Just curious on everyone's opinion as I want to know if I am out of line for being offended by DZ's 2nd post over there.
I for one think our defense & special teams might have an issue with DZ's 2nd post in that thread -- "but at least know that no Buckeye fan feels like we should have won this game"
Sorry DZ, but I find that pretty offensive. Going over there to one of our biggest rivals' boards and making a statement inferring that you speak for all of Buckeye fans and saying that all of us don't think we deserved to win? What the fuck dude? Especially when our ST & defense played their hearts out. I can see making the case that the offense didn't deserve the win since they played like total and complete shit, but the other two thirds of the squad outplayed Wisconsin at their place and at the end of the game as a team, they did enough to win and deserved to win, IMO. Especially since the offense has bailed out the defense a number of times this year in other games (Indiana, and Nebraska as a couple stand-out examples). I know we all may say stupid, emotionally driven things during the heat of the moment during games, but at least try to be rational after the game is over.
I didn't see the 2nd half. Actually the first half was just one play over and over again, maybe I didn't miss much?
And no, I'm not offended but I'd not go over to a Wisky board and say something like that.

What? "Deserve to win"?
What is that? Dude this is football and deserve has nothing to do with the game, so I don't get why this clown would make
the statement to begin with. Clearly he doesn't understand the game, so his comments are idiotic and pandering to sorry ass Wisky fans at best.
Football is a meritocracy, where winners TAKE what they want. And from what I saw in the game and in OT, the Buckeyes went out and took what they wanted so they got the win! They punched Wisky in the mouth on THEIR field and flat out got it done.
That's how it is and that's certainly how I see it!

as bad as we played, I really never felt in danger of losing. the drive when ball fumbled was simply to tie, not to win. We were up the whole game. didn't deserve to win??? i usually never down vote buckeye fans, but I will hand out a couple to DZ today. Not so much for what he thinks, but to lump ME into his asinine comment.
Nah, you didn't miss a whole lot -- the 2nd half was for the most part more bad playcalling. Urban was not pleased with the playcalling and said as much after the game. I'm sure he and Herman will be having a chat about adjustments. Miller made some really bad decisions not to throw the ball away a few times and I know he was just trying to make something happen -- there's not much you can do when they keep calling the zone read when the defense is ready for it and literally have several guys assigned to do nothing but stop Braxton from running (Hyde and Meyer said that after the game as well). Meyer said they need to get Hyde the ball more and pound it which I agree with. At least we get positive yardage with that. Meyer also said the line just wasn't blocking as well as they usually do. Receivers did not appear to be getting open in the 2nd half either which made us one-dimensional. Painful to watch. I'm glad Meyer agreed with that as well, lol.
We need to call this clown out and quote his post to let him know where Buckeye fans stand on the issue.
DZ is a moron and he needs a bit of football education. Its clear from his comments that he likely never played nor coached football or he wouldn't be making statements about "deserving wins" and the like.
That's the most idiotic reference to a game that I have ever heard. This sounds like something my wife would say, nevertheless, I still lover her and accept that she doesn't know a damn thing about competition or football!
What a ridiculous comment.

All season a lot of people said evntually the D will need to win us a game. Well they did. Who cares if Ball had almost 200 yards. The D stepped up on 4th and goal caused a fumble. Thank god ball didnt break the record against osu! Unfortunately, they couldnt stop whisky the last drive. But dear god, they were on the field the entire game! Every possession seemd like a 3 and out. They had to be gassed. Special teams has been an issue all year too and it contributed in the win as well. Great teams find ways to win. It was ugly but who cares? Just win baby!!
For the life of me I couldn't figure out why we didn't get the Hyde freight train rolling. I was astounded at the play calling.
Can't Meyer make a call up to Herman during the game or at halftime and tell him to pull his head out of his ass? I'm no football genius by a long shot, but gee whiz.
Yep I'm with ya. I was kinda afraid Hyde was going to get himself in trouble initially during post-game interviews because he just kept going on and on about how he didn't understand the play calling and felt like he could've helped the team if they'd just given him the ball, but then I saw Meyer's post-game presser and he said all the same stuff, so Hyde will be fine. Herman just had a bad day in the box. I think Urb has come to trust Herman's play-calling since he's done a pretty good job this year overall, and I think going forward he's probably going to tell Herman that when such and such isn't working, go to this and give it a try.
Spread offenses rely on temp and rythm. I have always believed the way to slow a spread o down is by a ball control offense. Take all the time off the play clock every single snap. Oregon lost and had the ball for 23 minutes compared to 37 for stanford. Same could be said for osu 23-37. I did not watch the oregon game nut it clearly affected ohio state.
I think Wisconsin just did a good job planning to stop Braxton (had multiple guys assigned to spying him) and their secondary locked up our receivers for most of the night forcing us into some predictability as far as trying to run the ball. On top of that our oline had a tough night as Urban said after the game making it tough to run much of anything, but sure, you never want TOP to be so flipped if you can avoid it. We controlled Oregon in the 2009 Rose Bowl with our D-Line. Our D-Line gave them no time to run anything up the middle and in many cases we would be in their backfield by the time they would try to run to the edge and that helped a lot. But sure, up tempo offenses have to get in rhythm to execute at 100% and we had trouble doing that last night for a number of reasons.
To answer the OP, we won fair and square. Of course, we deserved it.
As far as Herman, I think overall he is ok but that he has a lot to learn. I haven't been overly impressed but am willing to give him another year. And yeah, yesterday was his worst day.
He has to make more in-game adjustments and be more creative. He gets into ruts in the same way that Tressel got into offensive playcalling ruts and didn't seem to have much imagination. (except in the first half of the Sugar Bowl against Arky -- Tress called a beautiful half game there)
It's Fickell that I really question whether Meyer can afford to keep as DC.
"Buckeye born and bred, a Buckeye 'til I'm dead"
Well said BuckNasty,
Nobody ever deserves to win. Winning teams find a way to win and losing teams find a way to lose. I don't want to be a fan of a "deserving" team. I want to be a fan of a team that wants to win and figures out a way to get it done. That's exactly what the Buckeyes have been doing all year, and I for one am very satisfied with the results.
Now it's time to focus on that team up North. This is the game we've been waiting all year for.
never mind that bad call by B1G officiating on the Wisconsin fumble in the 2nd/3rd quarter
MEMO TO FICKELL: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!
+1 I had forgotten about that. It was obviously a fumble and went Wisconsin's way on the ruling.
I hate Wisconsin and Fatass! No they didn't deserve to win. their fans are all puke faces and rude.
Wanna be football power. 2nd rate fan base and University.
SORRY you make mistakes and you lose!
Did anyone notice if JT was in the booth? Every time BM got stuffed at or behind the LOS I was thinking, that hasn't worked the whole game so why are they still running the "designed QB run" as the commentator called it all day. JT would have been proud to have called that game.
Whisky's D coordinator had Hermans number and Herman didn't ever figure out how to get loose.
Well I just went over there and left my two cents.
Been there too.
Wisky fans got their collective nipples poked out despite the loss!
This is what makes winning over those pricks so fun! Could you imagine had the Buckeyes lost how many of those bastards would be running their mouths?
I am glad for two things:
1) Kicking Bielema in the ass on his turf
2) Not giving the total TD lead up to Ball. Making those bastards wait until next week......CLASSIC!!

i agree. maybe it's how this team has played all year...3 & out after 3 & out and still somehow winning. i think our defense played as well as we could have expected. special teams was great. offense delivered when it needed to. christian bryant was in the right place at the right time not just for once but twice on the fumble recovery and on last play of the game. usually he's too early or too late.
i, too, am offended a buckeye fan would say we didn't deserve to win this game. maybe wisconsin didn't deserve to lose but they somehow did. that's their fault and their regret, not ours so why would anyone apologize for it?
i couldn't be more proud of this team and what it's accomplished.
Montee Ball was denied the career touchdown record with a the goal line stand by the Silver Bullets.
I can't see, read, or hear that enough.
Patrick : "What do you think about the Ohio State hire?" Hoke: "Not...not good"
Ask our defense who played their guts out if they DESERVED to win the game. What a ridiculous comment. It's not about who DESERVES to win the game, it's about who actually WINS the game........and we won!!!
As bad as the O played yesterday we still beat Bienima's vaunted Badgers at their own place. That speaks volumes for them. If anyone didn't deserve to win it was Wisconsin, and they didn't! The D was tremendous (except for one or so individuals in the D backfield) but they have been struggling all year. For fear of missing others I will not mention that Simon and Shazier were stalwarts on D and Shazier made two of the best hits we had all year. I am proud of the entire team for not caving when things did not look good. Go Buckeyes, Muck Fichigan Saturday and every day!
That is also the best defense our offensive line has seen all year.
I'm ready for the down votes and I don't care.....
But this zone/read spread offense has got to go!!
It's obviously too 1 dimensional in the 1st place which is why I've always been against it.
This offense to be balanced, diverse and effective needs to have some plays where Miller takes snaps from under center. That would open up a whole other dimension to this offense.
Yesterday is just a glimpse of what's to come when we play teams that understand defense is the key to victory. The only thing is....that was Wisconsin. Imagine what happens when we play a team with double the depth and talent that Wisconsin has on the defensive side of the ball.
We will be shut out. Wisconsin is by far and away the best defense we've seen all year and they played like it even without their best LB on the field.
Whether we're deserving or undeserving.....
We're very fortunate to get out of there with a win.
To compete against truly elite defenses...we need our offense to be able to control the ball and the field in the 2nd half.....and not be 0-4 on possessions in the 2nd half. 4 possessions and 4 three and outs is not going to get it done and if you don't see how fortunate we were to win then you don't understand this game.
The offense must generate and keep the momentum by letting our defense rest as much as is possible.
That certainly didn't happen yesterday.
What happened to Oregon yesterday is the same thing that will happen to us eventually.....
