Like I have been trying to say, no one is saying he is a great coordinator.
We are just saying we can't judge his abilities due to the circumstances, now 2014 & 2015.. We will have sufficient grounds to judge or reach a conclusion..
Where the communication is lost is when the whole "insider thing comes into play" which you are entitled to your opinion..
Indy flat out said he never liked the guy, which I understand.. You didn't see me attack him or anything..
Personally I think coaching is really hard, especially in this win now Vacuum..
2013 is not going to be smooth for the defense, especially if the safeties play like the did last season.. With good safety play, the rest of the defense can grow into a great unit come post season..
Too logical, too obvious, too simple, therefore unacceptable to this board...
And while I disagree with your assertion that circumstances prevent evaluation, I can certainly accept your difference of opinion. And we'll equally have to agree to disagree on the insiders things apparently, which is also fine.
2013 will be tougher overall simply because they lose so much. This is another reason I'm glad Heacock is bring brought in to help. He's been through this a time or six as far as having young kids trying to fill voids left by senior starters.
Hopefully things will pan out well for us once they all have a chance to gel.
Our real weakness on defense is still the linebacker position.
That is what ties the defense together from the line of scrimmage to the backfield....and the only proven guy we have back there is Shazier.
Other than that we have very little experience and we need for these guys to step in and fill those gaps....like Trey Johnson and Mike Mitchell.....would love to see those guys be able to make an impact right away.
If the linebacker play is strong....and really turns the corner.....the rest of the defensive unit is going to fall into place. Once that happens these guys are going to be good.....I mean really really good!
Plumb, mad dog mean good!!!
Coming back to a team that went 12-0 last year helps with that lost passion.
I in no manner is saying that I think that LF is a great or servicable coach. He did fail miserably as a HC--don't buy about the inexperience, but made some obvious misteps as HC, that likely, even I would know better than. The bottom line an HC must manage a multitude of responsibilites and he was not ready for the job.
Again, my point is that there was no leverage involved regarding UM hire. I highly doubt there was any such limitations placed on UM. IMO he was offered with no strings tied. It's your job if you want it, we really want you. Little mention of LF. If anything, UM may himself thought is useful to have LF onboard during the transition year, and if things are not up to he par, he will take actions to replace LF.
This thread has been going strong now for four days. Any confirmation or news updates on whether Jim Heacock is going to join the team?
(I'd ask if anyone has heard from any "insiders," but I don't want to seem like a smart ass.)
Here is the latest I've read on it, but no it doesn't confirm anything, just talks about Heacock and what he would bring -- http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/03/20439/ohio-state-football-what-jim-heacock-return-means
Haven't heard anything from anyone else or any other sites yet.
This is the most hush-hush public story I've ever seen about our Buckeyes.
Very confusing for a Buckeye fan.
Just wondering what's going on with this.
Ya it's kinda like the MSU Bollman thing where they wouldn't announce his duties for days, just that negotiations were taking place.
