Cool, thx for the updates.
I think we've lost over half of the 2010 class to injury (I think at least two were career-ending too) and transfer. Plus the one offensive lineman Rich Rod took in that TWENTY SEVEN man class left after a year. That is why we took so many offensive lineman this year.
so how many of RR guys are still left ?
Too logical, too obvious, too simple, therefore unacceptable to this board...
If I were scUM fan, I'd be concerned about how many OH players they recruited that we didn't want. Guys like Butt, Charlton, and Dukes were from right here in town, and we didn't even look twice at them. Urban set his sights higher. It really seemed like Hoke wanted to recruit OH, just to start to build relationships and gain a foothold in the future. The problem with that is, what if these guys don't help you win? You just wasted a bunch of schollies and you still won't have an advantage in the future when Urban wants an OH kid, as those kids prefer to play here anyway. But I can't fault Hoke though as it doesn't look like too many top players nationally want to go there. scUM used to recruit well in places like TX, Ga, FL, and CA, but they don't have a single recruit from these states this year. They also only have 1 from PA even though PSU is no longer ruling the roost there. Aside from OL, I think this class is a disappointment for them.

Dude come on, we won't know how good they are until 4 years from now or 5
Well duh. My point being that Urban didn't pursue most of their OH guys that hard. I'd be concerned about that, and the lack of recruiting in premium states.
Hoke's an Ohio guy, already has long standing relationships there.
Photo finish ??
Of all the things I am worried about Michigan's class (foremost that we didn't get a big WR playmaker), this is something I am virtually not worried about.
Hoke is kind of recruiting like Tressel did. He's making a strong regional program with some contributions nationally. Meyer is trying to make a strong national program with some contributions regionally.
The difference is that when Tressel was doing that there wasn't really another national power in the conference. Hoke will have to face a powerhouse OSU. That's not saying that scUM will never beat the Bucks, but I'm betting that it happens much less often than the Bucks beating the Wolverines.
Scout has Michigan's class ranked as #1 by a wide margin. But yes, 247 merely has them in the top 5. I think we can all agree we're splitting hairs at this point. Both OSU and UM will sign tremendous classes tomorrow.. and then both fanbases will cross their fingers that these kids will live up to the hype. I can think of a dozen top recruits both fanbases were crowing about in the past five yrs, only to watch those kids do zero on the field. But it sure looks good for NLOI day! Great for the conference.
agree with the splitting hairs on the recruiting side...sorta kinda...i think tOSU ran way with the "playmakers" while scUM loaded up on the OL...Green was a nice get but fair is fair - Meyer didnt want him...what it will come down to & here tOSU has the biggest advantage is COACHING & for a scUM fan to disagree with that only proves delusional hope in a guy who was average everywhere he has been all you want but Meyer has been there & done that everywhere he has been & last season only solidified what he is capable of
We should be all set to have some serious on-field battles over the next few years and likely longer. We definitely seem to be trending back to the days of the Big 2 and "everyone else". Works for me.
Not being an asshole but you know scouts rankings have more to do with # of recruits also right, that factors heavily into their ranking.
Pretty meaningless either way. I think we both have had fantastic classes. Ask me in four years who is better.
I think down deep, you already know that answer. Urban will prevail!
Those Who Stay Will Be Championshipless
Yep. Both classes are awesome. Epic battles will ensue in the future.
