"I'm sure Joe will make the plays when he needs to."

  • Quote from Fickell's presser when asked whether it's believed Joe still gives the team the best chance to win after Braxton...just wow. Clearly didn't want to answer straight up, but just the fact that they won't push Joe down the depth chart where he belongs just irks me.

again im no football guru but i know football really well, played it for 15 years, joe bauserman sucks. i dont need to be a coach to know how bad bauserman is.

  • He was also just asked if he has the authority to hire / fire. He said yes. That now puts all of the ineffectiveness on offense on Fickell himself. There's no more blaming Bollman, as incompetent as we all know him to be. The fact that Fickell has kept him around, or not at least put someone else in charge of the offense up to this point, especially with regard to personnel decisions is just crazy!

Does that translate into, Guiton and Graham SUCK, or this staff SUCKS? I mean really?

He also said Guiton would be getting more reps.....again...we have to read between the lines a bit here and decipher what Fick is really saying without saying it.

They need to get Guiton more comfortable and if he practices well then I have no doubt that he will be getting in before Joe B. (at least that is what i am saying to myself :))

Let's be honest.....who would be executing the offensive play calling? Unfortunately they are stuck with Bollman for the year.......making that fire now would be stupid (as much as i hate to say that).

Sorry razor I started a thread about his press conf and didn't see this one was already started.

Amazing!! He'll make big plays when he needs to,REALLY? fick makes sound like an option. At what point last week didn't he think he needed to make a big play?

Actually, if i am not mistaken wasn't Guiton in on Special Teams last Saturday? I had a substantial amount of alcohol flowing through my body but I seem to remember people pointing that out during the game??

What was he supposed to do? Throw the kid under the bus? Yes, he sucks but he doesn't need his head coach stripping him down in public.

This doesn't help Lukes cause. At the start of the season he said very adamantly that he had great confidence in Bollman calling the plays. Note this was near the same time that Bollman was F ing up on recruiting. I have lost a lot of respect a d confidence

I'd like to read between the lines, but the thing is that he was asked during the presser today about who would be playing such and such position after such and such and Fickell's response was "did you look at the depth chart?"...so clearly he wants us to use the depth chart as a guide, which is what it's there for. If the depth chart isn't true...why even publish it and answer questions in such a manner? It's not hard to make a depth chart change and explain it to the players involved.

"Hey Joe, we really appreciate all your effort, and we're going to need you to keep practicing as hard as you can going forward just as you have been. We're also going to be giving some of the other QBs some reps this week and potentially in the game next week, so I wanted to give you a heads up with regard to potential changes on the depth chart."

If it were up to me, Bollman would be fired, Keith Uechre (sp?) would be promoted to OL coach, Drayton would be promoted to OC and also continue coaching the WRs as he has been.

If you're not comfortable with firing Bollman (despite the fact he brings nothing to the table), you just demote Bollman and make Drayton the OC.

No biggie, I've done the same. :)

That's what I'm saying...do you not have enough data yet to demote this kid? I mean seriously, what more do they need to see!?

    Where did I suggest that?

To answer your hypothetical, no, you don't rip him in public. But the question was: do you believe Joe still gives you the best chance to win? (the reporter's question was implied to mean if Braxton is unable to play, etc.)

If you intend to give other kids a chance, you can certainly say that without ripping Joe. It's quite easy for anyone with any experience being politically correct. Just about anyone who's had a serious job in a professional environment knows how to answer these types of questions.

It's the fact that Guiton / Graham weren't even mentioned in the response that is disconcerting. And that was my point.

No offense intended, but clearly that meant absolutely nothing when the game was on the line. The coaches still went with the worst QB we've got when the game was on the line. This is 100% on the coaches. I will be so relieved when they are gone after this year.

oh, i would love to fire the shit out of him......the team is going through enough change and turmoil as it is.

Quite possibly yes but we also had a 27-6 lead and our D was dominating and we were moving the ball. I agree it is all on the coaches because they should have had Guiton repping with the two's a few games ago (after the Miami debacle)......when Braxton was in the game we had over 300 yards of offense......4 min to go in 3rd quarter. With JB we had 46......EVERYTHING broke down....not just the offense.....the defense got their asses spanked as well.

It is clear that when Joe B is in the game the team deflates and they literally go to shit. so i agree Joe B should never see the field again and that it is all on the coaches but the players also still need to give the same effort regardless of who is taking snaps.
