Absolutely. And you can't underestimate the fact that iirc both of his parents attended Missouri. I think he ends up staying with OSU, but in my opinion that was a draw for James Quick (his dad went to UL), and that could be a draw in this situation if Zeke somehow gets to a point where he feels 50/50 about Mizzou/OSU.
"Dontre & Elliott IMO will play the same position here which is APB. They will both be in the slot. They will both be in the backfield. They will both motion into and out of, the backfield."
I dunno -- everything I've heard the last year makes it sound like Zeke will be more of a pure RB (ala the Hyde or Rod Smith RB role) who gets the occasional reception, and Tre Wilson would be used in the Slot WR position you're discussing. The difference would be that in a couple years, Zeke would average 20+ carries per game, Wilson would average somewhere around the same number of catches per game as carries (10 & 10 at most).

The one thing I'd love is a Buckeye backfield with interchangeable parts ala Oregon's Barner and the Black Mamba. But if they're alternating reps at RB and the slot, where does that put Marshall?
^^exactly what razorback said. he may have a very level head on his shoulders and could be great with dontre on the field at the same time. but in the end this is about money. if he is THE main back with all the hype and all the glory at whatever school, see manziel, rg3, etc., the heisman and a high draft pick in the league will be a possibility and that means a fortune to him and his family. this must be a very difficult choice for the family, fight a lot of great talent at osu to get on the field at a premier school or go to missouri and have a much easier path. plus he is from missouri and his parents went there. idk where this ends up but as a buckeye fan i hope urban gets what he wants which should spell a lot of success for osu and great times for us as fans.

I've been reading all the threads about Mizzou football and being from Saint Louis, the shit has had me laughing my ass off!
Any kid from the STL region with an opportunity to play for the Buckeyes shouldn't even bat an eye at the thought of Missouri. I have known many kids that have gone to Mizzou, particularly from my HS where I played ball, and just about every one of them didn't make the league, didn't play in big time bowls and didn't even make the league. Hell the program hasn't been relevant since the Phil Bradley days of the 1980s and the Big 8 Conference!!
Born and raised in Saint Louis and I have to say that the University of Missouri is a joke! Not a big time football program at all. This scenario would be like a kid considering Akron over the THE Ohio State University!!
Guys I wouldn't even worry about this. If Elliott flips to Mizzou he WILL be a flop and will never be heard of again. This decision is up to him. He's playing with fire with the entire Mizzou thing. Hope he's not waiting for Coach Urbs to call his bluff??
Either way, Mizzou is a third tier program at best for football.

i'm just confused as to why this kid committed so early?? I mean, his parents didn't just graduate from mizzou last month...and he didn't just move to st louis. so this late infatuation with a school he has all these ties to is just confusing.
confused here too.
I really think he likes OSU #1. He just wants to be the primary back. You can take that as good or bad, but he was promised as such.
How would you know, dumb ass? Or, maybe Meyer was honest whet he told the Elliots Wilson was being recruited strictly as a receiver.
You guys are killing me.....you botch about not getting a receiver and then try to downplay what the head man told a recruit. I bet the coaches who get on here laugh their asses off sometimes.
Neither of them have done much of anything in the NFL either and it's because of their size....I wasn't much of a Demps or Rainey fan when they were at Florida. Our RB's at the OSU from a pure RB production standpoint did way more than either of those two.
I don't really want Wilson. He's just too small and for his small size their are bigger guys that are faster.....and in this case that's Elliot.
Losing Elliot would be a huge loss. He's a potential T.J. Yeldon in the making.....he even runs like him.
Elliot has the potential to compete for the #2 RB spot right now....and even then Hyde better be ready to compete.
There won't be any RB in Urbans offense that gets every carry. The hurry up style lends itself to keeping fresh legs on the field. Hyde, with injuries we had this year didn't even get ALL the carries. Yet still pulled off a great season. Any RB that would decide not to come to OSU because he doesn't want to share reps hasn't paid attention to what his position entails under Urban. Look at Florida, Urban always had 2 backs running in and out, fresh legs....
So if it comes down to "Being the man", then go to Missouri, finish back in the pack and watch the Buckeyes playing in January.
If he goes there because it's in his heart to follow his parents footsteps then nothing we can do about it, wish him well...
No way Wilson will ever be a RB here. No way at all.
He's way too small.
Besides that.....I don't want Wilson at all to be truthful.
The WR that we need is James Clark.
Coaches coming on here! That's the best laugh I've had all week! And it was a very good week!
well, i wasn't in the room when any promises were made. if you were, thanks for sharing.
with hyde, hall, dunn and ball I really don't think meyer would promise anyone they would be the primary back. hell, we passed on the #1 back in the nation so I don't think any such promise was made to eze.
all this being said, he is still committed here. he didn't decommit and open up his recruitment. I think that is very telling.
anyhow, no matter what happens, whoever else comes here in the next 10 days is just icing on the cake for me. we went undefeated last year and have a top 5 class. I could care less if he comes or someone else takes his spot.
Ummm...and kids leave when they arrive after finding out they were lied to.
Yes...... And coaches never, ever, ever tweet or call out players in tweets or anything like that..... They never get on Twitter and blast their last school...I know it happens.....
Boom Boom....the fact that we passed on Green makes a stronger case that he was told he was the only back offered...
Here is a coincidence for you guys,.....we pushed for Timmons and Wilson after not getting Gibson and Quick. If we landed either we ate done with even these guy, maybe a spot open for Clark.
who is the other back we are offering? wilson is a slot guy. also, elliott won't line up in the backfield on every play whether he was the only back taken this year AND next year.
If Zeke stays a buckeye I would love to have him and if not I will wish him the best!
And at the end of the day, 11th hour emotion of caring and possible parental pressure may very well win out. Here is the way I look at it: The kid is a certifiable stud, and a great get, but we do have depth here. I am not well versed enough about Mizzou to know their situation, but to my thinking, it would not be the worst thing in the world to bank a scholly for an O lineman or LB in 2014.

Anybody see this from the Eleven Warriors staff??
"Elsewhere, Ohio State commit Ezekiel Elliott took an official visit to Missouri this weekend. During the Tigers' basketball game against Vanderbilt, he was serenaded with chants of "M-I-Z, E-Z-E". For what it's worth, it sounds a lot like a courtesy visit. Buckeye fans should not worry."
I agree with this.
This Sundays Skull Session touches on recruiting at Ohio State and elsewhere in the B1G TEN.
People have this misconception that Eze is a small back...he's much bigger than Wilson...under Coach Mick...Eze gonna get swole...Wilson never will...that's why they will play different roles in this offense.
Rainey was released by the Steelers due to a gf altercation.
MEMO TO FICKELL: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Elliot's father is a Missouri alumni so of course his comments are going to be colored by that.
Its important to note the source of the quote is not Zeke but his father.
