  • thank you for the post Nut. What date is FNL? it seems like the majority of the kids attending are sophmores. i was hoping for more 2013 class but it is tOSU's first year at FNL. im betting next year will be a bigger turn out

  • this list is far from complete...here's tape of florida's fnl last year...you can see there were a lot more kids there than just the couple dozen nutbuster listed in the op, which are the elites...my guess is there will be at least a hundred, probably more...they may not all be legitimate buckeye prospects but urban's going to want to make his 1st fnl a big deal...i'm guessing there will be a lot of 2014's there, especially a bunch of ohio kids we have not heard about yet...it's a proprietary event that will give the staff an opportunity to get a jump on the juniors while showcasing the shoe and osu's facilities

    By the way, anyone who doesn't think this kid is amazing is crazy. Not only is he one of our best recruits but he is by far one of our best recruiters (given that he is allowed to have much more contacts than the coaches). Correct me if I am wrong but Cam has been to every single one of our camps plus most of the major ones as well!

  • You know, I had an idea when I watched Florida's Friday Night Lights video. Take it for what its worth, its just an idea. When I heard "Friday Night Lights", I thought that the staff was going to put on some big production to wow the recruits. Maybe they still are, but that isn't what I saw on the Florida video.

    How cool would it be for a recruit to go one on one with another recruit, in the practice facility, or even at The Shoe, surrounded by fans and students and under spot lights. You know, like when Urban invited the students to come in and watch practice and they surrounded the kicker and cheered them on. Man, wouldn't that knock the socks off of the recruits, to be under the spotlight, being cheered on by other recruits, the staff and fans? Anyway, I think that would be cooler than hell and would really leave an impact on recruits thinking about coming here. Much more than a BBQ at Hoke's place. Just had to get that off my mind. Go Bucks!

  • more than anything, fnl is a pr event. it's community outreach. it's hip-hop music & bright lights & the scoreboard lit up (altho it's not supposed to be done by then) & kids running routes and doing sparq. it's also about the future. that means while book isn't closed on osu's 2013 class, w/14 commits in the bag already urban's getting close to it. he's got about 6 spots left & he's got his short list of guys for those spots. if i were him, i'd be using fnl as an opportunity to get a look at the 2014's & invite them out the wazoo.

    i don't know what restrictions the ncaa puts on events like this but if i'm urban & co, i'd invite ted ginn, sr. to bring down a busload of cleveland's inner-city kids the way he used to take them around the big 10's summer camp circuit. i'd invite mike martin @ cincy taft to do the same. i'd tell maurice douglas to bring burrows & a busload of dayton's best 2014's. i'd find out who the summer 7-on-7 studs are (garrett, nyles morgan, ian bunting) and invite them. i'd tell every kid who's coming to invite his hs coach & at least one parent to come w/him (remember: they're 16-17 years old & after waugh, i'd want to make sure there's parental supervision). i'd make sure the kids & adults were entertained, toured the campus, shown the whac. and i'd move heaven & earth to get that brand new big screen tv up & running!
