Hoke Expects Devin Gardner Redshirt. from Hoke's presser today.
"Devin Gardner redshirt status: "I would expect that would go through." Documentation is being sent to the Big Ten"
I was unaware that you could retroactively apply for a redshirt like that. Seems fair two years after the fact.
Have to assume he'll get it. He only threw 10 passes as a true freshman.
I was unaware you could do something so retroactively like that as well. Nonetheless, who cares. I wasn't impressed at all by what I saw out of him this year. And obviously the coaching staff up north didn't think much of him as a QB either because they had moved him to WR earlier in the year.
Yup I think he gets it to I remember RR was the one who first asked for the redshirt when he was there.
Well they moved him because they needed more WR's and they didn't want to just waste him by sitting him down doing nothing. He didn't have his best game on Saturday but the fact that was just his 4th game as a starter was a big part of it he didn't play qb all year long not even in the spring also going in and out of the game using 2 qbs all day didn't help. That said it should be fun to watch both guys play each other for the next 2 years.
I"m sure the mighty Shane Morris will have something to say about that!
Those Who Stay Will Be Championshipless
Shane Morris is a head case that dude will not see the field anytime soon. He has a lot of growing up to do.
after seeing him turn the ball over 3 times saturday this makes me feel ok
Gardner couldn't beat out velcro so the Hokester made him a WR. Unless he improves greatly between now and next fall scUM will be weak and inconsistant @ QB. If Morris the mouth comes in as a true freshman and wins the job it will be more of an indictment of the talent level available than a serious upgrade. Overall I believe that scUM is going to be down at QB for a few years. Unless someone steps up significantly @ RB (will Taint be back @ 100%?) scUM's offense will be sporatic and inefficient next year.
OSU should be much improved on offense next year.
I thought Gardner looked very good in the two games he played leading up to us. Outside of the bomb to Roundtree, we shut him down pretty good but he's a big kid with talent. He'll improve the longer he plays the position. I think he'll provide us with plenty of competition for the next two years...before losing.
I think he has a 100% legitimate reason to redshirt based on what happened his freshman year, but I think it's kinda weird that they waited as long as they did, and that kind of wait time probably should not be allowed. IMO anyway.
it's not like no one has ever done this before with the waiting. if you think they should chaneg the rule, that's one thing, but lets not make it sound like michigan is somehow cheating or something
It was my understanding they applied for a redshirt at the end of his Freshman year...I am not sure what this new application is about. This redshirt application has been much talked about by Michigan fans.
Are you talking to me or just out loud?
Back up a year...we were saying exactly the same thing about Braxton and our offense.
Do not underestimate these guys.
Sound fishy to me.
Rodriguez said on Wednesday that Gardner is going to make the trip to the Penn State game as the "emergency" quarterback.
I'm not going to speculate about whether this injury is legitimate or not, but I think all football fans can agree that the smart thing to do from the get-go was to redshirt Gardner so he has an extra year of separation from Denard Robinson and Tate Forcier. Since he played this season, the only way to do that is by getting a medical redshirt.

Gardner throws like a girl. See the whole second half. If he is there future, he will have a senior season like Deenard...........WASTE!

look straight at me and you see yourself”

Too bad for lil' Shaney the mouth, eh?
No big deal, this happens all the time. In 2014, he will make a big deal about coming back to beat OSU and win a national championship.....wait..that sounds familiar.
just talking out loud
