Espn's top 150

  • ESPN's 150 came out today and we have 5 players on the list. Eli Woodard is the highest ranked at number 12 in the nation. This is the 4th recruiting service to have a Buckeye ranked extremely high. The list continues with:

    Cam Burrows-21
    Jalin Marshall-55
    Marcus Baugh-127
    Evan Lisle-142.

Some of our other top targets are
    Mackensie Alexander-6
    Sua Cravens-15
    Rob Foster-23
    Dorian Johnson-26
    Joey Bosa-41
    Laquon Treadwell-42
    Jaylon Smith-46
    James Quick-59
    Vonn Bell-60
    Alex Anzalone-65
    Ethan Pocic-77
    Derrick Green-83
    Elijah Daniel-88
    Greg Gilmore-99

There are a lot more, I just dont feel like typing them all

  • ESPN's rankings always make me scratch my head and wonder whose evaluating, their list just always seem a little off of other recruiting sites.

    Marty16x1

  • Michigan has 11 commitments in the top 150! Before its all said and done Hoke will probably add 3-4 more which would be 14-15. For perspective in last years class the highest total was 12 by Alabama which means Michigan could just sit idle and end up with an incredible class.

    Braska11

  • It's interesting stuff for all us recruiting junkies but in the end it's someone else's rankings and evaluations. Where did they have hawk and 33 and malcolm and all the others from other schools that are in the league today? And what about all the Rob roses? I'll take urbs evaluations over some blowhard from espin.

    logic247

  • Yes, their rankings are always super out of the ordinary. Ive never seen Woodard ranked so high. Not, that it matters bc hes a really good player no matter where they rank him.

Good for Michigan... too bad we dont care. Not disrespecting them or anything, bc they do have good recruits but this is the OSU board. If you want to talk about how good their class is go to the Blue Board or Michigan's 24/7 site

How could you not care? Its the biggest rivalry in college football and there are 2-3 threads about Michigan and Hoke on here daily.. If I had a nickel for every time I read that OSU was going after the "elite" and that Michigan was getting lower rated recruits, I would be rich by now. Im not trying to be disrespectful but just trying to shed some light on this fallacy perpetuated here. As a Michigan fan I have no problem acknowledging the greatness of the OSU program and pointing out that Meyer will land an elite recruiting class but its just fanatical the way the obvious truth gets spun around here in regards to Hoke and Michigan. There is no doubt in my mind that OSU and Michigan are going to dominate the B1G ten going forward, just as they have in the past.
I come here to learn about OSU and its football program beacause its very relevent to me as a Michigan fan, these programs are linked in a way that can never be overlooked. I have a wealth of information about the Michigan program if you guys ever have questions, I would be more than willing to share.

Dude I don't agree with Be Cool on much, but on this one I have to agree with his points. As a stated scUM fan, once you've opened your mouth, you've already lost credibility with most on this board. Head on back to your own board to chat with your sisters on the scUM site. I am sure they''ll give you the comfort that you are looking for.

We don't care what you have to say, so by definition everything you've said is just rubbish or as you prefer..........drivel!

  • Braska, do you really come to Bucknuts every day and check out what's said about Hoke?

    dkbuckeyes

  • In all seriousness there seems little doubt that Michigan is going to become Alabama's LSU, not on the same talent level but good enough to challenge and put an L in our season every once in a while.

This is what people on other boards say since they don't get OSU caliber recruits. Now we're using the same spin???? Hmm....shrug

  • Shouldn't Michigan have to dominate the B1G at least once in recent memory before they can claim it will be a 2-headed race?

Yep we should talk Hoke and scUM, just as long as we trip on over to the scUM board to start a posting war.

Tried telling the visiting "tool" that this isn't the place for Hokey talk. No one cares about the Michelin man from up North, but I guess she just doesn't understand frank talk.

WE DON"T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HOKE NOR THE ENTIRE STATE OF MICHIGAN!!

What part of my sentence don't you get nor understand! shrug

  • I wasnt saying that Michigan wasnt getting good recruits and OSU is going after the best of the best. Im just saying, this is the OSU board and we discuss OSU things here. I posted commenting on OSU's class and targets because I wanted to discuss them and not Michigan's class.

If you want to comment on our commits and targets, go right ahead.

    Be Cool12

  • Be Cool +1, I agree. I coud give a rats ass about who scum has committed or have a scum troll comparing them to tOSU recuits.
I could care less about scum. Can't stand them!!!
They need to wonder over to the bama board. I'm sure saban has something up his sleeve in dallas for their offense and defense.

I'm all for honesty but honesty starts with "transparency," i.e., who you claim to be matches, in fact, who you actually are.

And as far as your transparency is concerned, who you are and who you claim to be are a contradiction: you've had 112 posts and far and away, the VAST majority of them have been on either our board or MSU's board, which means a) you have nothing to contribute that's considered meaningful by your own kind, and b) you're allegedly here to champion the contrarian point-of-view when, in fact, your real goal is to cause trouble. That's how we define "troll." My kids may not be the world's most beautiful to the rest of the world but they are to me and no one comes into MY house and disrespects me and my family by calling them ugly. If you do, get ready to rumble!

You are welcome to be here. It's a free board. Just enter at your own peril. Forewarned is forearmed.

Not all that concerned about other boards, I think I got like a dozen posts on here. But I'm a recruiting junkie and you can't help but notice that this whole thing is somewhat of a crap shoot. I don't get too caught up in stars because there's film on kids everywhere and for a few bucks you can tell how quick he is, the level of competition for the most part, whether he's a beast on the field and flys around to hit people, or despite overall speed has that ability to makes guys miss just enough...

Guys that rank kids seem to tend to gravitate toward the prototypes...Iike the 6'4" rush end that plays like a house cat versus the tweeter that is a football player. I understand you can't have a 5ft tackle but.....who do you want telling you about who is a player and who might not be....guys like Urban and Fickell or a couple of guys who are tasked with putting a list together. That tsun (shitagain) or any other class can have all the top 150s they want. Hell, we did in the '08 class and look at some of the slugs we had in that class. Compare it to the '05 class and all I can say is.....crapshoot.

When you're #2, you naturally compare yourself to #1. It's a strategy for making up ground. Look at the Republicans--as Romney built his lead, they all started to attack him. scUM aspires to make the B1G a 2-horse race again because they've been irrelevant for a long time. And they should. To compete with us, they have to rise up to our level. And do it consistently. By comparing themselves to us, they begin to believe they are worthy of us.

But we don't have to lower ourselves to their level. When you're #1, acknowledging #2 as a competitor means validating them. As Romney pulled away, he ignored Santorum and Gingrich like they were irritable little lapdogs nipping at his heels and began focusing his message against the big dog, Obama. They became irrelevant as he created separation and set his sights higher. scUM is a competitor one week a year. They warrant the same respect and attention as Indiana and Purdue. We have bigger fish to fry the other 51 weeks and during that time, scUM's barely a pimple on our elephant-sized ass.

For us to get better, it means a) not letting scUM catch up, and b) we have to set the bar higher. If we are Romney (to scUM's lovable loser Santorum and Beliema's grinchy Gingrich), Bama is our Obama. LSU is our Obama. Anyone competing for NCs is our Obama. THAT'S our competition, not scUM, not Wisconsin. That doesn't mean we don't respect them on the field but that we don't acknowledge them as our peers off it.

This isn't about dominating the B1G; we've been there, done that. Mission accomplished in spades. Urban's goal from here on out is becoming relevant on the national level; it's about competing for--and winning--national championships. To do that, winning the B1G becomes paramount but also second nature. That's the program Urban is building. We may not always understand his methods or his madness, but we should respect that is his mission.
