Food has become an important reward system in the fledgling Tim Beckman regime, which players say they are relishing. They have embraced Ron Zook's replacement and his emphasis on competitiveness.

"I feel there's a whole new energy throughout the locker room," QB Reilly O'Toole said. "Coach Beckman just gets us excited."

I think Beckman will do well at Illinois. He did well at Toledo, and most of the time if you can succeed in the MAC, that bodes well for your future. He's an Urban Meyer disciple, so I suspect he'll be good at motivating just like Meyer is.

Actually, Woody used to do that. In fact, I think it is an OSU tradition.

Beckman also did this while he was at Toledo. He's a pretty good coach, one that I had put on my short list (top 5) of replacements for Coach Tressel. I was sad to see him go from UT, but glad he got an upgrade in the coaching ranks.
