Reading the BH thread today it sounds like Hyde is considering going pro. If he does, I wish him the absolute best. He had a monster year here and I loved watching every second of it. I love when our guys can go to the NFL early. It means we are recruiting and coaching well which just encourages more recruits to come here.
I'd hate to lose him. He could be truly dominate next year.
But I can't say I'd blame him if he left. He had a good year and probably would get drafted.
"man we got some fuckin weirdos on this site." - Davebucknut 9/5/13 post of the year
good for him if he goes. i would love to have him back, but also excited to see ball and dunn get after it too.
Would love to see him come back for his senior year....he would continue to be a monster most likely and would most likely have a for sure 1,000 yard season as he damn near did it this year.....
If he feels he's ready than he's ready. Best of luck to him. There's risk vs. reward with either decision he makes.
I'm with you guys and I hate to lose him but like Razor said.....it only adds another Buckeye to the League which recruits take note of!
With Smith, Dunn and Ball in the wings....we should hopefully re-load.
0% chance unless he wants to be a 7th round draft pick of undrafted free agent. montee ball was given a 3rd round grade after his magical 2011 season. just being realistic, hyde would be graded at about a 6th or 7th round pick
Compared to what most of us make and the amount of work we put into it.....hours, days weeks that kind of thing..
6th or 7th round in the NFL is still a lot of coin.....and I get what you're saying.....no doubt, but there's no guarantee he would make it through his senior year unscathed either.....
I don't think he'd draft that high either G2B.....but I can also understand him at least taking a look and possibly grabbing what he can while he can....
I think he'd be quite the steal for some NFL team.
If he would be a 4th rounder or better then he should go. I felt he got SCREWED last season when Boom came back. Now Hall is supposedly coming back. And when Hall came back this year did Hyde get any carries that game???? And Hall looked slow that game, which made it puzzling Hyde got a few if any carries that game.
I don't think it has helped these athletes to see how Matt Barkley's stock dropped this year after he came back!
oh i agree, he'd make plenty of money for 2-3 years and then be out of the nfl. i still say there's a 0% chance he leaves and wouldnt put anything towards this at all. if he left though, thanks for the one good season man and possibly passing up on a chance at being the best rb in the country next year.
times are a little different since hall came back, and it didnt exactly help that hyde got injured in hall's return. i dont think the situations are the least bit comparable anymore. carlos is the clear #1 next season.

If Hyde does come back for his senior year....I don't think Hall is going to get that many carries....and he should be utilized in a different way anyway. Hall is not an every down kind of back. Hyde is a much tougher runner than Hall and Hyde will get the tough yards.
If Hall starts over Hyde or even Smith for that matter....Hall better be tearing it up! Boom was a much better RB than Hall in my opinion.....and Boom should have never started ahead of Hyde when he was able to play last year.
Boom starting over Hyde last year was not right. I know he served his suspension and I'm not saying he shouldn't have gotten any carries.....but IMO he lost that job to Hyde.
im sorry i disagree. boom herron, LAST YEAR, was hands down the best running back on this team without a doubt. you want to say hyde wasnt used correctly, that's fine i agree, but he was not better than boom herron coming off of a 1200 yards rushing and 17tds the season before. that's like saying rod smith is better than hyde. he's not.
and my last post on this, is if this is coming from bucknuts writers then he's not going anywhere. they tend to be wrong. like all the time.
yeah you just never know what's going to happen. It definitely worked out in Tebow's favor in 09'
Sam Bradford didn't fair to badly even with his injury his senior year and look at what Luck has done this year.....and who can forget Willis McGahee.....ouch! But that is more of a testament to say his work ethic than anything and he's done quite well in the NFL.
So you just never know.....it can be a weird roll of the dice.....
I haven't found a mock draft yet that has Hyde listed anywhere. That being said. His size speed and burst will make him an attractive pick in the mid rounds. Especially for some of these teams using two back systems.
Look at G2B throwing cold water on Hyde's NFL dreams!!
I tend to agree with this as well. I hate seeing guys that have ONE GOOD YEAR and think they are ready for the NFL. Anyone remember Antonio Pittman?
Hyde if wise and counseled correctly should come back to tOSU, get that +1000 yrd rushing year, generate a shit load of TDs and then think about the NFL.
Things will be much better for him after a memorable season and he's wearing a national title ring!
Nothing worse than taking a cake out of the oven too soon and leaving for the NFL "half baked"!
Get the championship and show that you are a durable back by dominating multiple years at the CFB level.

No....Hall should be utilized differently not Hyde.
Boom was the best RB on this team in 2010...but last year he was out the 1st 6 games.
Boom in 7 games last year carried the ball 135 times for 678 yards with 3 TD's and a 5.0 yard per carry average.
Hyde had 106 carries (29 fewer than Boom) for 566 with 6 TD's and a 5.3 carry average.
Boom's longest was 57 and Hyde's longest was 63.
To claim Boom was that much better than Hyde last year well I just don't see it so we'll have to disagree.
But I'm not saying Hyde wasn't used correctly....he's for sure an every down RB.
No one said Boom wasnt the best back, He shouldnt have started his first game back. He serves a 6 game suspension for breaking rules after he was busted for breaking rules. Hyde came off his best performance and the next game Boom starts and Hyde doesnt see the field. That was total fucking bullshit and another reason Fickell had NO CHANCE of returning as head coach. To this day that stil pisses me off, even more now that we are 12-0 and the season is over.
Boom was the best back on the team las year.
Carlos developed this year, and it as great to see him start to put together the size and speed with patience and vision.
This kid is only beginning to scratch the surface of his running abilities. But if he comes back, there's a good shot he'll be sharing carries with Hall and company.
He should get drafted, he's a very good prospect. As a steelers fan, I'd like to see him in the burgh.
The kid can hold on the rock, you could use him there. BROWNIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carlos Hyde is the real deal. I need him back here to keep that ground game in full force.

Hyde and Richardson. Brownies would find a way to fuck that up.
He who lives in the past (Brown, Kelly, Mack....).
Does a side of pulling guard go with that main course?
I'd hate to lose him but if he does go, I wish him the best and he has been my favorite RB we've had since Clarret (pre-dumbass).
I think he would be a mid rd draft pick this year though, and next year if he continues to develop he could really boost his draft stock.
Hyde probably won't have a better year next year because he'll probably share more carries as we get deeper at RB. That said, he won't be a high draft pick. But he won't after next year either. So it's kind of up to him and what school/CFB means to him.
he don't tell duane's barber he is wrong. BH has alot of believers in that premium insider info.
Too logical, too obvious, too simple, therefore unacceptable to this board...
I think if he's 4th round or higher it may be worth going for him. I believe I read on another blog somewhere this past week that Hyde is like Beanie as far as having a family that doesn't have a lot of financial security and he may want to try to help them.
I would be thrilled to have him!
If thats the case, get PAID young man!
