Wolfong is saying that both Texas & Texas Tech offered him either last night or this morning. It's all premium so I can't read it. But has me thinking, he was told we were only taking 1 RB this class. Now with Meyer & company making a strong push for Wilson, is Elliot having doubts.
I don't think Wilson will any more of a RB than Jalin Marshall.
Either way I'm not going to worry about it.
I am one who loved Jim Tressel....even with his flaws and mistakes.....if he was still here.....then yes, I might be a little concerned. I admired JT's convictions when it came to recruiting and the morals and ethics he outlined for it....even while everyone else was not abiding buy those same codes.
Doesn't make it any more right than it does wrong.....but as long as it's allowed....I don't mind Urban's recruiting style at all.
Where JT failed in this department it was due to not having a plan b,c or d for that matter......kids change their mind all the time. JT too often put all his eggs in a single basket. He was good at what he did and in this day and age I'm surprised he didn't miss out on more recruits than he did.
Where Meyer succeeds is that he seems to have a plan b,c,d and e! He is going to at the very least have a blanket coverage for positions of need. Even if he lands everybody offered...that's still a good thing and I'm positive he'll make the adjustments to make it work within the scholarship limits.

funny how being offered by schools suddenly means he's looking around or something. i will be shocked if elliot isnt part of this class and wont let crappy texas and texas tech make me nervous cause they offered. texas also just offered dontre wilson because they realized how much they lack playmakers. waiting for the final 2 weeks to offer people in your own state isnt exactly the best move
Texas Tech doesn't concern me. Kingsbury needs a recruiting class. Texas, the way they've underperformed the past few years? Not so sure there's a lot of luster. Their class is surprisingly small by Texas's standards. I think they're both playing catch-up.
In a business, there are generally 3 ways you can grow your business: find brand new customers, get increased business from your current customers, or steal your competitors' customers. And when it comes to recruiting, option #3 is extremely viable. If I'm a CFB coach who needs to build a class in a hurry--NSD is two weeks from today--I'd start by looking at other schools' OOS commitments who verbaled early as kids who a) are obviously willing to go to school and play away from their families, and b) because they were such early commits, might be having second thoughts, either because they're not sure or because other kids at their position committed after they did. For example, if I'm the first WR who committed to TAMU and then watched them get 8 more, I'd be saying WTF and thinking that's not what I'd bought into when I committed nine months ago.
Urban seems to have kept his word to Elliot and not recruited any other RBs. Although frankly, I'm not sure if Jalin Marshall or Dontre Wilson or Elliott are RBs or WRs any more than De'Anthony Thomas is an RB or WR. They're all freakishly multi-talented athletes who can fill a variety of roles--WR, RB, KR, PR.
Well I know we offer committed recruits if there is mutual interest. That is why I asked, if he was having doubts. I don't know how Texas operates, but the thread does have 3/4 up votes already. Also seen we have finally offered Timmons as well.
I'm personally not worried about it. Now if Zeke all of a sudden wanted to visit, that would be an indicator to be concerned.
Agreed, Anyone can offer him, now IF he wants to visit, then you may have a red flag. Pretty sure he is sold on Meyer!!

Well no one has signed a LOI yet so I would sure as heck hope that every one of OSU recruits is still being offered and recruited by other teams. If they weren't then it would only be an indication of a poor quality class. If you are recruiting the kind of players that every one wants then you are going to have to go to the wire with them. I remember a quote that I once heard attributied to some head coach whose name I forget who said that a verbel commitment only means we probably have a better then average chance of actually getting an LOI from a player on signing day. Recruiting is a street fight and this year more then any I can ever remember is about as active as they come. It will really be interesting to see who and how many this class end up with.
Keep in mind, the young man wants to be a medical doctor. That also played a part in his commitment to tOSU.
"Any board that would ban 3yds is worthless"
3yd, you are hereby BANNED from further posting until you tell me where you got the middle pic in your sig! They look like they should be Buckeye cheerleaders but I know ours don't have sexy-something outfits like they're wearing. Maybe Tampa Bay Bucs cheerleaders? Time to 'fess up!
Now he is taking a visit to Missouri. Zeke may not like the thought of Urban looking at bringing in Wilson/Timmons
wedding jitters, I think he's still all buckeyes a call from Meyer and the coordinator should calm this situation down.
Ya Alex just posted this over at 11W also but said he did some digging and is confident Zeke is all Buckeye:
Tampa Bay. Should be a flag on her buckle.
So did Robert Smith. Every student wants to be a doctor or a lawyer until the first mid term, then reality sets in.
I am always wary of these situations. Sounds like Elliot doesn't want competition...or maybe he is just playing it safe. We have had situations like that. All I can say is, I always prefer the kid willing to fight for his spot.
One way or another, you guys are set at RB anyway.
And then there's John Frank.
Meyer wants speed very similar to RR except Meyer doesnt forget to recruit defense. So Elliot is a need, although one player never makes a team.
So someone should have just told Krenzel not to waste his time? Interesting.
doesn't want competition..You do see the running backs that OSU has. Hyde, Hall, Ball, Smith, Dunn. 2 of them will be gone next season but still. A lot of talent here. That being said, I still think will follow his word, if not OSU can survive.
The kid will make a decision that is best for him. Good luck to him and hope he picks the Buckeyes, he can either be the windshield or the bug.....world needs both...
I agree. I think Elliot is a better fit than Wilson, frankly.
As for competition, I think anyone coming in knows you guys have a bunch of guys in the wings...so adding two in the class makes it even harder for a young guy to make an impact.
I read about an hour ago that Zeke's family spoke with the staff and was told Dontre is being recruited as a receiver.
I admit I am not up to speed, but didn't Wilson want to be a RB at Oregon?
I'm sure he did, and truth be told I'm sure he will be an APB here as well. He may play in the slot a lot, but in Meyer's offense the slot receiver motions into the backfield quite a bit either as a wing back, tailback, or on jet sweeps and I honestly expect Zeke to play the same position, but we'll see what happens. Just hope he doesn't decide to go to Mizzou at the last minute.
