I dont like the hire, I could be wrong in the end but I consider this a let down after months of hearing the Cleveland media verbally felating Haslem and Banner.
I wanted Lovie Smith or Bruce Ariens, anyone with a brain knew Gruden and Saban werent interested.
a guys who the browns essentially FIRED twice is now their head coach. only the browns.. ugh
Exactly...I cannot blame a guy that spent $1 billion on a team for bringing in his guys, but this seems to be a lateral move.
Some "source" says that Norv Turner may be the OC and Jauron is out at DC because we are switching to the 3-4. No clue why you would switch to the 3-4 when we have a weak LB corps and a good 4-3 DL....more of the same.
Agreed. If Jauron is out, this goes from (in my opinion) a bad hire, to a horrendous hire.
And if they go back to a 3-4 defense with the personnel they have, that would be absolutely idiotic.
Then again, it is the Browns.
The hardest team to love in the NFL. Particularly when, like me. You live a long way away from Ohio.....
Typical Browns make the same predictable move and hire another $hit coach/coordinator, who will be gone in two years time . You should have a poll on when the $hit coach leaves. You know their record will be 5-11 over the two years. The Browns never get a bona fide proven coach. They could have hired Lovie Smith, John Gruden or Saban. Haslam is as dumb as the Lerners but he is Dollar General cheap unlike the Lerners.
Keith Britton reports his sources have informed him that the Browns will likely hire former Chargers head coach Norv Turner as well.
Chudzinski interviewed with the Browns earlier in the week and must have made quite an impression on new owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner. Chudzinski actually spent time with the Browns back in 2007 as their offensive coordinator.
We’re still waiting to confirm whether or not Turner will be the team’s offensive coordinator, but it seems likely that he would be hired to run their offense. Norv’s son, Scott Turner, is likely to join the staff as well.
I don't get it either--esp considering he was a part of the old, bad regimes. Familiarity shouldn't be the determining criteria in this case.
And the fact that it was the new ownership team who made this hire it especially doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Haslem strikes me as the type who'd cajole and woo a candidate by offering lofty benefits and salary but he obviously didn't have to do this in order to make this hire.
Whisenhunt would've been a better hire than this.
What the Browns should have gone after is a defensive-minded head coach. Offense hasn't been their biggest flaw, it's been on defense by and large.
I kind of like this hire, I don't think it's that bad.
It makes me nervous because here we go again with a rookie head coach, our last one didn't turn out so hot. The thing I like about this hire is Chudzinski grew up a Browns fan so he "gets it"
As far as the 3-4 goes, it doesn't surprise me at all. Haslam is following what the Steelers have/are doing. The most critical hire for Haslam is going to be the GM/player personnel guy, especially if he does switch to the 3-4. This is the spot that worries me the most and the spot that will have the most impact for us moving forward.
One other thing I'm excited about is to see what Haslam is going to do about our QB situation.
Brady Hoke licked the pizza boy's taint to get the scUM job.
Well if they are hiring Norv Turner you better have 6 QB's on the roster he has ruined everyone he ever coached except Aikman, This guy is a cancer and has declined since his days at the Cowboys.
Unfortunately it would seem the Browns are not a very desirable coaching job, even though I didn't think it would work hiring Kelly would at least of shown the organization trying. This move seems like the fat girl at 2 AM just cause there's no one else.
Try being a Jets fan...
getting rid of jauron excites me. he isnt a good coach. i dont get why everyone is in love with him. every decent qb torched us the last two seasons and for some reason people love him
Meh, idk lucky....D played pretty well at times, but I'm not a browns fan either.
Bring Ryan back, huh....
As a bears fan, I can't believe someone on here wanted Lovie. Take him, please! Save the bears some cash.
"Any board that would ban 3yds is worthless"
id honestly hire norv turner as oc and romeo as d coordinator. both are failed head coaches with great coordinator track records that are essentially unhirable as head coaches. might as well surround yourself with the best coordinators there are.
D played pretty well at times, you are correct. against oakland, kansas city, sand diego in a hurricane, and pitt v. charlie batch
I do not know what to think... It seems like this hire should have been made either last year or back when Romeo was fired. The Browns were the only team to interview him, so he wasn't a hot commodity, but that is okay as long as he isn't another Shurmur. I like the idea of Turner coming for offense, but I would like to see him bring in Mel Tucker for the D coordinator position. Jacksonville just blew up their staff so he is available.
Since i don't like the Browns or Cleveland fans I hope they do hire Norv! Other than with the Cowboys where Jimmy Johnson was running the show what is Norv's record as a Coordinator?
He was only at Dallas 3 years with tons of left over talent. His record is .433 winning percentage, He has ran the offense everywhere he has been.
Browns please Hire Norv! LOL
not to hijack, but looks like the Bears will hire Marc Trestman. not that they need my approval, but i like it.
personally, i don't like the idea of a recycled HC. most times it doesn't pan out. if you didn't succeed wherever you were, you most likely will fail again.
Trestman is a QB/offensive guy who oddly enough, worked with both Cutler and Weeden
ill never understand why people hate cleveland fans. what exactly is there to hate. our teams suck. not like we shove it in people's face about how awesome we are or something. id say about 85% of cleveland sports fans realize we suck pretty much at everything. just cause our sports teams suck doesnt mean we suck though
Are you seriously comparing the fates of the Jets to those of the Browns? It is not even close. Since the Browns came back into the league (something that was worse than anything that has ever happened to the Jets), the Browns have made the playoffs once (in 2002). During that same time frame the Jets gave made the playoffs in: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
In terms of the "misery index", there is simply no comparison between the Browns and the Jets......
not even a quarter as bad as being a browns fan buddy
I see your points, but Rex Ryan and Woody Johnson are absolutely two complete and total idiots that will guide this franchise nowhere but down.
AWESOME!!! Now there are 2 CHUDs in Cleveland! I hate this town.

No doubt! If you go to downtown Cleveland and see someone hanging from a tree after week 2 next year.............ITS ME!
