I hope someone can show me I'm wrong, but I think this is really going to suck on Monday. If this keeps snow balling as it seems to have the potential to, then it's going to point towards additional violations at tOSU and maybe a violation of probation. We'll see how much espn likes Meyer now. And for crying out loud Gene better be working all weekend on this to get it ready for Monday. So help me if that dude's golfing tomorrow someone should fire his butt.
Edited: Removed: "This smells like more kids receiving improper benefits at bw3." Shouldn't have included it. Made it sound like I suspected improper benefits when I'm concerned about others suspecting it and investigating and giving us more bad pub. Sorry.

Two words: damage control.
It starts with Urban and his staff calling every recruit and their parents this weekend and assuring them this was random, just a bad guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then you create new standards for monitoring kids' exposure to boosters. As if failing to monitor D'Geronimo wasn't enough, now we have adult perverts hanging out with HS recruits? WTF? How did this happen unless it was purely happenstance, i.e., these kids were hanging out somewhere and Waugh just happened to show up. But even then, it gets to coaching their Buckeye hosts on how to make sure these kids aren't put in jeopardizing positions. Every school in the country just got another wake-up call at our expense.
No one likes bad news but people will respect you more if you tackle it head on than try to evade it. Tressel, Penn State, Tylenol, plenty of bad publicity case studies where cover up or silence proved to be the wrong choice.
The world is watching.
no violations are coming from this relax and enjoy your weekend!!He is not affilated with the program at all so jus chill.
That was guys twitter handle. he was not affiliated with ohio state or bw3. some people need to read articles before they start spouting off

Well stated, but as we've seen in the recent past, Gene and his staff don't have a clue on how to handle bad press.

I agree! This may be Meyer's greatest challenge of all!
true, but what will hurt now is the negative recruiting. Wont be hard to convince a kid and parents why would you send your kid to a school where pedophiles get close to the players. We may not like it, but you know for sure that is what will be said.
Sure, just go to PeeSU were they allowed a revered former assistant coach to continue to f&ck young boys in their facilities for years, all the while turning a blind eye!
Odan, I would bet there is a pethahopile within 5 miles of any major college in America. I bet there is one right down the street from your house and you don't enen know it. Look it up. You act like your so smart!!
I agree with that on PSU.....that is the last place I would want my kid to go to.
Now this story is on The Big Lead.....it just keeps get bigger.
I agree. Regardless of the reality, perception is a big key!
That is a fact. Hopefully, this is nothing more than an unfortunate incident, with a very concerned father (rightfully so) who really didn't want to see his son go to OSU. As Iowa referred to..."Damage Control!" Gee, Smith, and Meyer need to address this issue IMMEDIATELY!
Pedophile Waugh, we have a gift for you.
Get in the circle with Johnny Simon and Ryan Shazier.
Sorry guys this is so disgusting. My head is spinning and my gut hurts. I know this is something that is stupid, but should be taken seriously. The bottom line, we are Ohio State not a SEC school. I hope Meyer can get the straightened out , like NOW
If my17 year old son were considering playing for a school and this kind of news was floating about, I might still consider that school but I would accompany him to see for myself but I sure would be very circumspect (whatever that means). I would want to have assurance that my son would be in as safe of an environment as a University of that size can provide away predators and the seedy element and especially at player gatherings. I would want to feel this was just an isolated incident and not a system wide problem. Yes, I think this will affect recruiting. But, yes, it is something we can recover from. It starts with accountability.
I can see it now. Shazier... "get waughs a$$ out here". Meyer... "waugh"
I think you might be right re bw3. Someone posted that he was working at a bw3 in columbus area, but didn't have evidence to support that. We'll have to wait and see I guess. My concern is this getting uglier and it turns out we failed to monitor somehow with recruits...Anzalone's dad says things aren't right at tOSU, the kid says there's a reason behind it...Those aren't good things to hear, and I bet you anything that both of them get calls from ncaa. All I'm saying is it seems there's more going on, and from what these jackwagons are saying, the more isn't good. So, good 'ol Gene better stay on top of this...no more press conferences from hell.
Except it's out there. My degree from OSU was in journalism/public relations. Trust me: It needs to be publicly addressed in some form or fashion, especially since Doug Archie's email has been made public. Leaving questions unanswered only leads to speculation and speculation leads to trouble.
Attack it head on and hopefully it goes away quickly. Let it linger and it will take on a life of its own and like mold, grow until it's past the point of control.
As that famous man of action, Barney Fife, used to say, "Nip it! Nip it in the bud! Nip it!"

I'm not saying this is nothing iowa. All I was trying to state was people need to actually read articles and do a little research before saying something like extra benefits from bw3 or something of the sort. No disrespect to op and realized i probably sounded like a dick originally. This is a serious situation and a pr nightmare but we need to hold off on extra benefits and violating probation rumors before we all give ourselves ulcers
Didn't think you sounded like a dick. You were correct and pointed out a mistake I made. Thanks. I edited original post to remove the bw3 thing.
This is exactly why, at the school system in connected to, we banned all use of twitter and Facebook. Nothing good ever comes from it. Its out of hand.
Posting this on anzalone threads since i dont want to start new and not sure which one it most belongs to
Now his father says he still may committ to buckeyes because you cant hold people responsible for others actions. Things dont seem to add up
how can any violations come from this? i have never seen such a non-issue blow up for absolutely no reason
over-reaction on all accounts. i love how cause anzalone decommits due to his parents freaking out over a picture he took with someone turns into our whole class is going to decommit and we have violations. so fucking absurd. people on this board are LITERALLY retarded.

you are retarded. i legit mean that
Good post +1. I like the following comment from Sal . This sure doesn't sound like anything he had said before. Come on Urban and Vrabel set the record straight
"His father said he might even still consider the Buckeyes."It's a possibility," Sal Anzalone said. "Things change. You can't hold them respo
nsible for other people's behavior"
100% agree belucky. People need to relax. This kid isn't even on the team, how about we cherish the kids that are putting their sweat and blood on the field for OSU.
