who should Browns take in Round 2?

  • thoughts? still need a RT, could Adams be the answer?
Still need a WR, is the kid from GT the answer?

I give them a solid D for yesterdays round 1. I think Richardson is really good but could have had him at 4 without trading away picks and if they would have kept Hillis, they could have just taken Kahlil and shored up the line for years to come.

Blackmon could have been taken if you wanted a WR instead. No matter, I just don't see the organization improving

  • They really need to get this one right too.

I would try and get the OL from georgia. There are quality WR in the whole draft.

  • Hillis was a lockerroom cancer. No one wanted him there - especially the players - had to go. Why would you want to draft your starting right tackle at 4 when you can literally get a decent starting right tackle in the 2nd or 3rd round?

Even so, Trent Richardson will be a much better and dependable player than Peyton Hillis. I love the pick.

Brandon Weeden on the other hand....

  • You don't see Trent Richardson as improving the franchise? Colt McCoy is not good, I don't care about the lack of targets around him. When you watch Browns games and its 3rd and 10, are you even the slightest bit confident that McCoy can make a play to move the chains? I'll take Weeden over him and a RB who can protect the QB, catch out of the backfield and be a game changer.

Whether or not you/I 100% agree with what they did, it is laughable to think the franchise didn't improve.

  • The best WR on he board

  • OT or WR at this pick. I would rather have Hill because I think the Browns need a taller reciever instead of the possession WR that they have enough of. But he will probably be gone by then.

How can anybody evaluate McCoy when there is no one around him and the guy is running for his life all of the time. Richardson is a very good pick and will pay off immediately. I would have taken DeCastro or Reiff at 22. You can get Cousins or Keenum in the 2nd.

This. Tom Brady couldn't win with the personnel that McCoy had last year and neither will Weeden this year. The smart play was to build the OL and WR corp and let Colt have another year. Cleveland isn't going to win this year and are going to be right back in the top 5 next year looking at Barkley, Murray, Jones, or any other elite level QB who materializes this year. Now they have put another kid in a position to fail by neglecting WR and giving the QB no options. Weeden is a no win situation for the Browns, he either becomes a wasted 1st rounder because they will have to draft QB again next year, or they avoid taking a true franchise caliber QB next year because they have already invested a 1st rounder in Weeden. Terrible position to put the franchise in.

  • I'm hoping for this scenario or something close. Browns trade a 4, a 6 or 7 next year to get another 2nd round pick. With the 1st I'm taking Hill from Ga Tech. With the 2nd I'm taking Upshaw from Alabama if he's still there. You get a quality receiver and a OLB who can get after the QB. That's what I'd live to see but the browns will probably do something different.

Colt McCoy would go 3-13 if he was NE's starting QB. I don't think NE WR's are very good. The TE's are exceptional, but Colt would have to be able to put some zip on the ball to throw it down the seam to take advantage of them. Everyone looks at Welker, but the guy was a special teams player before coming to NE. The RB's on that team are awful. Tom Brady is a top 3 QB of all-time...take him out and they are only better than the Colts because the Hoody is the Man.

    Colt isn't an NFL QB.

Jeff Phelps just pointed out on the radio that Kurt Warner didn't come to the NFL until he was 26 or so and didn't start till he was 28. Bad move by the Rams. Steve Young sat behind Montana and didn't start till he was 31. I'm not saying Weeden will have a similar path, that's ridiculous, but it's now on Hecker to get the WR's around Weeden to help him out. At least the guy has an NFL arm attached to his shoulder. Hope he has the other intangibles.

I hope the Browns go Hill or Randle. No way do they pick Weeden and leave him the worst corps of WR in the NFL. After that, OL or defense...they need to improve just about every position on defense as well.

  • Brownies need to pick up Oline help more than WR help. A QB's best friend is the run game and rookie QB's always hold the ball too long in the pocket. If they get a RT that would help both of the above situations. I hate the Weeden pick... I hope H&H can land some good players these next couple days.

  • They have cornered themselves on OT as a result of jumping the gun on Weeden.

Martin or Glenn must be the pick at 37.

David and Brown are falling, I'd honestly be ecstatic to land one of those OLB's in the 3rd.

Follow that up with Posey at the top of the 4th and I'd have very little to bitch about all around.

    RB Trent Richardson
    QB Brandon Weeden
    RT Jonathon Martin
    OLB Zack Brown
    WR Devier Posey

This is the best case scenario I can see for the Browns draft through Rd 4.
