It's not sounding like we are going to get Wilson.
Apparently, some reporter said his visit with Urban didn't go that well.
He is also said to have had a very good visit recently with the Oregon coaches and their RB coach.
Apparently he is still coming this weekend and will make a decision on Sunday.
Assuming any of this is true, I am guessing Urban told him he will be used more as a slot receiver type and not a true RB. Maybe he didn't like that.
I think if he actually decides on Sunday it will be to stick with Oregon. If he delays, then he is really considering OSU.
Does anyone have a similar read? Am I off on this?
"Buckeye born and bred, a Buckeye 'til I'm dead"
I would take what someone from another site (especially an Oregon site) with a grain of salt. Why would the Wilson's be visiting this weekend if it went so bad and why would Urban even waste his energy if he didn't think he had a chance?? Food for thought.
If taking Wilson means losing Elliott, I'll pass on Wilson. He made his choice and it wasn't OSU, while Elliott made his choice and it was OSU. Urban also promised Elliott he'd be the only RB in this class. Now he's looking at Missouri and I can't help but wonder if he feels that it's because of Wilson.
I want Urban to have the integrity to stick with the guys who chose us and have stuck with us, not risk those chips because some other kid's decided we're suddenly good enough now when we obviously weren't good enough then.
Character counts. It has to.
Did urb tell you no mo rbs ??
11W seems to think we'll be fine with Zeke, and Dontre is being recruited as a slot receiver. I think there is a decent chance we get both.
maybe im naive but i dont get how an in house visit could go so "bad" like that reporter said, yet wilson is still visiting and that same reporter is predicting him to be a buckeye. i dont think there's very much legs to that rumor.
now this doesnt mean he will be a buckeye just dont get the report
You have Mom, Dad, the recruit and Urban sitting around chatting. Urb leaves and one of the family members says "visit didn't go well" Don't you think the visit would really have to go bad....really bad...like Urb slapped moms ass and tweaked her tata...to get a family member to run to a blogger or the press and say the visit didn't go well? Then add that the kid is still coming to cold and snowy C-bus for a visit.
You may be reading too much into it.
No but it's been well documented that he told Elliott that.
You should have known that back when you were sofla. And if you didn't, shame on you for not paying attention.
From an 11W interview with him posted back on 4/3/12:
11W: How did the coaches say they were going to use you at Ohio State? Did they tell you anything about recruiting other running backs in this class?
Elliott: They said they would use me a little bit like they used Percy Harvin in the sense that I would be a guy who both runs the ball and catches some passes as a receiver. I do a lot of that in high school and I feel that is one of my strengths. As for other running backs, the staff told me they were planning on taking only one in our class, so I guess this could be it.

Anyone remember the clusterf^ck that surrounded Urban's visit to Armani Reeves's home last year? People were saying he arrived late, the visit didn't go well, blah, blah, blah. Cam Williams's dad came out and refuted those rumors. Reeves committed and signed.
I know Abe Lincoln said you can trust anything you read on the Internet as gospel but let's be honest: Abe was doing a lot of his reading by candlelight so it's not unreasonable to allow for some margin of error.
Who is sofla ? I am creedbuck. From south carolina. sometimes i have a hard time paying attention ...
Posting for two reasons: 1) agree with iowabuckeye, great player to have but not at the cost of EE. And 2) please get that crap spam off of the forum. Sweet Christ this the only actual Buckeye related topic on the front page!
Sofla was probably the most disliked person on here. You're in good company.
These rumors are meaningless. Wait until Monday.
If Urban wants to give my son a scholly, he can tweak my wife's tatas and slap that ass.
One recruit wont make or break this class. I hope it went well, if not then so be it. I will say this, the Ducks days are numbered so the ball is in his court. If Chipper was such a genius, how can he replaced by an assistant? We saw what happened with Tress. If Saban left Bama wouldnt miss a beat? So either Chip Kelly was that good OR he was overrated and suckered the Eagles. Cant be both.
If Urban gave my kid a scholly he can tweak my tatas! Lol
The blueprint for Mark Helfrich to be successful after being promoted from OC to HC has already been written.
Chip Kelly wrote it.
He was Bellotti's assistant when he became head coach. He went to Oregon as OC after 7 years as OC at FCS New Hampshire. He'd never been a head coach at any level previously. He was 46-7 in four seasons, 36-4 the last three, and finished in the Top 4 all three years. It's all right there on Wikipedia.
If its that easy then why did they up the offer to Chip? If I go work for Urban Meyer and study his system 24/7 that doesnt mean I could take over for him. If thats the case wed hire rocket scientists who can memorize playbooks to coach. Its about when to adjust, how to adjust, when to take a risk, when to reinvent. Are you suggesting Chips offense wont need to evolve year by year? Its like any skilled job, you dont just plug in guys and expect the same results.
Honestly I'd rather retain the services of Elliot and say goodbye to Wilson if these guys are being recruited to play RB.
Elliot is 6'1" and 198 lbs. and will probably pack on some more....not to mention he's faster than Wilson as well. Wilson is 5'10" @174 lbs. and runs a 4.5 forty. Beanie ran that time at 235lbs!!! Elliot runs a 4.42 forty.
We need running backs like Yeldon and Lacey.....Wells and Clarett types....like we have now with Hyde, Smith and Dunn.
You completely missed my point. By a longshot.

Hearing great things about Dontre Wilson's #OhioState visit
7:06 PM - 26 Jan 13
Maybe I was wrong... sure hope we dont lose EE.
Rather have both. I say it all speculation at this point and wait until signing day. I am sure Urban knows what he is doing.
I don't think that EE would be worried about competition if he is coming to a school like OSU or any other top 50 program. I think the visit to Missouri was more for his parents but who knows what could happen. I hope we get both and one plays the slot.
Wow, I did not expect the level of butthurt from the Oregon fans that apparently exists towards OSU.
^This thread is a mess. They essentially broke down into "Ohio is a dungheap" "Meyer coaches wife-beaters" "Oregon produces NFL RBs, OSU can't" within a matter of pages lol. Talk about seeing everything through green-colored glasses! Those folks are more than a little delusional--though I'm sure they'd say the same about us! haha
lolz. what rb's have ever had a good career from oregon compared to osU
