Embrace The Hate

I couldn't agree more. In fact I am not sure I could have said it that well. I have now unsubscribed from ESPN, Bleacher Report, and Sports Illustrated. CBS is next. You are the Man Bax! Go Bucks!!

Excellent! I don't watch ESPN except for the games--other Buckeye fans should do the same. Don't just talk--do something about it!

I agree 100% with your comment. Unfortunately BIGBUCK20, the media whores out there no longer care about the truth, only the flavor of the day and how to sell it to maximize their dollar intake. It is a shame to see our sports media go the same way the major new media has gone over the past decade. It all comes down to the almighty dollar. Hate generates interest, which generates $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I too no longer listen to anyhting ESPin puts out or watch any of their myriad of vapid sports talk shows. They are all Sycophantic whores now

(U.S.A. retired 26 years, all four sons in the service.) Trust me, as you well know how badly the media portrayed us in Iraq early on. I was over there in 05, and none of the goods news and all of the good work we did ever got reported. We put in over 1000 water wells in that country, in villages that had not had a good well in over a 100 years, yet nothing was reported. The only news they ever put out was how many of us got blown up, and how terrible we soldiers were (Abu-Grahib). Mass media whores in all of the news venues nowadays.

    Well said indeed!

I'm not sure why people watch the station. The only time I watch it is if they're broadcasting a game. They've never received one bit of attention or one dime of my money, never will other than their piece of their from my basic cable subscription.

That's what it's all about. If you don't like the station, then don't watch it. Boycott it in fact. If the slew of cable and satellite subscribering Buckeye fans for instance told DISH, Time Warner, WOW, DirecTV and the others that they want ESPN 1, 2 and 3 blocked, then the brass in Bristol would feel the pinch. They'd get the message that we mean business.
I don't watch it anywhere near as much as I once did but still feel a tug to monitor their hate so I can know what they're up to at all times, in particularly on College Football Live where Buckeye Hate lives.

  • There is no other program in the country that comes close to OSU in terms of combining consistent on field accomplishments WITH academic excellence! That's why we are so hated. Tressel has succeeded in raising the academic performance of the OSU football team to 5th best APR in the country (with a composite GPA of 3.00) while at the same time compliling the gaudy performance statistics that the world has grown to envy so much. If this is the cause of all of the hate, as the Yankees would say, bring on more hate!

    Nobody hates OSU, relax.

The APR numbers are something that should be celebrated and applauded. Congrats to Tressel and the program on that one. It always nice to see when these guys take advantage of the scholarships.

The sceptic in me wants to see what type of classes some of these guys are taking, but to be in the top 10 is still an accomplishment.

I have an issue someone who questions a degree someone earns/pursues--unless, of course you're hiring them. If a university offers the degree, than don't put down a student for taking it. Slam (if you choose) the university for offering such a degree. By now we all should have come to grips with the fact that the system in place--encourages/promotes--border line forces someone with the potential and aspirations of making a living playing professional football--to go to a college/university to make it happen. There isn't a minor-league that allows this to happen. If someone goes to college, meets the minimum qualifications to earn the degree, than more power to them.

Doctor = 4 yrs undergrad school + 4 yrs medical school + 3 to 8 yrs internship and residency.
Professional football player = 3 yrs out of high school + attend college (highly recommended).

Excellent, perfectly laid out in time line fashion even a ESPiner could understand. Thanks, next to the original article. Post of the day!

Agreed. This is an excellent recap of past events.

Where is the program going in the future is the relevant question. We are at a crossroads. I just can't see Tressel overcoming his transgression. It was too blatant, tarnishes the program, and taints the well. Maybe we never had it, but we will never get the benefit of the doubt again as long as Tressel is on the sidelines.

I like Tressel and I am not advocating firing him, but he is probably going to get the ax unless this is a stellar season. What are the odds that this is going to happen? Trouble from in-state schools, decisive losses to Miami and Mich St. are within the realm of possibility. Tat-5 will be too rusty to beat Nebraska in Lincoln. Possible post-season ban. The team has too much talent and could right the ship by year's end, but the early meltdown scenario is not hard to envision. Haters would be happy, but disappear by year's end as OSU would pretty much become irrelevant. Recruiting would be crushed as speculation over Tressel's future will reach new heights.

Hoping for the opposite - a stellar season. Indeed, this would propel the haters to a new crescendo. Just can't see it happening.
