Lots of Michigan insiders think they were close to pulling his offer, because he "demanded" playing time at early...Michigan has
3 NFL kids returning to the O Line including Lewan 0 sacks in 2 years and a high 1st round pick..yep Jordan u should play over these guys..
im just happy he is at Auburn i promise he will be in trouble at some point
Figured he'd go to Auburn where they pay the most for recruits -- insider info from his visit indicated he was that type of recruit, similar to Cam Newton. I'm just glad he went to another conference. :)
In a list of all time major infractions, defined as those in which the school has been penalized by the NCAA for rules violations, auburn ranks 3rd, and second among football programs. SMU is number one (more good christians!), so you could arguably say that auburn is the most penalized 'major' football program. Auburn has 7 major violations in its history, Arizona State has 8 (but they were mostly baseball related) and SMU also has 8. So the cam newton fiasco will officially put auburn in first place in something, congratulations, you retards deserve it.
A summary, from the last 50 years in reverse chronological order...
2004, their accreditation threatened due to academic violations, with football booster and board of trustees member Bobby Lowder specifically named, the accreditation committee put them on 5 years probation beginning in 2004 (maybe why they waited until 2009 to buy a cam newton, had to wait until the 2004 academic probation was over with?) This is why they were left out of the 2004 title game. WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION ALREADY, the 'sociology' scandal broke, with a professor funneling football players through fake classes that didn't really have classes. This is a recurring theme at Auburn, continued violations while on probation already.
1991-1993, Former Auburn coach Terry Bowden said on tape that boosters were funneling thousands of dollars to football players when he became coach in 1993, a time when the Tigers already were on NCAA probation. "They were paying players cash, $12,000, $15,000 to sign," Bowden said on the recording. "All I was told to do was shake hands and say, 'Thank you. I appreciate how much you love Auburn."'. This was the Eric Ramsey era, in which that former player audio taped himself on the phone getting promises of cash from multiple assistant coaches and head coach/AD Pat Dye himself. The 60 minutes interview names Bobby Lowder and Colonial Bank again. Lowder also put Pat Dye himself on the board of Colonial Bancorp after Auburn fired him. Colonial Bank collapsed in 2008, at the time the 6th larged bank failure in US history, a slew of lawsuits since blame Lowder.
1979, Extra benefits, improper recruiting contacts, entertainment, inducements, lodging, publicity and transportation, excessive number of official visits, tryouts, questionable practice, all got both the football and basketball programs probation. 2 years for football and 1 year for basketball.
1953 and 1957 also saw auburn on suspension from bowl games for paying high school recruits. Thus making their national title claim in 1957 quite dubious. Again, WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION they were cited for rules violations again in 1955 and 1958.
Some of the links are broken/unverified, but a mathematical analysis suggests auburn was on probation 33% of the time from the 50s to the mid 90s, with every head coach in that time frame having a violation under his tenure.
Things change....Gunny Meyer KICK ASS...
What gets me is Auburn people saying they went through a long investigation and came out clean. No they didn't. Cam did. They might have missed out on any action from the NCAA but the fact still is the fact. They paid money to get a recruit. Pure and simple. So why would anyone believe they wouldn't do it again?
really?? Ohio people calling Auburn a cheat? Really??? Oh I forgot how your failure to monitor violation wasn't for paying or providing benefits to players. I guess the firing of Tressell was just because you wanted to find a new coach right? And that is just the violations we KNOW about. You know as well as I do if those were known there are more that weren't. A little pot calling the kettle black I see. Oh, and Jordan just wanted to play for an SEC team that plays a full schedule of teams that aren't cupcakes. The best talent usually wants to compete against other top talent. Of course then you have those who just want to skate by and go to the Big Ten...but whatever.
Don't be a jerk !
Formerly "Buckeye47Fan". Couldn't carry over my handle, why 247 ?
Ok. So our violation which consisted of a couple dumb kids trading their stuff for tattoos (something the kids did), 2 kids not paying for a golf outing (again something the kids did), and some kids getting paid for work they did, and we're comparing this to Auburn? Who admittingly paid the father of a recruit 6 figures to force his son to play there? The school directly did that. And will continue to do that because the kid supposedly didn't know?? The school still did! They openly and knowingly pay for their players. That cannot be compared evenly with anything that happened here.
Right on all counts, but probably not worth your time arguing with an Auburn fan...as previously shown by boom, Auburn is arguably one of the dirtiest programs out there -- history demonstrates this, but they like it that way, otherwise they wouldn't be here arguing about it, lol.
True. I guess if it was me knowing I was associated with the dirtiest and most crooked organization, the last thing I would do is raise hell about others. If nothing else, to not put a spotlight on myself.
I'm just glad that we don't have to play against him at tsun. The game against tsun later this year IS our bowl game.
Go Buckeyes !
I'm really glad you guys have Urban Meyer. Looks like he's already bringing his brand of joy to your conference. Enjoy.
Exactly. Like I said earlier, I'm just glad Diamond went somewhere where it's unlikely we'll ever line up against him.
++1 Boom Boom you are an Explosive, dynamite, C 4 EXPERT. Keep throwing bombs at them
Love it marine!
You need to just STFU, and enjoy the fact that you got caught red handed and beat the rap due to some loophole in the rules, which the NCAA has now seen fit to get closed after that embarrassment. What our kids (and coach) did is NOTHING compared to the history of cheating and violations Auburn has. Auburn is the crookedest program in the history of College Football. There is NO denying that fact. I ask which is worse: kids trading their own personal property, (100% legal in this country except in the NCAA), and the coach ignoring it, or potential organized crime issues? The FBI will tell us soon enough about that illegal gambling $ and ATM cards to select players. I loved Diamond's comments about how "they sure know how to treat someone down south." "Money, money, money, mon-ey........MONEY!" I know, the $EC motto i$...."If y'all ain't cheatin', y'all ani't tryin'!! Yee Haw!
Okay..did you leave out the coach that KNOWINGLY lied about all the extra incentives and then COVERED it up? maybe we forgot that?? And who admittingly paid the father...Auburn never paid him...he tried to extort money from Mississippi State, but Auburn had a 9 month investigation that even the FBI got in on..and were TOTALLY cleared...Ohio State was found to be in violation..so maybe your right we shouldn't compare...your is far worse. You institution was involved...if anyone was to have paid Cam (which I stress if because it didn't happen) it would have been a rouge booster and our coaches wouldn't have covered it up...we actually have a thing called INTEGRITY down here. Maybe you haven't heard of that word. Your kids received money for playing PERIOD..even if it is selling/trading their stuff for tattoos..that is monetary value. It was proven...plus the worst is the COVER UP. So yes we are comparing. Know your facts.
lol..I love it. Still reporting on stuff that is CLOSED that never happened. Man, you northern idiots don't keep up with much real facts do you? You just spout off words with out ever really knowing anything? Organized crime? really??? Dude, your about as dumb as a recruit picking Michigan. Oh, and can you honestly tell me that you believe Ohio State hasn't and doesn't pay players? Your a complete dumb a$% if you say no. Arizona State is the most crooked to correct you...maybe you should look that fact up as well. You guys are just jealous that even with Meyer you are still third best conference in the nation and even with Meyer you will win Big-10 but never be able to beat a good SEC team, let alone the great ones each year. Don't be too hurt though. I am sure Meyer will pay a few players to come there and you might win a few recruiting battles that way. I mean it's sad that one recruit is causing you guys so much pain and angst that you didn't get him. Poor little OHIO....your the guys with the white and green color scheme right? I can't remember, you both have about as much football relevance as the other. Maybe Urban will get you back to top 10 or 15 without a National Championship...who knows.
Ohio State self-reported the violations, they were not FOUND to be in violation by some random investigation. The NCAA were invited in after the self report. Some kids sold their own $hit and the coach kept quiet for fear he would blow a criminal investigation of Rife. Should he have kept quiet? Apparently not, he got fired. Lesson learned.
And if you really believe the Newton family weren't paid after the investigations brought forth a report of Cam Newton saying to another school recruiting them that he'd selected Auburn because the "money was too much" I've got a bridge to nowhere to sell you for only.....$180k. Great price!
I find it comical that given Auburn's history of corruption and violations, that you would even mention a word such as integrity to describe Auburn. Put a nice big asterisk next to your national title. No one in the country with the exception of Auburn fans thinks you played that game with eligible players. So enjoy it because as you say...Auburn's clean. What a joke.
First, love the Michigan reference, I do agree with this. ;)
Second, your 2nd and 3rd sentences sound like you're basically admitting the Newton's were paid by Auburn, and are in some way trying to justify it by saying other schools pay their players...kind of a contradiction to some of your previous posts.
I got suspended 2 days ago. Their mod's a prick!!!
We haven't had a rules violation in over 20 years. You guys have. So, yes...Auburn University is clean. Secondly, just because one team is asked for money doesn't mean another is. Have you seen the state of football at Mississippi State. Auburn has always been one of the places good and great players wanted to come...Mississippi State..not so much. So yes I can see someone asking for money to play at MSU. Something that happens at one place doesn't lead to happening at another. That is called assumption and is an idiots way of looking at something. Hence the reason I hope you never investigate anything. You talk as if you know, the only thing you know is what was reported by the media and internet...and we all know those two outlets are ALWAYS right. Don't really care what everyone else thinks, we played with player that were not paid. You are just hurt that Ohio State has no relevance anymore and can never be in the same league or sentence with the SEC. You all have to make up stories to make yourself feel better about your third best league status..I mean i would rather be in the cellar in the SEC than at the top of the Big10. Oh, and your self reported violations...if that was all it was you wouldn't have been slapped with "failure to monitor". Your coach LIED to the NCAA. He was part of a COVER-UP...period. You make it out to be "better" than what it is to make it easier..but it isn't. So, if you think Ohio State doesn't pay some of their players....I got a warm island beach in Northern Alaska I will trade with you for that bridge to nowhere....or tatoos..whichever suits you.
apparently you can't read either. I said it's a BIG IF "because we didn't pay him". Da$% you Ohio State fans must get a horrible education, because you sure can't read or comprehend anything. So, no it's not a contradiction. I said that because most of you will refuse to believe otherwise no matter what the FBI, NCAA, and a multitude of Official organizations tell you. You refuse because you think you know more about things that you really know nothing about. So, in order to come down to your level of understanding one must use small words. So, what I am saying is "if you refuse to believe that Cam wasn't paid then instead of bitching about us maybe you should look at your own problems and if you refuse to believe that Ohio State hasn't or doesn't ever do that then your a complete idiot"
I had to throw in the Michigan reference just for you guys..i knew that one would at least draw a little appreciation ;)
