Thanks Italian! Awesom interview. Love hearing how he loves college football.
He said the same thing on Mike & Mike. He's a peddler who's keeping busy selling--he's sending messages to every offensive player--and not just QBs--that playing in his spread won't hurt their chances of playing on Sundays but could actually enhance them.
The NFL is evolving. Versatility is the name of the game. Classic RBs like Adrian Peterson are a rare breed--not only aren't there very many of them but their durability is even lower than mobile QBs, who everyone expects to throw the ball out of bounds or run out of bounds or slide feet first to avoid getting hit. The classic dropback passer standing in the pocket is just as vulnerable as a mobile QB--just look at how many have had concussions.
How firm thy friendship O-HI-O
Thanks for sharing IB that was a great listen.....
Loved hearing him talk about coaching college football.....especially about what he knew he wanted to bring once he became a head coach.
I'm just very very thankful though that Urban Meyer also understands how important being great defensively is......if Chip Kelly can figure that out.....whewwee.....then they might be almost impossible to beat.
I don't see Adrian Peterson as a classic Running Back He is more a speed back than the old John Riggins or Cory Dillon,he is a modern RB much like many teams have.
I still think if Shannahan chooses to use RG3 as a running QB he will be out of the league in 3 years just like Mike Vick is almost spent.
The body just can't be that small and athletic and take those hits from defensive players that big and fast, even Cam Newton would be diminished quickly if he took a lot of hits.
