I have to question why Penn State let the NCAA fast track the ruling then agree to it without a fight. Some people say because they just want to get this behind them and start rebuilding as soon as possible, I don't buy that. I think Penn State gave in because they have way to many skeletons in the closet and if anyone starts digging, they would find enough to shut them down for good. I hate that things like this effect others who had nothing to do with the scandal but a lot of Ohio State players got hurt by what a few idiots did, You didn't see anyone from Penn State or ESPIN coming to Ohio States defense, they wanted us to die a slow death.

The NCAA has bylaws on ethics. So yes, they can certainly come down with penalties. This was not a standard infractions case. Emmert said that in his presser. That's why he went to the board. Every single member of the board agreed that something must be done. They sat around and discussed what they would do. They let Penn State know this is what they wanted to do. Penn State agreed and signed a decree. The end. If Penn State didn't agree I have no doubt they could have forced this into an infractions situation where in all likelihood harsher penalty would've been rightfully enacted.
I'm not sure what some folks are getting upset about. The NCAA basically fast-tracked the whole deal to PSU's benefit. I cannot overstate this. To PSU's benefit. The last thing they would've wanted would be for this to be dragged out over 1-2 years because rest assured that would be 1-2 more years of potential bad press and potential issues with recruiting.

I agree also.
I just don't get the vibe of people on here anymore. It's seems like everyone hates everything besides OSU. WTF is going on with this board.
This is probably only a hadnful of people on here that actually have a realistic mind, and can think outside the box.

People are rightfully pissed about the way PSU fans treated us last year. The way a lot of people are rejoicing in this reminds me precisely of how other fans piled on OSU. But I just don't believe in returning a wrong for wrong.
There are actually other ways to view this situation as evidenced by Mandel and Musberger's arguments and now, apparently Dave Biddle.

What choice did they have? With the emmense pressure on the school to resolve this, and people like yourself who refuse to take a step back and look at the absolute uniqueness of this situation (regardless of the heineous acts), they had no choice. (this is where you tell me kids were raped to inject emotion and public rage into this derailing any attempt to look at it objectively, and then insult me some more while you're at it)
What you dont get is the result may be the same at the end, but you absolutely refuse to allow it to get there.
So you now have a precedent off a report that the school could not object to for public policy reasons.
Some people see the consequences and danger of rushing to resolve something rather than taking your time.

NCAA rules are not a court of law, therefore not subject to due process. That is why there is no due process. We had this same issue with OSU last year. ALL D-1 schools are a part of the NCAA and in agreement to be governed by it's bylaws. Mark Emmert said it best in that this is a matter of common decency. The school Pres, VP, AD, iconic HC, (and lord knows who else), conspired for years to keep this issue quiet. That is an absolute fact. No, Penn State, alums, fans, & athletes didn't rape little boys, it's leaders allowed it to happen, thus allowing Sandusky to use it's football program and facillities as bait. That is also a fact. This is worse type of LOIC to EVER happen. Using the logic of "we are punishing the players who had nothing to do with this" is ridiculous. That garbage could just as easily be applied to any school placed under NCAA sanctions. PeeSU has agreed to the punishment. The NCAA proposed the punishment and told them that they could contest it, but if more came out, they WOULD get the death penalty. PeeSU chose correctly. There is much, much more to this....trust me. Things like payoffs. How else do you think this stayed quiet for so many years? How anyone can really believe this is not the NCAA's business is beyond me. Many on this very board wanted to see Jim Tressel strung up by the balls for not telling the NCAA about some kids traiding their own stuff for tattoos, for gods's sake! THE LEADERS AT PeeSU ALLOWED LITTLE BOYS TO GET RAPED FOR YEARS! Where are your morals? They got far less than they deserved....end of story! I ask the same question as above, would we be hearing all this liberal media sneviling if this were OSU? Absolutely not.

What choice did they have? If the stuff in the report was not true they could have said it's not true. Why do you act like this is difficult and their hands were tied?
And I have taken a step back and looked at the uniqueness of the situation. So has the NCAA and that's why they did something so unprecedented and handed down this penalty so quickly.

There are pending criminal charges which CAN devulge further evidence, especially involving one of the alleged conspirators.
Thats significant. What if he is found innocent? What if a different context is provided? What if new evidence is devulged?
You DO NOT know the answer to this even though you act like you know everything.

Where did I ever say it's because Sandusky raped little boys???? I know it's not and that's why I am not worried about the NCAA levying sanctions for any crimes that are committed like some of you are.
I posted the exact reason that the NCAA gave on its website. Go find it yourself. Maybe you need to go read that so you know why the NCAA levied the decision so quickly.

They acted with impunity against the institution without a hearing based off a report.
Penn State didn't rape any kids, Jerry Sandusky did. BUT, they did turn the other way when they were told about it.
The question is can you attempt to destroy a football program when they essentially violated a societal moral duty and the president of the school legally failed to report without full due process?
No one wants to hear this, but its a valid question.
I dont know the answer, but would have liked to seen the results from the criminal case(s) first, not simply the Sandusky trial.
