What crime was committed? Obviously no money was scammed from Manti or ND. So my question is, on what grounds does ND get involved trying to "Investigate" for Manti? And to that extent, where is it permissable through the NCAA for a school to hire investigators on behalf of a student athlete to find out who pulled a fast one on him? Would the school do that for Johnny Smith, the chemistry major that wears superman pajamas?
Manti is a nutcase who imagined a gf. He says he met her in Cal., she visited him in Hawaii a couple of times and this is all the fault of others rather than Te'o? He is done and if he isn't I will be laughing at the NFL team which loses a ton of money on him. Much, much worse than Vince Young's problems.
Not sure how he's going to dance his way out of this one....or rather lie his way out of it!
Some hard questions better be asked that's all I gotta say....
Teo just cost himself many millions of $$'s with this. He dropped to at least the 3rd round if not more. As if his performance in the NC game wasn't bad enough. Gotta love this shit though. These ND homers are always ripping OSU for anything. Now they've got to eat their own crow.
Did you see jack.swashbuckler's presser where he got all teary eyed that manti wont trust again .... Wtf is going on
Dude what are you talking about? EVERY school has conduct clauses for students and expectations of ethical behavior.
When you are a star athlete you are ALWAYS a representative of the University, especially when they are paying your scholly, sending you out on media related events and.........a HESIMAN CANDIDATE. You represent the University and they represent you, which is why these relationships are so very important.
It comes with the territory and all know this. I am not sure why you are perplexed with regard to the University's concerns here?
Norte Dame has and anticipates to make millions on their athletes, so that is why they are concerned. Not to mention, each and every time this kid's name is mentioned he's tied to and associated with the University.
As a former administrator at a College, I can tell you that schools are always concerned about the activities of their students, particularly the ones that are put out front to represent the college. This is how you secure, maintain and recruit future students and/or athletes. They are 100% invested in this kid, so if he's a wacko then you have to take interest in managing the public relations and/or legal concerns surrounding this kid.
East Coast Player Known for Knocking Fools Out One At A Time!
Gotcha. So back when they were running the stories, parading him around, using his story to gain support, they NEVER thought to check out this girl? Or interview this girl?
Lets face it, ND is just in full save face mode right now. Their latest Golden Boy is a Whacko. Now they've put their name and endorsement behind his story. When it comes out he was involved they will look even more ridiculous. They should've stayed as far away as they could.
Nueter Lame is in survival mode......this is about to explode on them big time!!
Well let's hope that they had the sense to check this guy out. But what if they didn't?
Can you imagine how exposed the University is particularly from a public relations standpoint.
What if they didn't evaluate this completely as a religious affiliated organization? What if they knew before the Heisman voting or during the season that they knew this was a hoax? Can you imagine how this would impact the University? While it may or may not be criminal, it just looks bad.
And in the world of universities and colleges, there's nothing more worse than embarrassing the BOD, the alumni or other administration.
Swarbrick needs to walk carefully and make sure he doesn't screw this up because his arse is now on the line with regard to Te'o.

i agree. this truly is a non notre dame issue. no one is expecting them to know if some kids gf actually exist. this should be on teo to answer these questions not the ad.
cant believe i just defended notre dame
This photo is just oozing with Lack of Institutional Control...
Funny stuff, but weird to put it mildly.
I have never met a chick online that I would call "my girlfriend" in public and during multiple interviews, where he is on record talking about death. Either Te'o is lying or he is a sick dude.
The sooner that he admits the error of his ways or to being a freak, the better this will turn out for him! The longer he allows this hoax to fester he stands to lose and hurt Norte Shame.
Because the need to cover their asses.
Found this tidbit which I find comical.
One person connected to the program tells us ... officials have warned staff, if they speak to the media about the scandal without permission from the University, they will "never work for Notre Dame again."
That's the "gag order" aspect of it as far as Notre Dame is concerned.....
They want to hide and cover this up ASAP!! That means that anyone involved with, on or around the campus of Notre Dame that knows anything about it will be scorned by the university. They absolutely do not want anyone coming forward who might have information about this incident.
This is already .... and potentially a HUGE embarrassment for them.
The quotes Te'o has made are already self-indicting......
You absolutely DO NOT under any circumstances talk about your girlfriend who you've claimed to have been the most beautiful person you've ever met.......and you met her at a Stanford football game......and your family is thinking she's going to be their daughter-in-law.......and your father has been quoted that she has visited Manti in Hawaii when Manti was home.......
......and then turn around and say you were duped on-line as an internet hoax. Makes absolutely zero sense. Defies all aspects of logic.
