Making a Case for Chucky as HC

  • I'm glad someone brought up the name Peterson. Although he wouldn't be/isn't my first choice, I think that he would finally bail on Boise if offered. Look at the last couple weeks of the polls. Although his team continues to win, they are also getting leap-frogged by other teams from BCS conferences with the same record. ie, Wisconson this last week. I'm not saying that Wisky is not a better team, but Perterson has to be getting tired of not getting a legitimate shot at playing for the MNC.

  • Gruden, Meyer, Peterson all look real good to me. On the other hand, who wouldn't be a step up? Well, okay, there are a few.

  • IMO all who beleive Meyer left Florida for health reasons are as clueless as those who beleived tOSU, or anyother school for that matter, ran a squeeky clean program. If you dont think the massive arrest count and recruit quality acedemically played the major role in his leaving, your missing the boat. Please check what some of the florida players arrests where for, drugs, weapons and gang affiliations. How many 2 a.m. calls from the county jail do u think a guy can take. Thats why the $EC overrecruites so much, who knows how many acedimcally ineligibles they'll end up with every year or how many will get into serious trouble. Thats why I beleive none of the current infractions at tOSU would scare him much, they pale in comparison to what he dealt with at Florida on a weekly basis. Having said that, I'd still rather see Fickell somehow right the ship, but I'm loosing faith every week.

I stand by Gruden as my #1 but I am enjoying this discourse, which is what I'd hoped for in my OP. Peterson's got balls and he can flat-out coach. He plays to win. That Statue of Liberty play against Oklahoma took guts. I shudder to think of what he could do with 4/5-star talent. He's been national head coach of the year twice. Following last season, he was unanimously selected as the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year, awarded to a coach who represents the highest ideals both on and off the field. He was also recognized as having the best Academic Progress Rate average the past two reporting years for FBS HCs. He's exactly the kind of guy we need to right our listing ship. And he's probably is tired of Boise being treated like the proverbial red-haired stepchild by the BCS. He is an offensive coach but Boise State plays great defense; I could see him coming to Columbus while their current DC stays in Boise to become their new HC. Peterson was Dan Hawkins' OC and promoted to HC when Hawkins left for Colorado. I could see Boise's admin wanting to continue their winning ways and promoting from within would be a smart move. (Hawkins might also be an option, ala Bill Snyder coming back to K-State). According to their DC's bio, he is a member of the Boise State Athletic HOF, is in his 14th overall season as a member of the Boise State coaching staff, and this is his 6th season since returning to his alma mater prior to 2006. His blood runs Boise blue. He's only in his second season as DC but in his first season last year, the Broncos' D led the nation in sacks and finished 2nd nationally in yards per game, points per game, TFLs and pass efficiency defense, 4th nationally in pass defense, and 7th nationally in rushing defense. He's the perfect candidate to be promoted from within. So Peterson is OSU's new HC and brings his O-staff, while his DC and D-staff stay in Boise and our D-staff stays at OSU.
