...looking for some local eats/bars.
I have to go to Louisville for work 1/14-1/17. Anyone have any suggestions for some really good local fare?
I looked on diners, drive-ins, and dives and also man vs food to see whee those guys have been. Let's just say the Comfy Cow challenge will be given a run for it's money!

Make sure you take a pic of it and post it on Bucknuts before you dig in...that way, we all know what killed you...
I want to know the size of the scoop, cause from that photo it looks like they are the size of a baseball.
Walk in the park.
Hit up the Tin Roof in Louisville. Also hit up 4th street live. Louisville also has its bad parts of the city, be smart and stay in the safer spots.
If you're into Bourbon drinking, there are distilleries in Bardstown. Bardstown, KY is not that far away from Louisville.
MEMO TO FICKELL: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!
I'm staying at the Galt House and won't have a vehicle, so the closer the better.
I'm assuming the Comfy Cow T-shirt only comes in xxxl
I work in Louisville and 4th Street Live has multiple good places for food and drink. Gordon Biersch(Sp?) is a chain, but the last couple times I have gone I have had excellent beer and great New York Strip Steak. If you catch it on a good night, the ladies in the area can be hit or miss(it is Kentucky after all). But it being the winter, might not be the best night life.
Makers Mark and Jim Beam distilleries aren't far at all from there (bout 1/2 hour to an hour away).
As dossbuckeyes said, avoid certain areas but the area around 4th Street Live is good.
Enjoy and have a good time from a rival fan. Cheers.
I dont know the name of the place but it a chicken place right by the bookstore in the newer area. Best chicken fingers Ive ever had. It was THAT good. Great city, have fun
Big fan of Marks Feed Store. Reminds me of City BBQ. I would try out any of the Bourbon dis tellers restaurants that are downtown. I haven't been the Muhammad Ali museum but I heard its really amazing. Don't recommend Bristols (Walking distance from the Galt house).. Very average food for the price. Louisville Bat Factory is really cool and only takes an hour so of time do. 4th Street is the downtown night life scene. it's a good time but the bars I are very expensive compared to Columbus. I would check it out though because it's within walking distance of your hotel.
I'd go to the Louisville forum and ask them for obvious reasons. Fun city though!

The Brown Hotel to get a Hot Brown. Turkey, bacon, cheese sauce, cheese and tomatos.
The hot Brown can be had in other restaurants but the Brown Hotel is the original.
The Ruth Chris Steakhouse is amazing. Its in a historic building with a great view of the city. If nothing else visit the bar for a drink. It is worth it.
Do the Ali museum. The volunteers told us that he shows up on average once a month, usually on a Monday. We didnt get to see him but we missed him by a couple days. The Bat Museum is awesome too. Great advice from earlier poster.
Raisin' Canes or another chicken place?
i had to search 10 pages in order to find something where James Quick was the subject...I was thinking last night how disappointed I was after hearing that this young man picked Louisville over tOSU. Yeah...i get the home town thing...but...he actually did pick that school / coach over tOSU & Meyer...I wonder if he has had any 2nd thoughts considering the level of talent hauled in & also all the national title talk surrounding tOSU... and also - it amazes me how that "disappointment" i was experiencing was replaced by sheer excitement when i seen the news of James Clark picking tOSU !!! So...after the loss of Quick....Meyer goes out & lands Corey Smith & James Clark as well as Dontre Wilson ---------------------- WOW!!!! hahaha....that guy is so fricken unbelievable !!!!
