Check out from about the 4:30 mark, Frank E punting.
yah, we know frank can punt if healthy. one reason i am not worried. but, he did only average 39 a punt his sr year. which means for every boomer in that vid he had a 25 or 30 yarder. but still, no worries. we didn't have linemen and found one on the roster, we will find someone who can punt the ball 3 times a game.
I understand Boom, highlight reels are exactly what they are labeled. I just went looking for a video just to appease myself and decided to share. He has potential. Does anybody know what the health concerns with Frank are?
The offense will be better, but we will meet a better Defense in the bowl game or later down the stretch, you don't want guys starting on our 50 everytime do you?
Too logical, too obvious, too simple, therefore unacceptable to this board...
that's quite a jump and a big stretch to try and make your point. starting at our 50 every time? what are you saying? if we start at the 20 from a kickoff and get ZERO first downs and punt every frickin time and the opponent gets the ball at the 50 we have A LOT bigger problems than a punter....don't you think?
Starting at the 50 is exaggerated ..on my bad. But the assumption that we are going to steam roll everyone, while Our D has some major holes to fill is a bit too much.
I think the O will be better, Carlos Hyde is going to be a beast.. Am more worried about the tougher teams & the scrappy teams. Where punting could be the field position difference.
The whole we won't need to punt is BS and we know it
Did someone say we won't need to punt at all or are you exaggerating again? That's definitely not going to happen, but we will definitely punt less this year I would think.
Here are the facts:
* Drew Basil is still here this year
* If he were to get hurt, Epitropolous is documented to be a good punter, and we likely have walk-on punters as well who would be serviceable.
We will be able to punt well enough when needed. And as Boom said, winning or losing a game doesn't come down to one play. Some folks tend to think that way when something of significance happens at the end of the game, but plays of significance happen, or can happen, all throughout the game. Look at the Texas 2008 game just as an example. Some folks want to say Anderson Russell lost that game for us. Well you can look back at the rest of the game and see a slew of other contributing factors. The referees gave Texas a free touchdown on Thaddeus Gibson's "high hit" penalty which was shown on replay to not be a high hit that would've rightfully resulted in a punt from them. Our offense went 3 and out the entire 3rd quarter. Our defense did a great job limiting Texas to half their season average in points. There are always a laundry list of things that contribute to the outcome of a game, and it's not like we're not going to have a punter this year. We'll have the same guy we've had for the last several and we've got backups for him. We'll sign another scholarship punter next year and things will be fine.
Who did we play?
I personally think Urban Meyer and THE Ohio State University can find a punter !
Not worried. Townsend kid was over rated in my professional opinion. Tripucka kid a few grades better in my book. He will be a good one for Aggies. Just watched what little bit there is on Frank E. and I like his look better than Townsends anyway. Just need to get him away from 3 steps. Easily done. Write me a nice check and I will help make this kid a solid punter!
Coach Meyers first class that is all his and he gives us the best class in resent memory
,and we've got people upset about a PUNTER!.......unreal !!
same people we play this year, except worse probably
Obviously the "We're not going to need to punt" statements were jokes. I'm willing to believe that given his experience and success, in risking the loss of Townsend, Meyer knew he had other contingencies. I do agree that he was a good prospect that would have been an asset to OSU.
The insinuation is that Townsend couldn't attend because of the singing of Clark. But the reality is that the last two actual LOI's sent were Bell and Elliott. Which one of those would you trade for a punter?
I don't think his older brother plays football for Florida. He's not on their roster, anyway. From what I understand, he's just a regular student there.

That Texas game could have been won in so many ways...
We could run the clock & kicked a winning FG .
Rob rose dropped a sure interception on that drive, the same play we won the sugar bowl with & heyward returned for a TD.
Btw this is just a discussion about the punting options. No one is whining, we will find another option.
I agree. Urban Meyer's the coach so we're gonna be just fine. I'm not gonna sweat over an issue that he'll have addressed long before the season starts...in february
Hey I wanted the kid, but not at the expense of a Bell or Clark, etc.
I just think that if you're recruiting the best there is, it's great to land 'em.....even if its the water boy.
Frank, get that leg loose young man. You're going in!
"Any board that would ban 3yds is worthless"
what he said
After seeing this, I don't think we have much to worry about if he gets healthy.
LMAO at some of the posters on this board mad about a punter. Who left us at the altar which I'm not upset about by the way Townsend himself found it funny so do I.
you are correct sir ... these people think next year we won't be able to punt or somthing ... or the average p unt will be 17 yards ... most of the posters on here are in their parents basement playing dungeons and dragons and working at the quickie mart ... they aren't too smart
Hmm. "Most of the posters...?"
Sounds to me like you're talking about that former poster, Sofla. Didn't he work at a fast food place? I know he lived with his parents and he wasn't too bright, eh?
