Mike Farrell for Rivals seems to think so :"Vonn Bell is the toughest one to figure. I said it would be Alabama then but now it appears to be a battle between Ohio State and Tennessee. There is a lot of smoke about a silent Tennessee commitment and I know Bell's parents loved Knoxville, but a reliable source told me that the Buckeyes still have the edge despite the excellent visit to the Vols. I'm going to say Ohio State, but not with a ton of confidence. "
It would be great to get him but I'm not holding my breath. I'm 20% sure he's a buckeye.
I'd give us at least 1/3 or 33%, but I just feel good about those odds for some reason. Urban has laid it all out for this kid he, I would say is the recruit that the staff and the boss has spent the most time on, so if he can say no to Urban then so be it.
It is his loss, IMO. Good luck to the kid.
How come there's no yelling, "Meyer can't close" as there was regarding Tressel:) LOL....
Still think this is a great class and good luck to all the kids who choose to wear the Scarlet and Gray.
I think you read it wrong.. Mike Farrell thinks he might be OSU bound... then again maybe you read it correctly and think Mike Farrell is a bad analyst.
I'd put it at 50-50 OSU-UT. Chance to win championships with early PT vs. sentimental favorite/home school. We usually miss out on these but we are due for the odds to go in our favor For once.
I just need one more stud in this class: Bell, Clark or Carrington.

Is Bama out of it totally? I know OSU and UT are favored.
I dont know. I dont think anyone knows. They have a lot of resources For getting kids to go down there at the 11th hour...
Congrats on Green BTW.
But he was excellent as BJ Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H!
60% of the time he's all Buckeye every time.
I have though Bell was a OSU lean all along...but the UT thing came out of left field for me.
I say we land this kid just because a while ago his coach said if he was forced to make a decision now he would pick tOSU. To bad he couldn't have stayed for the bball game when he visited us. Can UT really make ground on us ?
The problem is, is that he grew up worshiping Eric Berry and was a huge Tennessee fan because of it. I think Alabama is out due to the availability of early playing time with Clinton-Dix holding down his spot. The longer it goes the tougher it is for us, but I still give us a good chance in this. I hope he is all buckeye, but wish him well regardless, he is a good kid
Stop it. You're aging yourself!!!!
Mike Farrell's been right a hell of a lot more than wrong, I follow him pretty closely. He was spot on with Diggs while everyone else was saying he's a Buckeye he said Maryland.

dave biddle thinks that we'll land james clarke if that interest anyone after interviewing him
I hope so, reading lots of good stuff about him.
Hard to say. I think the Eddie Jackson commitment today, if Andrew Bone (Bama Rivals writer) is correct in that they were opting to pursue Jackson at CB rather than Bell at S, Bama is pretty much out of it by their own choice. Just blows my mind that they'd spend all this time woo-ing Bell if they planned to pursue Jackson instead? But maybe that's a recent development.
Seems to be trending OSU-VOLs. Lately I'd heard all VOLS, so I'm a bit surprised Farrell thinks OSU. He said his source is reliable, though, so who knows! Gonna be interesting! People on the VOLnation forum are claiming that: 1) Vonn's dad told the UT AD and coaching staff that he's a VOL, and 2) that Vonn has been wearing TENN gear at school after the visit. But those kind of rumours are as often fake as they are real. The gear stuff is just interesting, you can never draw conclusions from that (i.e. David Dawson was wearing Florida Gators gear at school supposedly, but obviously never ended up there).

I'm not aging myself. God's doing a pretty good job of that all by Himself.
I'm merely trying to slow His inevitable ravages from time, gravity and decay.
If we finish this class by landing Bell and Clark, I would rejoice!!!!! That's one hell of a finish!
His parents want him to go to Tenn. So I'm thinking that is where he is going.

Quick part 2
what are you wearing todya ?
It seems like OSU has been his fall back choice. Alabama first with OSU as 2nd. Then as Alabama cools off on him, it seems UT first followed by OSU. So I'm left wondering if:
A. OSU just doesn't offer quite enough for him to make it a first choice- which means that no matter what the Bucks end up being 1st runner up.
B. When it's all done, he picks OSU because through out the process they've been the one that is always being compared to the others.
I would like to believe that it will be B, but as a pessimistic OSU fan, I expect A.
This isn't about Tressel not being able to close and Meyer being able to do so.
Because trust if Elliott and Munger flip, it'll be something that Tressel never dealt with. In most instances once we got a verbal--whether early on or late, they signed on the dotted line by the first Wednesday in February.
So to me this isn't an issue of who closed and who didn't or who does it best. Right now there's still a lingering perception about this program: that we lack the wow factor. Sure Braxton had his share of moments last season but to these youth, they want to see bone-jarring hits, playmakers and offenses that put up mega yards and mega points. To most we're akin to Boise State: a winning program that does so in an unimpressively bland manner. This was our perception for much of the Tressel era--esp post 2006. We're not purely pistol, spread option, triple option or pro style and defensively we run a base 4-3. So for a good many high-profile recruits they want to see how they'd fit into our scheme.
For years now they've seen an offense that's at times anemic, others just efficient and this past season doing a bit of this and that.
So until we can shake those perceptions and prove to be a highly efficient offense with dynamic tendencies, we'll continue to face an uphill battle of sorts when it comes to landing some key 5-star prospects.
Meyer's job over the course of these next few seasons will have to be about rebranding this program as a hip, cool and top-notch destination for potential recruits.
I have to believe though that Meyer is selling the future & hyping the hell out of it...yea OSU was boring BUT now that I am here I need players like YOU so that we can throttle teams 70 - 0 every week - type thing. At least thats how I would be selling it
