Agree with you on the scheduling issue. It's more important than ever especially with the new BCS system in place to increase schedule strength, I think we're getting there.
True, & most of us "Klingons" understand the scheduling issues and how it's done....
My point was with next years incredibly weak schedule - we will need to go undefeated to be in the hunt for the NC game; especially, if there are other teams from the SEC, PAC, & BIG 12 who may be undefeated or with 1 loss. I just don't see the computers/ voters showing any love towards us Buckeyes with our carefully crafted schedule for the 2013 season.
San Diego St.(?)
I don't care how FAR in advance schedules are finalized - no excuse for this mess of an OOC schedule!
In the NFL there are two components that universally govern scheduling: where you finish in your division and who your division plays that year...
And win convincingly.
Agreed no excuse for this vag schedule
When Cal was scheduled they were contending for the PAC 10 and were losing close games to USC under Pete Carroll. They simply have fallen off.
Again, this schedule was made under the current BCS system and frankly, the school cant fix it. Also, its not OSU's fault the rest of the conference stinks and they can't obtain legitimacy through conference play. Unfortunately this is another embedded consequence they must deal with. (Notice I didnt call it unforeseen as they can do NOTHING about this- they are a BIG school and that isnt changing in my lifetime.)
They made all necessary adjustments going forward and did so immediately. Thats all you can ask from Gene Smith.
"man we got some fuckin weirdos on this site." - Davebucknut 9/5/13 post of the year
All they can control is how well they do on the field. That's it!
Win baby....just win!!
Yep, Cal was "on-fire" in '04 & '06 - I guess these are the years you are mentioning - all other seasons (before & after) were pretty average (if not bad) years for the Golden Bears. 6-8 years ago they scheduled this home-and-home series, I guess that's about right.
I agree there is nothing that the school can do now, at least SDSU will be in the BIG EAST next season - BCS opponent.
They are making the necessary changes in the future schedules - just hope we do not get shutout of the NC game next season!

gene smith was overheard to say the other day, "when this fair weather fan nicknamed soflabuck who's always ragging on me quits bucknuts for good, then i'll fix the schedule. until then, i'm really enjoying pulling his chain."
Understand I do agree with you, the schedule, looking at it right now, blows monkey balls. No doubt about that.
The keys for next year are finishing this season UNDEFEATED which will create preseason hype, riding the preseason hype, hope for teams with one loss, and blow out a lot of teams next year.
Thats all they can really do...
Definitely looking forward to beating the shit out of Whisky and SCUM this year! Bear I'm stocked for tomorrow!
What time is the game?
That's a good one Indy.....
But just in case you're serious....3:30 and that's P.M.
I was serious...and I'm going to miss it for some family stuff, well I'll catch the first half anyway...grrrrrrr @#$%&^!
I actually didnt know for sure, thanks Bear!!
That 1995 schedule was not all that tough.
Notre Dame was real good.
Washington was mediocre(7-4-1)
Boston College was bad (4-8)
And Pitt was as dreadful a team as you could imagine(2-9). OSU and Pitt played from 1993-96 with Ohio State winning 63-28; 27-3; 54-14 and 72-0.
family stuff is 10 times more important......
My oldest sister got married on the day of The Game way back in 86'.....my brother-in-law was besides himself!!
We snuck a t.v. into the back of the church where the groomsmen were hanging out....it was super fun and a great memory.
Enjoy the family time....
+1, That's why I'm doing it. Doesn't mean there isn't going to be some internal grumbling however.
