Know you are missing a bowl this year but thot you might find this interesting as we may meet next year.
It would be easy to attribute this victory over Oregon State to the Beavers NOT having the same defensive personnel as Stanford, yet the fact is few teams

find what interesting? Did you have a link?
In the 1st explanation that is not the weak side of the line. When you have 3 lineman on one side and 2 on the other....the side with 2 is the weak side...even though that's the TE lined up at left tackle...it is still considered the weak side on this particular formation.... FYI.
Good stuff....in the second description....that Oregon State defensive end made a bad read/adjustment lining up on the inside shoulder of the TE. That is a pretty basic defensive read and your instincts tell you that if this is a run it's coming your way and your job as a DE is contain and let the corner and linebacker clean up....you never want to give the TE or even a tackle the ability to pin you inside. Had the DE lined up on the outside shoulder and not gotten himself turned in.... OSU might have been able to prevent such a big gain.
Your guys had to be licking their chops when they saw this and the OSU D didn't pick up on it....especially Mariota and Barner. Great play by you guys and excellent execution as well. It's no wonder it was a big gainer. Great play.
That third scenario is awesome!
Again...Mariota and Barner had to be licking their chops yet again....especially when they were able to get the safeties to bite on the shift of Barner.
It's always fun to see these plays break down. Now I believe had that been a better, more disciplined defense (OSU's defense is no where near that of Stanfords) like when you faced the Cardinal....my guess would be that the safeties would have stayed home.
Either way a difficult play to defend....but the safeties should have stayed home. If they do that and make their read (pass or run) they would be in much better position to make a play. But like I said...either way hard to do with Barner and Mariota in the backfield.
Thanks for sharing.

Stanford is not only a big physical D but highly intelligent....Beavs not so much on the IQ part. Makes a big difference
for sure it does. Defense has to be smart...and quick smart at that!
Question for you....
Why in the hell didn't the 'Black Mamba' make an attempt to block that Stanford defender who was giving chase? Was he trying to race Mariota to the end zone? Man...game over right there....no need for OT.
While I'm at it...on that note. Why didn't your bone head coach kick a field goal that early in the game and take the 3 points? Is his ego that big to think it doesn't matter? Sure....it's his super high tempo un-stoppable spread machine offense...but come on man. Kick the field goal...and don't risk shifting that momentum from that beautiful run by Mariota to Stanfords defense....
All your coach accomplished by doing that was make Stanford believe they could stop your offense all night. And guess what...they did just that. Kelly kicks the 3 pointer and again...NO OT!!
If I were a Ducks fan I'd have been pi$$ed off about that one....that was a no brainer especially that early in the game.
Mamba an obvious brain fart cause he usually is not afraid to block....our field goal kickers are a combined 4-12. First extra point against Furd hit the upright and went thru ...overtime field goal hit upright and bounced out. Then he missed first attempt in Civil War Too! I don't want to say he sucks but............
He's that bad?
You guys were inside the 10 yard line and goal to goal! Well if he's that bad then Kelly's 1st recruiting priority should be to get the best kicker in the country.
Or just an average kicker who can kick 10 yd field goals lol
He's bad...let's leave it at that!
Do have a pretty good commit...Matt Wogan
I think Stanford probably did extremely well at quickly reacting to certain keys such as slight differences in alignment, the initial movement of the line, maybe the O-line and Mariotta had very small things they would do that would tip off the defense and the defense wasn't shy at attacking that as soon as the ball was snapped.
Yeah I agree...
Even the best defenses definitely have their hands full trying to stop that offense. Hats off to any team that can keep that unit from scoring less than 20 points.....hell 30 points for that matter.
Well that's good to hear. Would be great for you guys to have that extra little edge and nuances that could make your team even more complete.
Would be nice for you guys to get some more upgrades defensively as well.....and I think your defense played better this year than I've seen them play yet.
That offense though is just plain crazy good....
Best of luck to you guys against whoever you draw in your bowl game....especially if it's against the skunk bears from up north!
Any team that knocks USC of their perch is ok in my book. However, Im not uber worried about Oregon in the future. They score but cant defend. OSU went 12-0 with a patchwork group of defenders and a brand new coach. Oregon IS FAST but so is Denard Robinson. Oregons speed will be nothing new for the Buckeyes (certainly not new to UfM) if they match up. Ill take fast and physical versus really fast and tiny. The last time Oregon strated the "Slowhio State" stuff, they left Pasadena a few feathers the lighter. Like I said, the Ducks are my favorite in the Pac12 and I like to see them do well but the SEC is our main concern.
Most likely we get Okie or Kansas st in Fiesta
