Quick question, is a recruit allowed to visit a coaches home ? thanks .
Not sure about that. If I recall that was one of the violations Bruce Pearl was charged with. Will have yo do some digging.
Found it, this is an excerp from a USA Today article.
The committee found that Pearl and the former assistants lied during the NCAA's investigation related to a Sept. 20, 2008 cookout at Pearl's home in which recruits were present, an NCAA violation.

That's odd. how does Saban get away with Bell being at his house ?
Aaron Craft, who had originally committed to Tennessee in the summer of 2008, said he was at that cookout and felt that something was wrong. He decommitted in the spring of 2009, then committed to OSU in June 2009.
It wasn't that Craft was at his house, its that he was only a junior at the time.
I recently saw an interview with Saban, he said he keeps his rings on the coffee table and shows them to recruits.

Hating scUM since 1964
can anyone read this ? sounds like UT slides in front ?
Can't read it myself, but couple interesting things that can be gleaned from that thread + what I've heard elsewhere:
1) He's going to visit Vanderbilt this weekend (no real threat imo)
2) Andrew Bone, Bama Rival's writer, supposedly said yesterday that he doesn't think Bell will be in Bama's class. He thinks he'll end up at TENN. If things are even the way Bell has said in the past, and Bama is no longer such a major threat, I personally think OSU has just as good a shot as TENN does, being that Bell has talked about how good a relationship he has with Meyer and Withers--Withers still has an in-home with Bell (along with UT's Butch Jones).

Scroll down to the post where I linked the article in the local paper...I said 2 months ago no one should count Tennessee out of this one.
Based on the non-VIP posts, it doesn't seem there will be room for Bell at Bama.
thanks for the post. Def looks like bama isn't expecting his signature.
Thats good news. Been posting with the people on the Vols board. They are some nice people. Just glad its not Bama! Hope Johnson doesn't flip to them though
The biggest question mark in my mind is Butch Jones. In the grand scheme of things....he's done very little thus far.
He can coach....I know that. But his is a huge huge challenge for him. It's not the MAC or the Big East he's in anymore....
As a recruit, who's going to appeal to you more?
Nick Saban, Urban Meyer or Butch Jones?
If the Tide is out because nothing is really available at this point.....who's now more appealing?
Urban Meyer with 2 rings or Butch Jones with zero?
The irresistible draw of the hometown team, Bear--don't underestimate it. You only have to look as far back as James Quick.
I think that has SOME effect, but probably not as much as we'd like. What we have to remember is that by all accounts, Tennessee is to Vonn Bell what Ohio State is to most of us. Ask yourself: if you were offered a scholarship to 3 schools, two of them had better coaching staffs than OSU, would you opt to go to them over OSU? I would likely still choose OSU because of my love for the school. I would suffer through being on what could be a bit less successful team in order to go to tOSU. There's a possibility Vonn could do that with TENN.
James Quick made that decision with Louisville, Dorian Johnson made that decision with PITT. I think we have a good shot, but it wouldn't blow me away if Bell chose to play for what is arguably a lesser coach in order to be at his favorite school growing up.
That's true...I get that. But he's from Georgia not Tennessee.....but I'd guess that's a hell of a lot closer than C-bus.
It is a big time program that just happens to be down....so I get that.
I agree they have welcomed me with open arms over there. However they're also saying Johnson may want to stay closer to home and might visit Auburn . ugh..Looks like urbs should just try to keep our own players right now !! lol
i will go into meltdown mode IF we dont get bell clark or wilson AND lose EZE or Trey. that's a big IF and AND but its possible. ha
Rossville, Georgia is a suburb of Chattanooga and literally sits on the state line. He played for a Chattanooga HS his freshman year.
We could try to steal Green... Have an open #27 for him
That would be epic. ha
Rumor he is is going to visit Auburn this weekend. (mean weekend coming up)

Anyone realize how bad this could end ? We miss out on, Bell Wilson Clark and then have Johnson EZE and Munger go elsewhere. Am i already freaking out ? lol
As far as Eze and Trey....if they were going to flip wouldn't they de-commit first? Seems to me that's what they'd do. All they've done is go on visits but have stayed committed to us.
I would think that if they might end up signing with another school out of respect they'd at least pull their verbal before signing day.
Because Saban coaches in the SEC. There are no rules down there, and the NCAA allows this. No other explanation for why the NCAA doesn't regulate oversigning, and instead allows the SEC their competitive advantage.
Here is what a Bama fan said on the Vols board about Bell and why they are not going after him anymore.
"We currently value Eddie Jackson as a higher DB than Bell. Basically we told Bell that we didnt have room. I know people will laugh and say thats crazy but it sounds like thats exactly what happened."
Okay, well I guess that settles it?
Thanks for posting. Let's hope this is real and Bell is further convinced that he belongs in C-Bus where he's wanted and needed for the championship run!
