Did anyone see the psu special on the BTN

  • I was ready reach through that TV and strangle that little bastard Ken Frazier. I will say it again these people are only concerned about possible sanctions against their football team.

At least Lavarr Arrington sees the light. He simply asked the question how much he really knew Paterno. Hell, his family didn't know him at all apparently.

  • Further.........if the NCAA does not levy harsh penalties on this school then the next letter Gene Smith writes is a letter to Mark Emmert stating we are hanging the 1999 Final Four banner up again, we are counting all wins we forfeited, and we will be adding extra games in future schedules to gain the lost revenues we forfeited. If the NCAA doesn't like it they can go fuck themselves as they condone far worse behavior. PSU should levy their own penalties as an act of contrition.

  • The NCAA needs to impose a 3-5 yr post season ban on ALL athletics at PSU. That would not hurt the athletes, but the institution and send a message to ALL administrators that they better maintain control of their athletic programs.

  • I am so sick and tired of hearing, what have these players done to deserve punishment. H E L L O ...can you say John Simon?

  • I only hope we don't see our fans in T shirts poking at this tragedy in two years. However, any Penn State fan dressed like Paterno needs his ass kicked and thrown into the Olentangy.

guys.. stop with the ncaa stuff. that is the least of penn state's worried. there is very good chance they may lose all funding from the federal government and funding from the state of PA. without funding from those all this ncaa stuff means nothing. the ncaa is the last of psu's problems right now. if they lose funding from the feds the school could legit go under

Yeah that's the most ridiculous thing they keep saying. What'd the current players on USC have to do with Reggie Bush's mess? And the same goes for the current players and Urban Meyer, they had nothing to do with Tatgate

  • i never heard PSU fans being upset with people at other schools getting punished for what other people did. now the hammer is going to come down on them and it's a problem? OK.

The biggest beef is this whole "dont touch my football program". They all talk about how they understand how bad it all is and they deserve punishment, just don't touch my football team.

It's just amazing to think what would have happened-and I believe we would have deserved whatever we got-if it was discovered Smith and Gee and others were part of a cover up to not tell the NCAA about guys trading their stuff for tats. Yet these monsters covered up child rape and they want NOTHING to happen to their precious team? Too bad.

Exactly! And rumor is that other schools will be doing the same. The NCAA has no choice but to act on this. Otherwise the fallout will be paralyzing to them.

Well, I only throw that out as an option. The NCAA is in unchartered waters.

At the end of the day, the NCAA could say that:

    1) The NCAA bi-law that was violated is the one dealing with moral and ethics.

    2) The molestaion of these children is a criminal case to be taken care of by the legal system.

    3) Based upon the violations of this bi-law in the past (see Tatgate, and I am in no way asserting there is LEGAL equivalency between Tatgate and this), the sanctions could be a post season ban and loss of football scholarships.

I would be prepared for this logic to prevail by the NCAA.

I think the next step up from this would be as I mentioned earlier, a post season ban for a number of years for all sports.

I do not think the NCAA eliminates football from PSU.

    IMHO.

You are correct in that the NCAA issue is the least of their problems. I would say a billion in settlements is worse. However, if the letter nutbuster posted here is real, that is another problem they WILL have. I don't see the loss of federal funding as it is a school that can show they did educate people with the money. Of course, they could to prevent tax dollars going to pay the legal settlements.

That will probably be true. No tax dollars for the settlement. A definite kick in the cherries, but I suspect PSU has some deep pocket alumni eager to help out. Still though...PSU is going to feel some financial pain from all levels.

  • sorry, but i have to share this beauty from Cambria Nittany. This is actually in response to one of our own-JAG-who offered up that PSU should self impose a 3 yr ban.

"The teach a lesson that "there are things bigger than college football" argument for sanctions is condescending to PSU fans.

By that reasoning, why doesn't the entire Big Ten not play football for a few seasons to show the nation that its fans care about things other than football?"

Is that friggin funny shit or what? Why doesn't the entire Big Ten not play?? What?? Maybe because the entire Big 10 did not harbor known child rapists!! You FRIGGIN IDIOTS!

    boomboom

  • Whatever sanctions the NCAA impose{hopefully alot}; whatever civil costs are court ordered {millions and millions}; whatever criminal sentences are eventually imposed; the NCAA must figure out a way to vacate Paterno victories from 1998. His football legacy must be crushed so that the victims and their families never have to endure his standing as the all time winningest coach. There I feel better.
