Details for Fans attending Spring Game

  • Fan friendly FB info for 2012 LiFE Sports Spring Game
    Buy tickets in advance to save time & money; most lots free to park; shuttles start at 9 a.m.

    COLUMBUS, Ohio – As of this moment, the weather forecast is calling for a 57-degree day this Saturday for the 2012 LiFE Sports Spring Game and, for every Ohioan, that is the equivalent of one spectacular fall day in Ohio Stadium. And with more than 40,000 $7 tickets already sold, fans won’t want to wait on getting their tickets or taking a chance on missing out seeing …

     Coach Urban Meyer’s Ohio State spread offense in action for the first time in Ohio Stadium;
     The passing, running and catching of guys like Braxton Miller, Kenny Guiton, Jordan Hall, Zach Boren, Carlos Hyde, Jake Stoneburner, Devin Smith, Corey Brown and Chris Fields;
     The disrupters disrupting, as coach Meyer calls defensive linemen John Simon and Johnathan Hankins; and
     Their defensive teammates that feature nine returning starters from 2011 and are under the direction of defensive coordinator Luke Fickell.

    With game week upon us, here are some important pieces of information every fan should know:

    Go here: http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/gameday/osu-12-springgame.html ... for Ohio Stadium information, rules and regulations.

    Ticket prices: $7 each in advance and $15 on game day (cash only).

    Parking: All lots, with the exception of West Stadium (passes required) and East Stadium (disability) are open to the public and free of charge.

    Shuttles: West campus shuttles will begin running at 9 a.m. with a full complement of eight shuttles running by 10 a.m.

    Stadium access: Gates at Ohio Stadium open at 10 a.m. The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team plays host to Air Force at 11 a.m. in the annual Showdown in the Shoe event.

    Souvenir cup: A collectable, 32-ounce fountain beverage cup will be sold at the game with Coach Urban Meyer’s photo and signature. $1 from each sale will be donated to LiFE Sports.

    Won’t want to miss: Special recognitions will be made during the first half for the Final Four men’s basketball team, the national champion fencing and synchronized swimming teams, and individual NCAA champions Logan Stieber (wrestling) and Christina Manning (indoor track).

    $7 Advance tickets: Purchase online through OhioStateBuckeyes.com, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000, in person at the Athletics Ticket Office in the Schottenstein Center, at any Ticketmaster location or at central Ohio Donato’s restaurant. Ohio State students (with BuckID) and children 6 and under will be admitted free of charge.

    $15 Day-of-game ticket sales: Starting at 9:30 a.m., $15 cash only tickets can be purchased at the St. John Arena SE lobby, a booth at the Jesse Owens Plaza, near Gate 7 of Ohio Stadium, the North Rotunda at Ohio Stadium and at a tent near the NE Well at Ohio Stadium.

    Seats: Outside of some in the “club seats” section of Ohio Stadium, all seating for the Showdown in the Shoe and the 2012 LiFE Sports Spring Game is general admission.

    Game format: Coach Urban Meyer has said he hopes for an actual game with two teams of drafted players. That could change into an offense vs. defense scrimmage later this week depending on depth and injury situation. And one final offense vs. defense battle this spring wouldn’t be a bad thing.

    Logo: In celebration of the bicentennial of our great city, the Buckeyes will wear a COLUMBUS200 logo on their jerseys for the spring game.

    Spring game television…: The Big Ten Network will televise the game live beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tom Hart and Derek Rackley will describe the action with Lisa Byington reporting from the sideline.

    …And radio: Sports Radio 97.1 (FM) The Fan will broadcast the game for the IMG Sports Network. Hall of Fame play-by-play announcer Paul Keels and former Buckeye All-American Jim Lachey will have the call.

    Satellite radio: SiriusXM will carry the broadcast on Sirius 91 and XM 91.

    LiFE Sports? Learning and Fitness & Education through Sports (LiFE Sports) is a youth development initiative run by the Ohio State Department of Athletics and the Ohio State College of Social Work. The program is designed to offer economically disadvantaged children and adolescents, ages 9-17, sport and education instruction in a safe and nurturing environment during the summer months.

    TBDBITL: The Best Damn Band in the Land will perform no less than five times in Ohio Stadium Saturday: pregame and halftime of the lacrosse match; pregame national anthem before the football game; a 10-minute halftime show at the football game; and post-football game.
