Nice pick up
He will be a good solid back. He'll have to be, to run against our defense
He could be a great one.
It's a good thing when talent stays in the B1G. Whether we like it or not, Michigan getting talent means they perform well (theoretically) in OOC games, the B1G needs that desperately, and OSU and Michigan are likely the only two teams capable of doing that consistently atm. Lookout for Northwestern though, those boys put a stomping on Miss St.
Is it true that we stopped pursuing him to pursue Zeke Elliott exclusively? That's a rumor I've heard that I don't know if there's any validity to. If so, if something unspeakable happens and Zeke flips to Missouri this weekend, that would be quite a swift kick to the family jewels. Not to be a pessimist, don't think Zeke is going anywhere. But if Green was all OSU at one point as some have said, not locking him up could prove interesting in the future.

Funny how things work out with 18 year old kids. A year ago I was certain that he was going to be one of our early commits. I take comfort in the thought that UFM got his guy in Zeke Elliott and WE ended things with his recruitment. No worries (unless Zeke signs with Mizzou on NSD) in which case I'm probably going postal.
It's a good pick up. You certainly can tell what Hoke and staff want their offense to be. With all the O-line man and 2 big backs, they will be old school power run and play action pass. Sort of like Standford and/or Wisconsin. It's obvious they want to get as far away as possible to the Denard spread attack of RichRod.
They will be successful Big 10 ten and really that's their only goal, to win the B1G and go to the Rose Bowl. While good, here at OSU we want to compete with the Bama's of the world and win it all! It is however obvious that there are 2 teams in the B1G then everyone else. It use to be the Big 2 and little 8. I feel like it's headed back there, the Big 2 and Little...whatever the final number will be, 18? So Congrats to TSUN. I hate them but also can see with an unbiased view to see that they are building a solid program up there. Of course, we know that they will overreact and glorify things a bit too much but aren't we use to that?
yawwwwn. good luck with shane morris
Yep, very expected for him to pick Michigan, and it's a good pickup for them and honestly a pretty good fit for him. He'll be the catalyst of their offense for the next 3-4 years. Hopefully our defensive line will shut him down.
i don't want to ever say nice things about michig@n but they beat out two sec schools for green so...
...put that in your sec ass kissing pipe and smoke it, biff poggi!
Great respectable posts all!
I just want to add my two cents about winning the B1G and just going to Rose Bowls. Hoke of course wants to win NCs but he views it as you have to win your conference to even think about a NC (unless you are Bama).
Glad we got him and like dukeluke said, keep the talent in conference!
Have a nice rest of the weekend and cheers to future excitement on the last Saturday in Nov!
The Big 10 needs more talent like this to be competitive, and respected.
Recruiting wins like this benefit us all in the long run.
And yes, thank you guys for your respectful posts...much appreciated.
they needed 2 sec schools to go through coaching changes to land him
Basically expected this for quite some time. Can't really blame Green at all...kid wants to run ball, ALOT.
He'll get his chance now.....battle of will coming to a school near you soon!
"Any board that would ban 3yds is worthless"
So, is there more behind OSU not pursuing Green such as grades, attitude or something that we are not aware of? Sounds like he could have been a Buckeye if we would have pursued him.
I'm sorry but to say that's their only goal is absurd.
Not to mention....the offense that Hoke is installing is exactly the offense that Nick Saban runs at Alabama in case you didn't notice.
Eddie Lacey, T.J. Yeldon and A.J. McCaron are the absolute farthest components of a spread offense. Not to mention the fact that Alabama's offensive line is the best in all of college football at the current moment.
If Hoke can build an offense around those components and incorporate a stifling defense......they'll for sure be in business.
Its a system thing. Long term Urban is looking more for backs like Elliott. Simple as that.
No. Not in my opinion.
We currently have Hyde for this year, still 2 years of Rod Smith possibly, potentially 3 years of Dunn and Warren Ball...and now Elliot with this class. Elliot I'm excited about.
Kid reminds me a bit of T.J. Yeldon of Alabama. He's got decent size on a great frame at 6'0" and around 198 to 200lbs. He'll put on some good weight as well (Yeldon is about 215lbs.)
Elliot has the potential to shine....Smith, Dunn and Ball and even to a degree....Hyde better be ready to maintain their competitiveness as if this kid has "IT" he'll give them all a serious run for the money!
I honestly can't wait to see this kid lined up with Braxton Miller, with Jalin Marshall in the slot and Philly Brown and Devin Smith on the edge! Sick!!
Great pick up for Blue.
I predict he'll be as great as Mike Hart.
Honestly, a great commit for scum. I just don't know what their offense is going to do when Morris throws the ball fifteen yards in the stands because its not 7 on 7 anymore and the box is loaded to stop the run.
He was a primadonna during the recruiting process. From what I've read & heard Urban got tired of it and we stopped recruiting him. Worked out because EE is an awesome recruit.
Yes good pickup for ttun and they are indeed recruiting to their offensive system well. With this class they have a stable of OLmen and two pretty good RBs. They are getting a pocket passer as well. They are a bit weak at the receiving position but are modeling themselves quite like a LSU or Bama team as a smash mouth power team. However at the moment they seem to be short changing their defensive side of the ball. We are still up on them however as we are stock piling on the defensive side of the ball while addressing everything but OLmen on the offensive side quite well.
If I remember right, this guy got a "commitable" offer 2 years ago. With all the uncertainty around OSU he held off (even though he did talk his friend Curtis Grant into checking out the bucks). So he had plenty of time to become a Buckeye even before Meyer arrived on the scene. Meyer looked around an rightly thought..."I have 4 guys who are similar to Green, what I need are more Jordan Halls with better hands and speed." Good Bye Green Hello EZ E. and Jalin Marshall. But IMO Green will do better at scUM than he would have in Urban's offense....mainly because he'll start 3 years earlier.
Just want to chime in, I agree with the WR analysis. We have some recruits who people consider sleepers (have height and speed) but just don't have 5*s on these sites. While we're not hauling in guys like Treadwell yet, people should realize we're still getting better WR prospects than we did the past several years who fit our system. Our TE hauls have been stellar, and we plan to split them out as WR's for our offense so it neutralizes the WR's a bit.
As far as defensive recruiting, we are doing better there than on offense IMO. Our safeties will be studs in Jarrod Wilson (from last year) and Dymonte, we have a number of talented CB's coming in with two really good young ones already on the team (Countess and Raymon Taylor), our D-line recruiting, while not quite as good as yours, has been extremely impressive and is only looking brighter for the 2014 class, and our LB hauls have been the cream of the crop so to speak.
You guys have had some very respectful comments since the D. Green commitment which I enjoy to see, and I agree with the sentiment: both OSU and Michigan will hands down be the class of the B1G for a long time and our match-up(s) late in the season are going to be incredible. Smash mouth football vs. SEC speed with top-5 recruiting classes respectively? For the biggest/best rivalry in sports? Sounds good to me.
