Meyer's Florida tenure criticized

  • i can see why Urban Meyer is getting criticized. A lot of things probably did occur while he was at Florida. However, he left Florida and is now here. If that shit went on at Florida, then I can only imagine how much of it occurs at the rest of the SEC schools.

Are we selling out to Urban Meyer because we know he'll bring a lot of wins to us? He's a heck of a coach. i'm passing judgment until i hear more about it. I support Urban Meyer, i'm just being cautious as well.

  • Yes i completely support Urban as well to think he was the face behind the crime at Florida is ludicrous.

    ATLBuckeyez

  • It's agood thing he's not there anymore then.

  • I think it is funny that only the most sucsessful people and even companies in our country are the ones that are under the most scrutiny and people are so short sided that they have nothing to do except try to dig dirt up on these high profile people. Most of what I read in this article seems to be someones opinion with not alot of facts attached.

Did anyone else listen to the 911 call to the Gainesville EMS from Urbans wife at 2 am? (it's attainable on the Internet) It is a fact that Urban was destroying his own health while coaching Florida. I think the big problem was that Urban was planning on taking the next few years off and broadcasting and getting his health totally back in check until a strange thing happened. The OSU coaching job became available (who could have ever predicted that? C'mon !) And, I truly believe, this was probably the only college football job he would ever have taken at the time.

How can these coaches watch their student-athletes 24/7? (ask Tress)

I think maybe Florida fell apart after Urban left because maybe there not as well coached?

I think Urban is here for the long haul. people always find fault with the winners of this world. I would like to know from the rest of the Big 10, how many people would love to have Urban Meyer as their Head Coach. How about ALL of them (if they could be honest, that will never happen)

I still cannot believe what has happened here at OSU in the last year. But, I for one will tell you how I feel. I am VERY happy that our head coach is Urban Meyer. Tress gave us a great 10 year ride, but, hold on to your seats, this one is going to be even better.........

  • Let them criticize, Urban left Florida because he created a monster. The man did what he thought he had to do to win in the SEC, I'd say he accomplished that ! Tell all of these Florida fans that bitch to give their 2 NC trophies back, they're tainted according to all of the media/ whining fans !

I truly think Urban learned a huge lesson at Florida and I'm confident that he will not allow it to happen here. He's been to the darkside of CFB and he's not going back !

  • Urban Meyer is the head coach off TOSU. So let the "investigative" hack jobs, err, reporting on his tenure while at Florida begin.

You are flaming, you ignoramus ! You are a Cane's fan on a Buckeye board. Exactly what are you hoping to accomplish here ?

No one has ever said that Meyer didn't do anything wrong at Florida, the man isn't perfect. Hell, look at the culture that was created at Miami and you want to point your finger at Urban Meyer, really ?

Why are you so concerned with Urban Meyer and Ohio State ?

Formerly "Buckeye47Fan". Couldn't carry over my handle, why 247 ?

  • Just another hate article. As used to them as every Buckeye should be, they're gonna get a whole lot worse. Who cares.
I still think everything that Urban has said about his time at Florida tells the whole story. And its no secret that things were completely out of control there. Health reasons? Hell ya. He was a prison warden. And I believe the compliance department, if there even is one there, laid everything on the coaches shoulders. And once the kids start exploiting their stardom, it'll spiral out of control. I've always paid pretty close attention to Florida, and you could see this coming a long time ago. Was it dumped on WM's head? Ya, just like it was dumped on Urban when he went there.

That article is just another BS attempt to get readers. Who else would he write about to get the most readers? Hoke?

Dude just more of the same crying from the FLA babies as they can't have their way and now realize that they are destined to return back to the days of irrelevancy. baby

Here's the biggest and smelliest pile in the so called article:

"The story by Matt Hayes cites several unnamed former players and sources who claim that Meyer had a "circle of trust" for his most talented players, and that they could get away with serious misdeeds."

Do you just love it when boys criticize men and do so anonymously?

WHATEVER ESPN! He's a Buckeye now, so we just gonna let the haters..hate and the bitches..bitch!!

Now can we JUST get to the Spring game??

  • When Meyer mentions that "he's home" all the time now and how good it feels, I believe he is referring to the values of the Midwest and the opportunity to run a first-rate program. Sure, he's recruiting all over the nation, but he knows exactly what type of athlete he wants to work with now and has matured from his previous experience that almost cost him his health. He is NOT going to make those mistakes again. He knows what the program means to Buckeye Nation and how we all felt with JT and what went down. He knows how many people are counting on him, and I don't think he will let us down.

  • Does anyone else get the feeling that BSPN, SI and the like are going to start searching for dirt on Cooper, Bruce and Woody and publish it as breaking news when they find something?

Yeah what I find funny is that I don't recall reading any negativity from ESPiN or SI while Urban was broadcasting. But not even before he gets done with his first spring camp at Ohio State, the venom comes out. I find it amusing that there's anyone out there who says the media doesn't have a problem with Ohio State.

  • Four things. One, the first sign of trouble here, Urban dropped the player. So that sounds like a Florida problem and not an Urban problem.

Two, the story described the players there at Florida. And if Urban told a recruit that he wouldn't want his son going there in that environment, heck I wouldn't either. Again, sounds like a Florida problem.

Three, this sounds like a sucker punch by Florida (getting the writer to slant it that way) in response to Urban talking bad about them to a recruit. Hey, Urban was just being truthful.

Four, sounds like Florida is making excuses for sucking. It took less than 5 months for Urban to get things right here. The guys here have bought in. How can Florida's coach take that long to take control? Sounds like he isn't in control. Probably the Florida boosters and players are in control. How many more years can they suck and blame it on someone else? It'll be interesting.

  • Lets' be honest. Coach Myer didn't leave Florida on the best of terms or in the best shape. How would we feel if Coach Tressel abruptly retired after a 8-5 season and a year later he was coaching at USC. Not to mention all the player arrest, mass exdous of transfers, and the rumors that coach myer played favorites. Coach Myer is a fairly young coach. Utah to Florida is a huge jump as far as size of program and even though he won two championsip on the field he struggled with his adminstrative duties off. Coach Tressel won a national title and the next year his star player is suspended for the season. Youngstown State to Ohio State is a huge jump and there is a learning curve for off the field duties/player management. So, let's not defend coach Myer like he did no worng at Florida becuase he wasn't perfect and frankly...why should we care...I am 100% confident Coach Myer has learned from his mistakes at Florida and we have the most complete football coach in the country. His mistakes off the field at Florida will help him became the best coach in college football history (I know bold statement but thats my expectaton) at Ohio State, and no one has ever questioned his on the field coaching abilities!! Go Bucks!!!!
