and a little confirmation from Brandon Castel.....
By BCast on 13:19:18 07/02/12 Being told the Chase Farris move from defensive line to offensive line is "almost a certainty" at this point.
He was already going to have a hard time getting on the field before they added Washington, Spence and Schutt to the mix. Plus Sevon Pittman will be healthy again to start fall camp.
I don't like this move nearly as much as the Darryl Baldwin move. IMO, Baldwin was a guy who was probably never going to play on the d-line and they were desperate for tackles in the spring. Baldwin could really grow into that position. Never really had the temperament for defense at this level.
I know the Buckeyes are stacked with talent on the d-line, but I thought Farris had a great spring. He is a total "see ball, get ball" type of player, so it will be interesting to see if he can transition to assignment-based football on the offensive line.
At 6-4, 286, he has good size to be a tackle or a guard, but I just don't see this move working out as well as the Baldwin one.

This speaks more to the talent level of the D-line recruits Meyer is bringing in. Making the switch from d-line to 0-line is normally not a great problem because d-lineman are usually more athletic and quicker with their feet. They may have been good d-lineman but end up being better offensive lineman. If you watch some of the line play from Urban's Florida team the lineman were on the whole quicker than what we are used to seeing from our lineman.

The only team that scares me with our new look, a look that we have been transitioning to for a few years now(smaller and faster across the board) is Wisconsin. They are, were, and always will be BIG and FAT. Get behind on those FAT SOB's and they ground and pound. They are not smart enough(Bielema is dumber than Bucky) to do it against miniature teams in bowl games..............but they do it all year in the Big Ten. I HATE THAT FAT TEAM!!!!!!
