched Alabamans recruiting the last five years, and in no year did they take as many o linemen as scum has. In fact bama's highest rated players were on defense and skill positions most of their o linemen were 4 star guys with an occasional 5 not nearly as highly rated as their skill players.

You have to have a complete team and very good depth. When two teams match up sure the starters are important but if all things are equal than it comes down to depth, special teams, desire, and coaching.

Hoax isn't going to out coach anyone because he's stupid plus he doesn't even wear a headset to know what's going on. He's turned himself into a glorified fan on the sidelines.

Plus other than one position group there are more question marks than any other top true program. You can't compete against the bamas or osu's of the world without top talent at all positions. They don't have it.

And his Rose Bowl record wasn't great either. But Hoke will have an undefeated Rose Bowl record, for sure. 0-0.
