Gee at it again; Slams Sporting News/Sports Illustrated

  • As The Lantern so carefully points out, neither of the stories were "technically" bad journalism. They were not forced to make retractions. But like the law, there is the spirit of good journalism and the letter of it. Both accounts failed miserably if held to high standards of reporting. Too many careless accusations by Dohrmann citing unnamed courses or sources who obviously had an ax to grind. The timing of The Sporting News' "investigative report" called into question the purpose of the entire enterprise. Well over a year since he left Florida and citing only one named source, Hayes reports on what? Very weak, indeed.
I think it is best when Gee doesn't say anything to the press about OSU sports, but you know he was asked the question so he answered. In this case, good for him.

Who gives a flying f*ck? Did you really expect SI or Sporting News to write about how Tress had his players visit cancer patients? You think they would've played nice if only we would've just kissed their asses? Wake up. These hack jobs thrive on attacking people and institutions. They are the voice of every whiny, envious bitch who hates successful people and successful institutions. I only wish I had a dollar from each and every one of them whose day was ruined when they found out Meyer would pick up running a dynasty where Tressel left off. I'd be one rich mofo. Its funny how when Meyer was an ESPN commentator, everyone loved him. Upon taking the head coaching position at OSU, he became a hated bastard. Its because the majority of the college football community has penis envy. Ohio State is the biggest brand in college football and the rest of the country hates it. We have to defend ourselves from that blind hatred. What Gee did was go to bat for his team. I applaud him and what he said.

actually no....my post is in no way defending SI or sporting news....ESPin especially......OSU is a target for publications because we generate hits on websites, comments, viewership of programs etc.....it is all horseshit....but thanks for all the down votes anyways.

I think we would all mostly agree Gee tends to stick his foot in his mouth.......Glad for him to speak up but at the same time he just opens himsefl up for more criticism.
