Lets be fair MUCH easier to recruit at OSU

  • ive been on this site for 3 years .i had to create an account just for this topic.I cant believe the thinking of most Buckeyes.How can we say we out recruit Michigan?
    Lets put this into context schools like Michigan,Stanford,Northwestern,Vanderbilt CANT accept kids that are getting C's and D's in high school. Ohio St accepts these kids and some these kids come in with issues.Lets hope someday THE Ohio ST university can live up to the standards of the higher LEARNING schools and still be able to compete on some decent level at sports...
    I think its AMAZING how Michigan can have such high academic standards and still compete

    I would agree that the academic standards for coaches at UM are much lower than for the coaches at OSU. Maybe that's more of the unfair advantage for OSU?

    Kidding aside, the general admissions standards for UM students are higher than for OSU without doubt. However, there has been a lot of research in the past that has pointed to the extremely low standards at UM for football players. Not to say OSU's (and everyone else's) standards for football aren't low... they are.

    I've seen extensive articles discussing the UM standards in the past, but I'm too tired to run through Google and find them all. Here's a link to one where Harbaugh calls out UM on the standards for starters, though:

    This was written during the Carr years. I'm sure the standards plummeted even further during the Rodriguez years, though would stipulate they have rebounded somewhat since Hoke took the helm. Whether standards have rebounded to Carr levels I have no idea.

    Funny, Last year the APR for tOSU is second only to Northwestern. scUM was second from the bottom. Last year I went into arduous detail with another scUM troll proving to another scUM troll both this and that many of tOSU professional schools have higher requirements than Ann Arbor College. I'm not going to do it again for you. Look it up yourself before you shoot off your mouth

Go check for lint under Jabba the Hoke's belly. I would guess Krenzel is smarter than anyone Michigan has ever put on the field. He also has something Michigan doesn't have AN UNDISPUTED BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

  • Michigan is certainly a better school. But your point is actually moot for michigan. They lower their admission standards for athletes so far below their normal standards that they are roughly equal with tOSU. That said, the other schools you mentioned certainly deserve credit for dealing with those issues.

  • About 3 years ago, the paper here in Atlanta, published a report from the NCAA on the average SAT score for every athlete in a PUBLIC school in a big 6 conference. First this leaves out Vandy, Stanford, USC, Baylor, Northwestern, Duke, Boston College, and schools like that. Included in this article was the top 10 and worst 10 schools . I don't remember all 20, but there was no school from the B1G on either list. It was no surprise, that the SEC led the list of schools with the lowest Sat score. They had Arkansas, Mississippi, Miss, State, Arkansas, and Kentucky had the lowest average SAT scores of any school on the list. Also on the supid list were WV and Pitt. FYI Georgia Tech had the highest average SAT score.

    You are bringing an empty skull to a brain fight, Bubba. Michigan's team APR is one of the lowest in the conference. Ohio State is second only to Northwestern. Ohio State leads the conference annually in # of Academic All Big-10 selections. Did you see the news story recently about Michigan players taking candy courses from the same professor?     are you serious right now man?? that is the craziest thing i have ever heard, there was a story a couple of years ago about a safety that committed to florida and then backed out of his commitment to go to michigan and the kid had low test scores. Hell Dick Rod put his neck out there and got the admissions office to let him in and the only reason he didnt stay there is because his ACT score was so low he had to go to a smaller school to get his grades up so please never come on here and say crap like that and say your a buckeye fan because you are not a buckeye fan. i would at least get some facts straight because tOSU has turned down kids and sent kids away because of grades because this school cares more about grades then anything else.
