The L in John L. Smith stands for Loser. It's a one and done contract but if I'm Smith, it's a worthwhile risk to resuscitate my flagging career. Arkansas has the horses. If I can get them to 10 wins, which isn't unreasonable with their roster (Heisman candidates at both RB and QB) and schedule (home games against both Alabama and LSU), I'm thinking I've got a good shot.

frankly this was a no brainer for John L, at Weber St he was due to make only 130K a year, he will get 6.5 years worth of Weber St pay in the next 10 months.

The guy only has maybe 5-8 good earning years left as a coach before he gets to 70 years old (will be 70 in 6 years 7 months) so staying at Weber for 6.5 years he would have made 850K and been 70, or he can make all that now and maybe parlay this into the full time gig or be at least good enough to get a better paying job than Weber will be over the next 5-7 years,
